A few $ cheaper than and Apple Drive.so I tried it. When ripping CD rarely reached 7X speed. Thought maybe MacBook Pro did not like it so I returned for an Apple Drive. Apple Drive a little faster with MacBook Pro, but not much.

I have yet to use the device. It was meant to use with the surface pro, but I had to take the device back as it does not feature 4g LTE. Perhaps I will move up to an "all in one" touch screen, at which point I will utilize this item.

I don't know wy, but this external DVD drive did not work on my Mack Book Air. So i returned to the store and got the Apple one. As it suppose to be, just plug and play. That's why you have to pay double the price of non Apple devices.

While experimenting with DVD units to install with our 55" Samsung tv, we connected this unit as it was a compatible DVD player. It was returned hassle free for an actual Samsung DVD that worked out better for our situation. Thanks Best Buy

This item would not work for Windows 10 or 11. I went online to download the drivers to see if I can make it work, and I was told that this item was for windows, 7 and lower, and a couple of Samsung models. This item is not compatible for windows 10 or 11 and would not work with a desktop. So I had to return it.

I bought this drive because it was less than half the price of the apple SuperDrive. The packaging was nice but the item felt like it was made from low grade plastic. Overall it does the job intended but I wish I bought apple.

I bought this thinking that it was aluminum like the Apple Superdrive. for the price ($60) it certainly should be. Well it is not. it is a very cheap plastic. The is no real decreeable difference between this drive and the myriad of other drives that cost far less. If you are just looking for an external DVD drive get one of the cheaper ones and if you are looking for an aluminum drive just buy the Apple one for $15 more.

I needed a DVD/CD player that was both PC and Mac compatible. I bought this drive based on the description and reviews. The description is incorrect and the reviews were either only for DVD or people posted fake reviews. It works on a Dell XPS 15, but does not play CDs on a 2018 Macbook Pro. I was going to return it, but I missed the return deadline. Do not buy if you want to play CDs on a Mac.

Nice player w other additional software features. To work on Win 8 requires additional VLC player-the original version, not Windows 8 version to actually play a dvd.

Noisy operation but functional. Included software not really the best

Works ok for an add on dvd player for our computer due to our original one breaking. It is a little loud and the discs sometimes take a few tries to go in.

I thought this was "double layer" in that It woudl hold 2 discs but it doesnt~~ at least the instructions do not speak to it so I do not know what is the double layer.....could have bought

This seemed like a very versatile external drive. It was geared for videos more than CD's. I took it back.

Noisy hard to insert and eject disk. It work for what i need it for.

I used it first to install my printer with the printer CD, worked fine. Then tried to watch a DVD with it, and my Mac wouldn't even recognized it was plugged in. Talked to Geek Squad and was told it was a problem on the drives end. Which I believe because the USB ports recognized everything else. Just not this product. Returned to store and got the apple made one. $20 more and I know it's compatible.

I had no issue with this product. It worked exactly like I expected it to, however, there are several cheaper alternatives that function just as well.

I bought these two drives for my business based on their good reviews, but they did not read discs very well (or at all sometimes). Even if it was discs that were burned from the drive itself. I use Mac computers in my business and thought I would try this instead of the Apple Superdrive. I would stick to the Apple Superdrive even if it a little more expensive.

I did an extensive amount of research and spent a vast amount of time online with a Best Buy employee in a long chat session that stated this was compatible with my new MacBook Pro. It is NOT!

Does mostly what it's supposed to do. Bought it mainly to watch my old dvds on my laptop since my laptop does not have a disc drive, but it does not come with a dvd viewer. You have to install one on your own. I have windows 10. Actually I can't even remember if after installing a free one if it even worked. I don't use it but I keep it in case I need to access info on an old cd. This writer was the only option I had at the time and I bought it to patch the time until I can find a better option.

I will get a different one because I was not able to get it to work . But it looks good the quality but sadly had to return it
