The controls are very annoying and it will take you 3 or 4 times as long to set the time you want than the standard quick start functions many microwaves have today. I bought it about 6 or so months ago and waited to do a review thinking maybe I would get used to the controls on the microwave. It has not stopped annoying me. Also you cant set 15 seconds if that is what you want. You can do 10 or 20. Same thing for 25 seconds no can dol. you are stuck with 10 second intervals. Plus there is no number keypad to set a time and the bar for setting the time takes forever swiping back and fourth to finally get the time you want to set. I have gotten used to it some but it has never failed to annoy me when I go to set the time. I may just sell this so I can get something more user friendly.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wish I had listened when literally everyone I knew told me to never buy LG appliances. I bought this microwave about 4 years ago, mainly because I wanted to match the other appliances in my kitchen, and the options for this finish are limited. It worked fine at first, but then slowly started taking longer and longer to heat food. One day, I started the microwave, and the entire circuit it was on blew. I tried it again after flipping the breaker-- same thing. Then I tested it on a completely different outlet/circuit, and it blew that one, too. I called LG's warranty department, and they told me that the closest certified LG technician in my area was an hour round-trip drive from me, I'd be responsible for paying any diagnostic fees, and they would not pay for any repairs unless it was *specifically* the Magnetron that was faulty. So LG would have me drive over two hours, pay probably $75 minimum (nearly half the cost of the microwave) just to have someone tell me what the problem even is, and take the gamble that it might be that specific part so that the repair would be covered. Between the hassle of dealing with LG's customer service, the diagnostic fee, the drive time, and the cost of gas back and forth, there is no incentive to do anything other than buy a brand-new one. Worst excuse for a "warranty" I've ever heard of. And, based on all the similar reviews I've stumbled upon while troubleshooting the issue, this is not by any means an isolated incident. It simply is an unreliable piece of garbage. I know this microwave looks nice, but I truly have your best interests at heart when I implore you not to buy it. It will not last, and you will have less than zero help from the manufacturer when it inevitably gives out.

Stopped Heating - TWICE

We originally purchased one right after Christmas and it was defective right out of the box. It wouldn't heat any food so we returned immediately. Thankfully we still had our old one to use while we ordered a replacement. We received our replacement the beginning of January. It just quit heating yesterday. Not even a month old! The first one not heating we thought was a fluke, but the exact same one a month later failing the exact same way...I believe it's a problem with the product. Dealing with LG was ridiculous. They asked for proof of purchase emailed to them with the case number they gave me, then someone will reach out to me within 3-5 days to let me know if they will even authorize the replacement and then it could be another 7-10 days before they send one. The LG representative tried to blame not only us (implying we didn't have it plugged in to an appropriate outlet) and UPS (it was probably damaged in shipping). I asked him if there was anything he could do for us because we will be without a microwave and his response was "you'll just have to deal with it". Not having it...so I called google express which is where we completed the 2nd purchase. It was shipped and sold by Best Buy but we were able to get $20 off using google express. They were SO helpful. They sent me a prepaid return shipping label to send the microwave back, will give a full refund and even gave me a courtesy credit to use on a future purchase. This way we can go out and get a microwave and know we will get the full refund of the defective one, solving both of our problems! This was our first and last experience with LG appliances. Just the inconvenience alone is enough to make us purchase another brand.

broke after 3 weeks

LG customer service said I could get a refund but it's now been over 3 months and no refund. I had to write 2 letters and make numerous phone calls - LG is a nightmare to deal with, Their customer service people are barely understandable over the phone, and they never follow up on any of my letters. I just emailed the company again and now they are asking for the same documentation already sent them. I filed complaints with the BBB, the FTC, and the State Atty General, the next step will be to sue them in small claims court. This has been a huge waste of time and frustration, I will never purchase an LG product again - a very unprofessional corporation who do not honor their warranties. Also won't purchase from Best Buy again - a 15 day return window for defective products is unacceptable, especially when you have to deal with a company who won't honor the warranty.

no keypad hard to use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.while i like everything, keypad is missing and you can only set in 10 second interval, or 30 second. you can't do 5 second or 15 second. that's very difficult to use. i wish i had purchased another model, its been 2 month and i am stucked with this model.

Does not heat well

When we first tried it out, it heated the bowl, but not the soup so that I burned myself on the bowl. I called customer service and they told me to unplug it for two minutes to reset it then plug it back in. I did this and at least I don't burn myself, but whatever I am cooking doesn't heat up very well. My old microwave was the same strength and size as this and it heated up liquids in 1:30 seconds. This is still cold at the same length of time. After about 3:00 it starts to heat the product and then it is still cold in some spots. I bought an LG because they are supposed to be innovative, but I have to tell you, I probably won't consider an LG again for any products after my experience with the microwave.

Not Quality

The LED screen has number segments that went out. So reading the time or count down is difficult. Unfortunately this expensive device only comes with a 1 year warranty. So LG won't do anything to fix the faulty LED panel. I would NOT buy this again.

Failed to heat in less than 10 months!

Cumbersome warranty that instead of refunding cash requires the purchaser purchase another LG unit, which given its very short functional life I did not want to do. Would highly recommend listening to the unit before purchase and if you don't like the various alert chirpings, insist that the sales person show you how to disable all sounds. If they can't, DON'T BUY IT. There may be ways to do it with the buttons on other LG models, but LG provides no instructions for doing so on the LMC 1575!!

If you love arcs/fires, you’ll love this microwave

The warranty says 10 years, but that’s just for the magnetron. The parts and labor warranty are only 1 year. Quite convenient for it to stop working right when the warranty runs out. Never buying from LG again.

3 years old and door latch broke

Regretting this purchase

Despite the wattage it’s not very powerful. You can’t program time directly, you have to use + and - functions, there is no manual way to set the clock (you have to unplug it) and it has a terrible song that plays when food is done vs a typical buzzer.

Broke after 3 years.

This is a common cause of a broken magnetron, which has an extended warranty with this model. Contacted LG and was told the amount to have a technician repair would be $314.00 for service/labor. I paid $181.00 when I purchased it! Warrant only covers the cost of the part. This was the first and last time I purchase an LG brand product.

Terrible

I am overwhelmed with how bad this product is and how bad LG's customer service is. As with some of the other reviews of this product, our microwave stopped heating after a few months. Best Buy told us to contact LG directly. Shame on you Best Buy for putting your customers through this this. I called LG, they had us do a quick test to determine that the microwave indeed stopped functioning properly. They asked us to submit a copy of our receipt so they could send us a refund. I sent the receipt the same day. A week later I called to find out the status of our refund. There was no update to provide and the customer service rep "escalated" my inquiry to the same dept. who failed to respond initially within the 3 - 5 days. I was told it would be another 3 - 5 days again. The following day, I received an email stating that before they can process my refund, I had to purchase another LG product and submit the model and serial number stickers from the back of the new LG unit along with my receipt. I was instructed to remove the stickers from the unit, tear them in half, and attach them to the form letter they provided stating I would indemnify LG from any and all expenses associated with disposing the faulty unit. Once I signed and submitted this letter, my refund will be processed in 2 - 4 WEEKS!!! Why would I purchase another LG product after this? Shame on you Best Buy for allowing your customers to have to go thru this. The hoops I am required to jump through to get a refund for a defective product is ridiculous! Not only am I unwilling to purchase another LG product, I am also unwilling to shop at Best Buy. The sales rep at Best Buy highly recommended this product. I strongly encourage Best Buy to stop selling this item.

This thing couldn't melt a bowl of ice cream.

First, I had the 2.0 cu. ft. model and then the 1.5 cu. ft. model. We got no more than 1.5 years out of either one, and they both went out the same way... They simply stopped heating. The MW still sounded like it was working, the turntable still turned, the buttons worked, the timer, everything except you know, the food getting hot. Don't fall for the "10-year Smart Inverter Magnetron Warranty"... that's exactly what was broken on mine, but you will quickly find out that it's a parts-only warranty, and the technician coming out to replace it will cost you more than the $250 you paid for this heap of landfill-bound garbage. I bet you they haven't had to replace a single one of these "smart" inverters under warranty since day #1, since they know it creates an upside-down dollar-unwise situation. Save your time and money and buy something else. LG Makes a decent fridge, but their microwave game is garbage.

It’s ok
