Brand New Phone & Already Out of Date!

Bought this phone and realized it won't update past Oreo! Thus, it is already two version of Oreo out of date. I have bought numerous Samsung products, which once opened, update to the newest and latest version of Android. I don't understand why Best Buy would sell phones like this, which are brand new, but already out of date! Very disappointing. Buyer beware.

I have to say I am very pleased with this phone to the point that im so satisfied that I forget im having no major issues with this phone so that's why im leaving a review. The phone itself is big and has an HD screen. PERFECT for watching Netflix or youtube!! The hotspot on this phone works AMAZING!! I have seen reviews saying this phone is slow but I disagree, Im able to multitask on this phone. This phone does so much that im still learning which is always cool because the phone always seems new. HOWEVER Im not a big fan of the camera and the microphone, it is sometimes embarrassing to share the videos or pictures off this phone cause they look like they was took with a phone from 2012 while most people have HD cameras now that will make your pictures and videos look silly. Other than that I am very pleased with this phone. Oh and I also forgot to say the battery life on this thing last FOREVER. I can be on my phone for hours and it still be close to a full charge. Love it!!!

    Great Phone, Minor Drawbacks

    Posted .

Pros: Extremely Smooth and Fast (compared to other mid-range devices) Works With All Major Carriers (including Verizon/Total Wireless) Great Display USB-C Charging Fast Charging Capability Great Stylus Large Display Average-Good Battery Life 3 GB of RAM (compared to 2 GB with Metro PCS version) Cons: Back is prone to scratching easily No NFC Average Camera Detailed Review: First, let me say that, for the price, you cannot compare this phone to other $300 budget phones. This phone has a much larger screen and a Stylus. The most comparable phone to this phone speed wise would probably be the Moto G6 for $250, but keep in mind the Moto G6 does not come with a Stylus, and has a smaller screen. I owned both the Moto G6 and the LG Stylo 4, and I came away very impressed with the Stylo 4. Despite having the same processor, day to day I found that the Stylo 4 was faster than the Moto G6. (Perhaps this was due to better software optimization being on Android 8.1). While the Moto would struggle scrolling through certain apps and would freeze occasionally, the Stylo (once you get all your apps set up and everything downloaded), has been very smooth. The Stylus also works great. The LG Stylo 4, in my opinion, is a must upgrade from all previous Stylo phones including the Stylo 3 Plus. The Stylo 4 now has a power button on the right side of the phone (previous Stylo's used the fingerprint scanner on the back as a power button) and this Stylo 4 is a much more premium device. It has 3 GB of RAM (all previous Stylo phones have had 2 GB of RAM or less. Also, the Metro PCS version of the Stylo 4 only has 2 GB of RAM. This version is also unique because this version has USB-C charging (finally). It also has a Snapdragon 450 processor (same processor used in the Moto G6). This processor is basically similar to the Snapdragon 636, it is just "underclocked". I've seen reviews on youtube that down play this phone. They would argue that it is better to spent $150 on a used Note 5. But I recently had a used LG G6, and I can tell you, those "used phones" are over two years old. The average phone only lasts two to three years, so your basically buying a phone that could have issues any minute. Your also buying a phone on older software. If you compare this phone to new phones, it is a good value. You might get a phone with a slightly better processor for $300, but you won't get the Stylus functionality or the screen size that the Stylo gives you. In short: If you want a big screen, a phone that has many premium features for a smaller cost, and of course, a phone with a Stylus, then the Stylo 4 is a great device for you. If you don't care about the Stylus or a huge phone, the Moto G6 COULD be a good alternative. It has the same RAM and processor, but personally I had some issues with mine. A "open box" Moto X4 is a good alternative (to get a good deal). One more recommendation: One way to save money is to buy this phone, or any unlocked phone with a service card and a service plan. Personally I knew someone that needed simple mobile service, so I was able to give the service to a friend, and that allowed me to get $50 off of this phone. I am using it on Total Wireless and it is working great!

I recently broke my iPhone X, when i was told itd be a week before i could expect my knew phone, i knew i had to find something cheap in the meantime. (Im a delivery driver so i just needed a phone to make calls and gps) I went to metro to look for a phone thatd suffice me until i get mine back. I had the mindset of just buying an iphone 6s, but they didnt have any in stock. I look at the samsung j7, moto E, and the alcatel 1x evolve. I almost bought the moto e, however the screen on the lg stylo waa bigger and felt more fitting for my job. I dont use the stylus much, but its a nice option to have. The phone is what youd expect from a cheaper phone, but in comparison to my iphone, it definitely holds its own. The cameras arent great, but not horrible by any means. The phone is a little laggy, but only when open apps and running to much software at one time. I would HIGHLY recommend this phone to someone who is on the market for their first phone, or looking for 'bang for your buck' Also, it should be known i am FAR from an android fan. But this phone mightve changed my mind. I could see myself owning LG's flagship as my next phone.

I needed to get an unlocked phone, but was wary on price. I managed to pick this one up for $210 on a special. I was expecting less for that price, but I have been pleasantly surprised by this phone. The camera is surprisingly good, apps seem to run fine, and the stylus is more useful than I anticipated, and is handy for selecting text to copy and paste. Overall, I'm pleased with the purchase. I'm using this phone on Verizon Wireless, and while it's missing Wi-Fi calling (although you can get that on T-Mobile networks) VoLTE works perfectly.

    Just a Great Stylus Phone

I recently bought a LG STYLO 3 phone with Total Wireless ..I can say for a $129 phone , that I was more than impressed with how far LG has come along.. My downfall with the stylo 3 was going back to micro USB ..and NOT having quickcharge ..That was to be expected on a budget phone..Then the Stylo 4 came out and I just HAD to get it... The battery lasts all day , and the screen is just the right size for me ..The camera is adequate if the lighting is good.. I liked the stylus placement better on the 3 verses the 4 , but it sure isn't a deal-breaker for what you get for your money ..All in all..if you want a great phone with a stylus , you are going to be pretty happy with this purchase.. I know I am !!
