Not A Good Fit

Unfortunately, this item doesn't measure up. I needed a disk reader/writer for a new laptop. Mechanically, it works fine and the slender build makes it portable. However, the accompanying software is old and not user friendly. It is basically a way to throw advertising in your face and ask you to store your music on their platform and buy their movies. I think it is 2015 software and just not a good fit. The disk drive works alone for reading data and playing media but you'll need other software (unless you wrangle with the supplied software) for writing DVD's or CD's. Shame on LG for not doing better. Oh, and did I mention that there IS an update but you have to buy it. Yeah. I later found that HP makes a similar product that is probably better just based on the brand.

Great external DVD for my laptop.
