I needed a solid portable DVD drive, as the laptop I purchased did not come with one. There are still those times that a drive is needed. There were other less expensive ones, but they all seemed flimsy.

As others have noted it is noisy. Speed is OK for the price. I use it only to occasionally upload info from a disc. For a heavy user suggest you shop and plan to spend more money.

Works great on my iMac and Macbook air - burns at 8x on DVD even DL discs - just as good as superdrive and much cheaper - thanks LG!!

Was skeptical because of size and almost no instructions, but it was an easy plug & play and has worked flawlessly

My laptop doesn't have a DVD player. I watch DVDS on my laptop and gad a hard time choosing. This one is a good player. It doesn't have the slide out tray so you have to push the disc in.

Originally purchased for my Spectre then realized that it also works on a Mac, so it's a perfect fit for the entire home.

Great item!! Replaced a Samsung that quit in less than a year! Much cheaper than replacing my internal burner on my Mac. Easy set up and works like a charm!!

I've purchased several of these drives for various computers that did not come with an optical drive. I use them on both PC and Mac. The price is right on this one.

That this little guy would be such a game changer for my laptop. It was highly recommended by my resident computer expert at Best Buy. Couldn't be happier and it's quiet.

I think this product was definitely worth the money. So far whenever i use it, it is easy maneuver use and havent run into any problems.

My new Surface Book did not come with a DVD drive, and after searching, I'm very happy I purchased this. It's plug and play. Very easy to use, and it's very compact.

Product works mostly all the time and once in a while it won't connect the CD. Overall, I'm pleased with the product.

It's a DVD burner. It works as advertised. Present for family member who still listens to CDs in the car. It looks sleek.
