    I bought this for my MacBook Pro Retina. I went a year with out a DVD reader/writer and I needed one for a weekend project. Worked like a champ, didn't need to install anything. I went for this one over the one Apple provides because it was half the cost. I'm glad I did. I'd be concerned using it for travel. The build quality seems a bit iffy - doesn't seem like much, but maybe that's a good thing.
