Customers are saying

Customers are enthusiastic about the TurboWash 4.3 Cu. Ft. 12-Cycle High-Efficiency Steam Front-Loading Washer's quiet operation, excellent cleaning ability, and ease of use. Many appreciate its large capacity and effective spin cycle, resulting in clothes that are drier after washing. While some users noted issues with the door seal and occasional odor, the positive feedback on cleaning performance and quietness significantly outweighs these concerns. The energy efficiency is also a frequently cited advantage.

    Great performance

This replaced a 10 year old Whirlpool Duet. The control panel is intimidating at first glance but quite logical and easy to use. The various wash programs can be customized very quickly. The first thing we have noticed is that most of our wash times are shorter than they were with the Whirlpool. The LG begins a cycle by sensing the size of the load and adjusting the amount of water to be used as well as the wash time accordingly. The Whirlpool adjusted water levels but wash times were all fixed. Normal loads in the LG take about 37 minutes or less. A load we ran on "sanitary" took about 90 minutes -- 30 minutes less than the old Whirlpool. So far it does a great job with everything we have tried: delicates, normal clothing, towels, bedding---everything. A few reviews had mentioned a water hammer effect but we have not had any problems. This machine is very quiet, efficient, versatile and easy to use. Highly recommended.

    Fantastic Washer

Absolutely, this is a fantastic machine. Those reviewers who have downplayed it, saying "It doesn't clean my clothes" or "too sudsy" have to be doing something wrong. My whites are whiter than they've ever been, and the steam cycle gets them super fresh. Those reviewers who gave it a low rating because of a leak, well, that's unfortunate. Mechanical devices can malfunction and it's not to LG's good reputation not to deal with these problems effectively. But, assuming you don't get a defective machine, you will love it. The machine is very easy to use, the high speed spin gets the close almost dry (the dryer needs maybe 30 minutes to finish them off), and it is extremely quiet (that's a relative measurement; it's a washing machine!). The only sound I really hear is the soft slapping of the wet clothes as they tumble through their cycles. The spin is very quiet and vibration free. The **ONLY** minor irritant is that I had to buy the little Sioux Chief water hammer arrestors from a big box hardware store to deal with it. Water hammer is a known issue with the the quick-operating valves used by LG; they should include them in the package. Regardless, their addition (after two weeks of wondering what was that annoying sound) was the final bit to these becoming the best machines we ever had, and we've had two other major-brand, high-dollar front loaders in the past, and this washer surpasses them both. Now, if I could just figure out how to replace the little song that plays at the end of the cycle with something else, I'd be set!

    Quick and quiet washing machine

Bought this washer when our 15 year old Maytag stopped doing the spin cycle and we where left with sopping wet clothes. The new LG is much quieter than the Maytag and the inclusion of the steam clean cycle is an interesting twist. Not sure if our clothes are getting any cleaner, but it is nice to have. Since this washer is more like a computer than our previous model, you may want to make sure it is plugged into a surge protector - the first zap will kill the motherboard on this washer and the entire machine.

Good washer but leaks a bit.

I have had this for about 2 months now and sometimes it leaks water from underneath. Its not a lot and doesn't seem to be on a regular basis but if it were not on a solid hard surface it would be a problem. Aside from that it does a good job washing my clothes and can handle my large queen size comforter with the bed sheets. Its very quiet and I think its funny that it sings to you when its done. I have not tried to download new cycles for it, the ones it comes with have worked for everything I need. I find that if you leave the door and soap dish open a bit you don't get that moldy smell and can go longer with having to run the cleaning cycle with bleach. I try to use as little chemicals as possible these days as me and my dog are reactive to them. I use the free and clear detergent so running bleach a lot is counter productive for me.

This is my first front loading washer, and so far it has proven to be more economical (water and electricity) compared to my older top loading washer. As for time, some settings could take up to 2 hours (e.g. bulk items or sanitary), but instead of waiting I set an alarm and go do other things. I like its modern design and color, and it goes well with the matching dryer.

This machine is a solid workhorse. We do 5 loads a week and have never had a bit of trouble in the more than a year since we purchased it. The setting choices are excellent -- enabling us to achieve the wash temperature and spin combination we want.

    Leaking door from the beginning

Washer was installed by Best Buy and seemed to work well. After a few washes noticed a small leak of water running down from the bottom of the front loading door. Looked on-line to trouble shoot the problem, which did not help. The seal is not damaged and door appears to be closing completely. Therefore I called LG customer service which again wanted me to trouble shoot the problem. Still leaking, and getting worse. Then they were willing to send out a technician but only have morning appointment. Since I work in the daytime, this does not work. I should not have to take time off work for an appliance that does not work properly one month after purchasing. I was told to call back EVERY DAY to try and get a later appointment. I asked to speak to a manager. She advised me to call around to other appliance repair centers and try to find one contracted through them who would repair at a later hour or weekend. So now I get to find a repair company, hope they are contracted with LG and set up the appointment myself? This appliance is one month old and already malfunctioning. LG should be doing everything they can to repair the problem. Instead they are giving me another problem to deal with. I will not be purchasing another LG appliance due to their customer service alone.

Great washer, understand the BB warranty!!

The sales people were great, helpful and patient. Our washer/dryer was not in stock, so they upgraded for no extra cost. The first install was poor, didn't level the washer (which you could see with the naked eye that it wasn't), or stay through 2 wash cycles like we were told they'd do at time of sale. They were in a hurry, which all explains why they were 3 hours early. They returned at our request, and I basically had to beg them to level the washer. I hope the install staffing improves. We had difficulty getting details of the BB "extended" warranty. Long story short, if you purchase the 5 year, expecting a matching 5 years for all major parts like we were told, ask to see it in writing. The BB policy for front loading washers for years 6-10 (if you buy the 5 yr plan) only covers motor and drum. Those items are already covered by the mfr. for 10 years. The Best Buy in-store sales staff did try hard to help us, but we seemed to get several answers to the warranty question. Not sure where the breakdown was. The washer itself is preforming well, and pleased with the choice. No complaints. Note: the spin cycle for towels practically removes all water, awesome.

Replaced high end 16 year old washer and dryer with this LG combo. My how times have changed. Internet reviews showed LG tops for 8 years! Today, Jonathan and Michael did a REAL professional delivery (on time) and set up.... perfect. Used the LG washer and dryer.... WOW. One of the first items washed was a 17 year old grayed out t shirt I use to do the lawn (it started out white)... it came out white! Say what!!! It hasn't been coming out white for about 15 years!! So...... the washer weighs the clothes and determines how much water and how much detergent to use. Is that not amazing? This is fun!

So far, a very good machine

We've had this less than a month. Consumer Reports had it as one of their higher rated washing machines. Went by Best Buy on my way home and they had this model for $350 off, making it cheaper than the model below it and only $30 more than the base model, so that was an easy decision. The controls, while versatile, are easy to use. If you have an android phone with NFC you can download additional programs and updates. The machine gets the clothes clean and it is fairly quick on a regular load. The steam function is nice. I've read some negative reviews about hammer knocking on the water fill stage, but i read the installation manual (even though best buy installed it) and they warn a couple of times to tie the fill hoses and discharge hose together (they supply a nylon tie) and to make sure your household water pressure is within a certain range. really, if your water pressure is above that, maybe you should call a plumber because you're going to eventually have a host of other problems. anyway, so far this is a very good washing machine for the money.

Purchased this washer from Best Buy about a month ago. So far I've been extremely impressed. I was worried about the concerns regarding the seal leaking and the potential for a mildew smell. We haven't experienced any of that so far... You do have to wipe out the seal after washing your clothes and then leave the door open to ensure everything dries out, but that's a quick process and worth it for such a good washer in my opinion.

Coming from a 7 year old Whirpool Duet 3.7 cubic ft front loader this new LG seems like a major upgrade! Love all the cycle options, the steam feature, and the looks! Cleans very well......... Got a great sale price, I could not be any happier with this purchase.
