Cleans so much better than my last machine.

This machine is replacing our 20+ year old top loader, so the contrast is striking in many ways. The capacity is about 1-1/2 times our old machine. Some of our family members work with industrial oils, fuel, and lubricants, and their clothes used to come out of our old machine still smelling. There is still a slight odor, which I would expect, but the odor is now only faintly noticeable. In terms of noise, our old machine emitted a low, powerful hum while agitating. Now we hear about five short intermittent clunks at the beginning when the tub is turning and filling. Other than that I don't hear much noise at all until the spin cycle, but nothing beyond what I would expect. I noticed at least one other reviewer complained that the the clothes come out twisted, but I see no evidence of that. As a matter of fact, this machine extracts a lot more water from the clothes WITHOUT manhandling them. On an average, I have been able to reduce our drying time from about 50 minutes to 37-40 minutes for a large load. The options are awesome, and I especially like the hand wash setting (even gentler than the delicates) for wool sweaters. In other words, so far I love this machine. If we could have fit it, I would have chosen the WM8000 5.2 capacity model, but this one is a custom fit in our laundry room, and is plenty big. My hunch is that it's the exact same machine as the WM8000, but just a little smaller at 4.3 cu ft. You should be aware that a little maintenance is required for front loaders, but don't let that deter you. You have to clean the pump filter once a month, which is a 2-minute task. You're also supposed to wipe the rubber drum seal and the inside of the door after each use to prevent mildew. I wipe it every three times or so, and it seems to be fine. Just make sure to always keep the door ajar when not doing a load.

    Poor Design

This machine leaked from the first load. Best Buy has ignored me. LG is ignoring me. This is a poorly designed machine. I have been told that the cause of the leaks is too much soap yet I use HE detergent and only fill it to the bottom of the flange and not to the Normal Load line as directed by LG. I have been calling Best Buy for over two months until it finally sent out a member of the Geek Squad who could not duplicate the problem so he called LG twice. The first call was useless. The second call resulted in the tech removing the sleeve from the valve inside of the hose which stopped the leaking but resulted in the machine rattling during the spin cycle with the door pulsating as if it is going to open. An LG tech was scheduled and instead of coming to the address where the machines were delivered and where the machines were registered, he went to my old address. From day one this has been a nightmare. And continues to be so with the apathy of Best Buy and LG.

    Hard hard journey

We bought a LG washer in 2009 and thank goodness we purchased the extended warranty. We have had so many problems and it has required numerous expensive repairs. In the first year under LG's warranty we knew it was a lemon. After four years of replacing numerous parts it is deemed unrepairable. Our service person from the warranty company called LG and gave us a number to hopefully replace it. After five weeks of working with them we were given two reference numbers and felt confident that the problem was being solved and they had our initial sales receipt. We found out we have been working with a call center in the Philippines from a LG representative in Alabama. When I asked why they have indicated to us things were progressing he said you are dealing with people in the Philippines and they are going to tell you want you want to hear. In the end, I was told our washer had gone for final review and we would be contacted in 10 to 12 business days about its possible replacement since it is unrepairable. When I called to find out why I had not heard back, I was given the run around again. It was only when I insisted several times on talking to corporate that I learned we would have to go through the extended warranty company which was not the information we received at first. So for over six weeks we believed LG was handling this professionally only to find we had been given the run around and dealing with people who really did not understand what they were doing. I am very concerned about this kind of professionalism and why we weren't told after numerous calls and all the information they had that they were not going to replace our washer. So if you have problems beware that even though you feel reassured the problem is being dealt with, it might not be. So why did they lead us on for five weeks and numerous phone calls? They could have told us initially we were on the wrong path. Sent from my iPad

Broke down after using it for 1 1/2 weeks

I bought the matching washer and dryer, well the washer started having problems after using it for 1 1/2 weeks. It would show an "LE" error and stop in the middle of a cycle. I would have to wait for a while and restart. A load needed 3 restarts. The LG tech came out and said that it would need to have the following replaced: 1.hull sensor 2.main board 3.wire harness. I called LG and asked for a replacement machine given that it was a brand new machine, spoke to the reps, a supervisor and a manager. I was told that LG does not have a replacement warranty and can only repair their products. This is going to be my first and last LG appliance, I am going back to Samsung.

    Huge disappointment

This is the WORST washer I have ever owned. Used for about a month. The spin cycle does not tumble the clothes when it is finished so they come out looking like they went through my Grandmothers wringer washer. So wrinkled the dryer will not remove them. My sweaters and blankets are covered with fuzz balls. When the washer is filling with water, the pressure cuts on and off so hard that it vibrates the plumbing throughout my whole house. The cycles are very long and do not even do an effective job of getting clothes clean. Most expensive money I have ever wasted.

I had a LG washer that was great, I replaced with latest LG washer loaded with feature. everything was good until washer started leaking overflowing soap/water and created a mess. I switched to Samsung and lets see how that goes.
