If you are recording DVD's and your laptop or computer don't have the capacity get it, but if you will be upgrading to Blue Ray's, best get the Blue Ray one instead as it does both

I bought this dvd player to be able to look at old data on cd, install programs and watch dvds on my newer lightweight laptop. It worked as expected.

I have three of them. They have never given me any problem. However I feel less comfortable placing the media in a slot. If the ejection mechanism fails I don't know how to get the disk out without using and axe.

I did a lot of looking around for the right recorder. Since I already had a blue-ray external recorder, I only needed a second one for a non-blue-ray device for my Surface issues.

After loading the software that came with unit, it was a little confusing to find on my laptop, but I finally found it and was able to use the device. I was hoping it was more a plug and play device, but had a few more steps.

The drive works great! It burns dvds and cds without no trouble works great on Windows based and Mac based systems.

My computer for didn't have a DVD drive so I had to get an external one. So far it works for programs but I couldn't get it to play DVDs. But it could also be operator malfunction

I thought this external DVD player would be easy to use. Installation was complicated and it doesn’t come with great instructions. Once installed, it works pretty good but is somewhat loud.

Old OS on iMac so I needed an external drive to migrate to new iMac. A little more labor intensive but now I have plenty of extra storage + backup capability. Cleaning out old CDs so also using it to upload to iTunes Library.

Diffcult to find the off switch on windows 11 I upgraded from windows 7

My old one wasn't working so I purchased this one. It worked without much fanfare. I don't need it very often so I expect it to last a long time.

This is a good basic DVD writer that millwork with a variety of formats. I purchased it to use with my Mac products (Macbook Pro, iMac) in the hopes that I could erase DVD-RW discs. That doesn't seem to be possible, though.
