I use this product for a disk drive for my netbook. Works great!

I'm happy I purchased the disk drive with only 1 connection cord instead of 2 like the lower priced one. It did it's job with no real complaints. seems to vibrate a little on my desk, but it's expected with a disk spinning that fast...

I burned many a cd with this drive, and it always worked wonderfully!

Durable charging case that protects & provides ample battery increase.

I would recommend it to anyone needing an external DVD player/burner

I purchased this with a Mac mini since it does not come with one. It has been serviceable and operated as expected. The only real downfall has been that the "Eject" button on my keyboard doesn't open the tray. Other than that, a good product.

Excellent adapter if your notebook does not have a cd unit.

Did not have a chance to use this it was returned but the reviews were great which is why I purchased it.

Plugs in, works. Downside is it uses two USB plugs.

The product worked fine but I decided to exchange for the Apple USB SuperDrive the LG unit was a bit flimsy for me.

Sometimes it write DVD sometimes the DVD work and sometime it doesn't. Not sure if drive or DVD.

I have used it a couple times. Sometimes I have a hard time getting it to read the disc.

The instructions state, in pertinent part [after connecting the USB cable to your computer] "WHEN the computer is ready, confirm that the drive is detected. And, THEN, insert the supplied software CD into the drive and install the software." (emphasis added). Error 1. At least on an iMac, the computer does not show the drive has been detected UNTIL a CD is inserted in the drive. Hence, the first condition in the instructions above can not be met and further would seem to indicate a problem has occurred. Error 2. After returning to Best Buy to consult about error #1, I was told that one need not insert the software CD at all, as long as the computer is connected to the internet. This is not mentioned in the instructions. To test this advice, I inserted a music CD in the drive. I never inserted the software CD at all. Upon inserting the music CD, the drive was recognized and displayed on the computer screen, and I uploaded the music successfully. So, the experience with this drive is much different than other devices I use, such as an external hard drive or thumb drives in that connecting the device to the USB port is not sufficient for the computer to register that it has detected the LG portable drive. I hope it works better than the instructions. Can't comment on that as I only had it for a day. As others have stated, I only purchased this because the iMac no long comes with a CD drive integral to the computer, but CDs are not (yet) obsolete. I hope I can install my turbotax CD.. At least the price was not too much of a penalty.

I like this little drive. It works fine and it is lightweight. Make sure you have 2 USB ports next to each other because you will need them both. It is very fast if you have the new USB ports. If you are using a USB external hub, you might be less happy.

Works right out of the box. No software, setup, or installation needed. Got this on sale for use with my MAC computers (since they no longer come with optical drives). Used it to install some software and also to copy a movie to iTunes. Read and copied really, really fast (I was actually surprised). No power cord needed, works just off the USB cable.

Nice, affordable, and easy to use. Highly recommend.

My internal DVD writer/reader that came with my PC from 2005 started to act up on me, so I disabled it and purchased this LG drive. I've only used this for a few hours so far, but it's worked like a charm. Windows automatically recognized the drive and no software was needed. <= Was worried about that as I had heard of other burners that installed malware -- not this one. It took me about 11 minutes to burn a full-sized data DVD (single layer). Burning process is quiet, as well. Lightweight device (may want to fasten it down somehow so you don't pull it off your table when ejecting your disc).

I was somewhat skeptical buying this as I was worried about compatibility but my worries were unwarranted as it works perfectly with the Mac software as well as Windows 7 and 8. The price was great as there was a sale and I had a $5 coupon. I recommend this LG device.

I like this little drive it is light and small and perfect for my backpack. the only drawback is its light weight. it is so light that it is hard to push the button to open. gotta use two hands, one to hold and one to push. but overall for my purpose a great fit.
