The phone constantly wouldn't stop rebooting. I couldn't get my data even transfered from my old phone to this phone. And that phone was the previous model the LG G4.Tried multiple things, and when researching this phone I found this is a known issue. After a day in a half of trying things I gave up and returned the phone back to Best Buy.

I bought this phone a few months ago. After about 2 months i started noticing pixel burn at the bottom of the screen where the nav buttons are. I contacted AT&T and they sent me a replacement phone. after receiving the replacement phone, I tried using my maps app and could not connect to GPS. So i contacted AT&T again and they are sending me a third phone. hopefully third times a charm here because I really like the phone when it works. The camera is great and it's as fast as any other phone I've played around with. Battery life is decent but this is one of the only phones now with a removable battery which was a big deal for me.

I bought this a few weeks ago and and wanted to wait a little bit before posting my review. I am coming from a ATT S5 Active. It was running out of memory because many apps will not let you move them to the SD card. I was also disappointed that it was unlikely to get an upgrade to Marshmallow so I wanted an unlocked phone. People said that LG is very quick in getting out updates. Even though I still have 6 months on the contract, I needed more memory and 32gb seems enough internal memory for me with the microSD card for extra files/apps that can be moved to the SD card. I like the replaceable battery which the Samsung S7 did not have. The S7 has slightly better pictures in low light, but in daylight both do well and I have two real cameras that do better in low light. The wide angle lens will also come in useful. I am glad that my phone did not have the backlight bleed issue of some early T Mobile G5s. The processor is super fast. The battery life seems to be better than reviews I saw online. I use Greenify to decrease battery usage by background apps. Streaming online video for 30 minutes used about 7% battery life for an estimate of about about 6.5 hours to drain the battery from 100% down to 9%. This is without any other apps running in the background. Looking at reviews online and compared to my S5 Active, the AMOLED seems brighter, but the IPS screen is still bright enough for me. Even though it is carrier unlocked, the bootloader is locked. I just hope that there will eventually be a way to unlock it similar to the T Mobile and European versions. I am sure I would have liked the S7 also, but I feel more assured that when the battery starts to get weak in 2 years or so, I can just replace the battery.

    So Far So Great!

I needed to get a phone asap because my out of warranty LG G4 boot looped. I really loved that phone and after quickly reading reviews about the G5 and playing with it in person at Best Buy, I thought it seemed great. So far I haven't been disappointed! First and foremost it is important to point out that even though I purchased the unlocked version, I have a US Warranty for 1 year. I have read that if you purchase a Samsung model unlocked, it does not come with the warranty. This is super important to me based on my past experience so points for LG for that (you should confirm re: Samsung before you make a final decision). I LOVE the upgrade to the fingerprint sensor, it is pretty amazing and works great. The camera is awesome!!!! I'm in love. And not only can you take those cool wide angle photos, there are other photo features too, such as pop out photos and multiple frames. It's pretty speedy and I haven't had any issues with it. I didn't buy it for its modular capabilities which seem to be in the early stages. I don't anticipate using the "friends." I do love, however, that I have expandable storage and a removable battery. Those 2 features (plus the camera) sold me on LG in the first place.

I have been a galaxy user for a long time. This is a first non samsung device I have ever bought. So far this phone is way better than Samsung phone. Especially, the quality of camera is outstanding. I thought android phone could never beat IPhone in terms of camera quality. But I was wrong, my G5’s camera is better than my wife iPhone. LG5 is probably the most underrated phone in the market. But the quality of the phone is one of the best among android phones. I will stick to LG android phone from now on.

So far so good. The phone is great on a budget, it was on sale, and the features and cameras are very nice. The software updates in about 5-10 minutes to the newest Android OS. I definitely recommend this phone!

    Don not buy this phone!

Don't buy this phone! I had my G5 for 2 days then it would not turn on. I took it to Best Buy where the phone was purchased through AT&T, and they said they could not replace the phone as it would not turn on. They advised me to contact LG warranty to address this issue. I send my Phone in for warranty and got it back 3 weeks later. On first inspection of the phone the SIM card tray was missing. After I called LG, I said they screwed up and they replied "the technician discarded your Sim Card tray when doing repair". After over a week of call and begging they finally agreed to send me a replacement tray for the SIM. Once it arrived, I went to put the SIM card and tray into the phone and noticed that the technician had damaged the phone. The case around the screen had been pried (possibly to remove screen) and there was now a gap between the screen and the case was bent with a scratch on a brand new phone. The phone was not like this when I sent it. So I went ahead and put battery in and tried to fire up the phone. The phone would not turn on..... What a comedy of errors. Again I had to return a 2 day old non-working phone for a second time. In total I have spend over 3 hours on the phone on hold with LG and made 2x trips to Best Buy (approx 2 hours). To be honest LG warranty staff are in an overseas call center, cannot understand basic English and completely wasted my time and gave me the run around. To make matters worse, they cannot repair and now cannot replace a lemon of a phone that they damaged and returned in an un-working state. 8 weeks now and counting without a phone I purchased outright. Bottom line, this company and their customer service is a joke!

This is a great phone, have had no issues with it. Love the camera and all the customization you can do to the phone. Previously had the iPhone 6 which seems kind of blah now. The only issue was it says it works on both cdma and gms networks we use Ting which works off of Sprint network but when we got it it wasn't compatible with Ting, they gave us a model number it would work with went to Best Buy to return it and they actually had the model number we needed so they exchanged the phone for us no problem and gave me the online price for that model which was much lower.

I feel in love with the G series after my first LG G3, got the G4 and after it malfunctioned decided to stay in the family and get the G5. I was turned off by their switch to the tradition side volume button but I got over it, then they got rid of the excellent functionality of the notification panel where I used to have my remote for easy access and could no longer do that, they got ride of the app drawer (but with LG world you can get it back, its riddled with bugs especially when I swap out my battery with my extra one upon reboot theres always a different issue, and finally my last straw was finding out they also got rid of the audio splitter feature the former phone used to have where someone using Bluetooth headphones could also have another person listen to media using plugged in earphones. I thought phones where supposed to get better but this one got worse, they took everything I loved about the G series phones and seemed set out of getting rid of it all. I am honestly considering going back to the G4. This phone is still overall good but as someone who knows what this series had, and what Ive lost Im finding it extremely hard to enjoy.

We put the phone on the charger at night while an Update was loading. The next morning, it would not recognize any Pass Code, Finger Print or the image you draw on the dots. I am afraid we lost everything trying to get it to work. We have no choice but to mail it back to LG as soon as I find the receipt. I was traveling thru Florida when I bought it. How ever, the second one I bought is still working fine. (so far)

The phone should have been great. After 4 hours the phone started crashing. Eventually it just died. I had to do everything possible just to get it back up to delete my info. It took over 2 hours to get it to work again. It will be returned today.
