Great Monitor if Manufacturing didn’t plague it…
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start this review by saying it is a great monitor… if hardware manufacturing problems didn’t plague it. Originally, I bought this monitor based on highly recommended YouTube reviewers like “Hardware Unboxed” and “PcCentric”. However, after a week of normal use, gaming, school, and work, it wouldn’t turn off (as shown in pictures); not because of windows settings or the 1.4 display port cable, but because the firmware was faulty. In the same manner, half of the screen would appear white (as shown in pictures) and would flicker continuously. This is coming from someone who bought five of these suckers, and who has been in pc gaming for nearly 10 years, and never have I experience poor manufacturing ever in those years. From my experience, LG needs to bring this to the attention of manufacturing as this will deter the consumer from the brand itself. Now of course, this could just be my luck but again, what are the odds of this happening? And what are the odds that people, who aren’t as vocal as I am about technology, don’t say something? I truly hope that LG fixes this issue because it would be a shame for a promising product to go to waste.

Too much backlight bleed!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall a good monitor, but it is let down by horrible backlight bleed. Now this will vary between units, but I ended up returning mine. Colors are excellent, contrast is very poor. I ended up getting the MSI MAG 274QRF-QD instead, which has way less backlight bleed and even better colors.

Trash
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked for 4 days then started giving me a blank screen and purple screen when I would shut off my PS5. I would have to remove the power source for it to work again. Replaced it with another one and the same issue arose after 2 weeks this time. Monitor was very well taken care of but it is a poor product. Not worth 500

Bummed
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After a year of purchase panel developed a black vertical line. I guess there is a reason for the 1-year warranty. :( Up until then it's been a great monitor and I only buy LG monitors and TVs never having an issue. With no warranty my only option would be to replace it.

Never buy the floor model "open box"
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the floor model as "open box" in "good" condition with no damage supposedly. The corner of the display was damaged but I could live with that so I didn't return. Now I am having horrible image retention issues that are making the monitor nearly unusable. Would not recommend ever buying a floor model monitor, lesson learned.

Back light bleeding
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was recommended this product by a few people, and had high expectations. The jump from 1080 to 1440 was awesome, HOWEVER the back light bleeding issue is toooo noticeable and I can not convince myself to ignore it. I will be returning it for an exchange.

Atrocious black uniformity
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely terrible black uniformity. Everything looked good until I played some games with dark black screens, and even in the not so dark scenes the backlight bleed was noticeable. Just completely unacceptable for a $450 monitor.

Backlight bleeding
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Product came with the bottom left part of the gram slightly bent, causing unsightly backlight bleeding in the bottom portion of the screen. This is ridiculous considering the cost. The quality control needs to be improved.

Dead Pixel + Backlight Bleed But Otherwise Solid
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is a very nice monitor, I use it for work and gaming. It was packaged very well, easy to set up on its stand or a monitor arm which I preferred. The monitor feels very light and the bezels are pretty slim. There was very noticeable backlight bleed near the bottom of the screen, although turning down the brightness to 10% makes it a lot less noticeable. I debated returning it for that reason but these units sold out quickly once they went on sale and I haven't been able to find it in stock apart from open-box units. I was surprised to see that there were no speakers. I tried using the audio jack on the back of the monitor to plug in my speakers but something about the audio going from my MacBook Pro (USB C -> HDMI -> 3.5mm Audio -> Speakers) to the speakers wasn't working properly and the audio kept clipping out. I am inclined to believe this is due to the USB-C to HDMI specifically on a Mac and I haven't had time to test the same using my PC to make sure. The colors are crisp and the blacks look excellent. The higher refresh rate is also very nice. It looks pretty good right out of the box and even better once you calibrate it a little. During the workday, I have it off to the side and rotated 90 degrees in portrait mode to display longer files of cod. It's also nice to have Outlook and Slack up split between the top and the bottom. I use it alongside an ultra wide 34" LG which serves as my primary display for work. When gaming, I use this monitor in landscape orientation as I prefer the flat screen and higher refresh rate for that purpose. I have been really happy with the monitor for the past few weeks but I've just developed a single dead pixel in a pretty noticeable spot. I am thinking about returning it since I have the My Best Buy Plus membership and get 60 days for returns. It's a shame because this is a great monitor but it seems to suffer from a lot of QC issues.

One of the Best 1440p 165 FPS Monitors
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After owning it for around three years, I can confidently state that this display/monitor ranks among the best I've ever purchased. Everything appears incredibly fluid and crisp because of the screen's 165 Hz refresh rate. For video editing, it has respectable color accuracy. The resolution is ideal for triple-A games like COD, CS2, Valorant, and others, as well as for watching films. In addition, the brightness of the monitor is so great that I have it set to 80% because of it. All things considered, it's excellent for someone seeking 1440p and a high refresh rate. Ten out of ten recommendations.

Nano IPS is not bad...Not OLED, but not bad.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was honestly unsure how I felt about Nano IPS being that I'm primarily a content creator, but I hate having to have "1 monitor for one thing" so I've always either sacrificed on gaming performance, or overall capability for color reproduction - That is, I did prior to purchasing my Acer Predator XB273GX. This monitor was it's "successor" and after spending some time calibrating it I can confirm that it was a pretty decent choice. Especially since the 1440p variant of the Predator was $699 at the time of purchase, and this was $450 with nearly the same color reproduction, contrast ratio, exact same resolution, fully working g-sync, and a faster response rate. So I took the chance, and I'm glad I did. Out of the box the reds were MASSIVELY over-saturated - which is the problem with Nano IPS. Due to the nano coating on the LED's (which I'll get to in the cons) they have a tendency to do weird things to colors since they "add" to the color reproduction space via thin transparent layers of phosphors that change the light going TO the LCD panel, so even though the panel's still the same "IPS" display that it would be in other monitors the nano coating gives them a wider color gamut - WHICH IS GREAT - after you calibrate it. I could have purchased the 850 and had "certified calibration" out of the box, but anyone that's ever calibrated a monitor knows never to trust that. Color reproduction and image reproduction is as great as my Predator, but there is slightly more noticeable ghosting on this panel. The Predator has straight up - NONE. This one has SOME, but it's faint enough to where the keenest of eyes shouldn't have a problem with it. Backlight bleed was non existent and IPS glow (what people often mistake for backlight bleed) isn't that bad either, even in a dimly lit room. Considering my LG Nano TV has HORRIBLE IPS glow THIS was my largest concern with buying an LG panel monitor; but alas, thankfully only my massively expensive TV has this issue...GREAT... Regardless, this monitor lives up to all the expectations I set forth for it, and I couldn't be happier. HDR400 certification is NICE, but the max measured lumens of this monitor on a pure white screen was 600 touching the panel vs 983 on my predator, so HDR content is pretty much guaranteed to be "eh, slightly better than SRGB" I'd stick to just using 10-bit color, and a decent ICC profile, and leave "HDR" off. RTings has a GREAT writeup on this monitor for those looking to get NEAR calibrated results on their monitor without investing in calibration tools like we designers have to. I DO notice a slight "screen door" effect when the pixels are warming up - which I found odd given the pixel density of 130+ on this monitor - but I think that's an issue created by the nano coating as it's caused no issues. I've had no dead, stuck, or burned in pixels, and image retention doesn't seem to be an issue at ALL with this monitor so that makes me happy. Some of the manufacturing edges of the monitor's bezel are actually pretty "sharp" feeling, and the panel (as is common with these designs of "thin bezels" is basically "glued" to the frame, so be weary of that. My nipple control knob is also slightly loose, and the housing around it "wobbles" ever so slightly, but that's just a minor annoyance, and nothing drastic, or to be concerned with. Updating firmware when the time comes is a bit of a chore, and the monitor has NO way to tell you whether an update's NEEDED so keep that in mind. According to LG "if it doesn't update, and you know you did it right, odds are it just doesn't need the update. We're not sure why this wasn't properly implemented ,and we're sorry." I'd rate this monitor a solid 90 out of 100 for the few tiny flaws it does have.

Excellent gaming display, but some drawbacks
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: 165Hz , G-Sync , High Quality and decent colored display, HDMI and DP come in the box Cons: OK HDR , no built in speakers, bright but not bright enough, and price Recommendations: Use this display for gsync and FREESYNC only ( you'll appreciate the smoothness and flow of the Variable refresh rates DISABLE HDR ( this isn't mini led or oled) plus colors are washed out slightly when in hdr. Dont use "Faster" mode, it has visual artifacts, only use fast setting because it is a one mode fits all setting. LG made this perfect monitor for gamers and i love it. I mainly use this gorgeous display for gaming and school work and so far it's amazing but for the price of 399??? its too far, at best it's worth 299. If purpose is extreme content creation, then you shouldn't get this, reach for at least a mini led or an oled if its going to be used for gaming/ slight content creation, work , this is a solid option for those that value high quality visuals while having a tear- free smooth experience using adaptive sync

Great Upgrade from 1080p SDR
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Going from a 13 year-old 8-bit 1080p monitor without HDR was a major upgrade. The standard on this monitor is HDR10 and it puts out 400nits of brightness, so in terms of HDR, it's not the best you can get, but to get the best you'd have to invest around $1000+ making this monitor a great value for the performance it has. I use it for PC gaming and it makes games like Red Dead Redemption 2, Flight Simulator 2020, and PGA Tour 2K23, which have HDR support, look amazing compared to my other monitor. Of course, it also helps that I'm running these games on an i9-14000KF and an RTX 4090 which keeps the frame rates over 100 fps with ultra settings. This is the whole reason to buy a monitor with 165Hz refresh as they run so much smoother with no ripping and tearing of the frames. Couldn't be happier. There's really no need to get a monitor with a higher refresh rate than this one. To sum up, for the average gamer who hasn't had access to HDR, this will be a major upgrade. The colors look great and the 165 Hz refresh rate will make game play a much more satisfying experience. There are better monitors out there, but this is probably the best you can get at this price point.
