Definitely fills the bill with respect to having an external CD/DVD drive, especially for newer all-in-one desktops with no DVD drive (and you still run across some vendors selling discs, or if you have old legacy stuff you need to access via this outdated(?) medium.

So far everything I have thrown in it has worked on my computer. Have not tried to burn with it yet so do not know about burn quality or burn speed. Had seen cheaper DVD drives elsewhere but decided to pick this one up when I bought my laptop because it was in stock. So far no other complaints.

Nice product but difficult to set up. The driver that comes with it didn't download or run very easily. Geek Squad downloaded a superior driver instead.

My new computer didn't have a optical drive so I needed an external dvd drive. It works great with my most up to date laptop. But it is slow and sometimes doesn't work with my desktop computer.

Good external DVD/CD, but have had to do at least one driver update? Not sure if malware or if will continue to cause my virus software to raise alerts to it. With other models, I have not had to do additional updates after initial install and they have not triggered a potential virus alert. Had to go Google it to confirm.

What I really liked about this drive and the reason I bought it is the disks are loaded from the front so you don't have to worry about keeping above the drive clear... Don't have to open a cover and snap in a disk...

More than I expected. No need for a power connection, plug in to a usb jack and you're up and running. The blade drive is much better in my estimation than the draw type. Very good quality output.

99% of what we do today no longer requires the use of a CD or DVD. But that 1%! It’s good to have inexpensive options that are high quality like this burner. Just plug it in to a USB port and you’re good to go!

Why are laptop manufacturers making laptops without CD drives? Well with this CD drive the answer is mute. Just plug it in and there you go. It's great for loading old software, watching movies and copying files to disk. The only drawback is the additional expense.

Great purchase for your $$$. My CD/ROM stopped working on my laptop and it was more expensive to send it out for repair so this was a quick purchase that was able to get the job done. One downfall to this product is that it isn't compatible with mini disks, but they are not common use, so you'll be good with this purchase.

I bought this to accompany my new laptop, as I still have a lot of great music on CD's. It also gives me more options for downloads. The LG-8x is sleek and seems to be sturdy enough, and I have been happy with my purchase.

so handy always can record to CD or DVD on off all computers.Great as a traveller I just bring it and my flash drive to work and can copy my data for any one no more need to haul my laptop everywhere.

I bought this because I had lost my original external disc drive. For the price, this one is pretty good. But, I was having issues actually using it for functions such as burning CD's and putting anything onto the CDs/DVDs that I was trying to use.

used it to create dvd copies for my sons wedding video we went out of town but called ahead to see if they had a DVD player they did not so we took this and a laptop to play it on beware you need a program to auto replay so you don't have to restart continually

I bought the Surface Book and needed a drive to install the Quickbooks software. I got this one because i was told it was metal and the color matches my laptop. Although the "metal" seems more like plastic to me, it is still very sturdy and not heavy. All in all, I would recommend this drive.
