Plays UHD Blu-rays, regular Blu-rays, DVDs, & Video files with ease... Only apps it has are Netflix & YouTube...so if your looking for a player that does more look elsewhere. Also note that there was a Dolby Vision update but it was pulled due to some issue...hopefully it will get fixed soon.

The LG UP-970 4K Ultra HD bluray is a good performer at its price point. The set up was very easy and was done in a matter of minutes. The UP970 is connected to a Calibrated LG OLED C7P and I watched "Sicario" Ultra HD Bluray disc. Sicario is a rather muted color disc but has a lot of dark scenes with very bright light back ground. The LG 970 played the disc without any artifacts and held up well in the dark scenes with great detail and the blacks were not crushed. Some very bright scenes did show good detail as well but they could have been better. OLED delivers fantastic blacks but does crush the whites a little. OLED is known to deliver great blacks at the sacrifice of the whites. I also watched Games of Thrones Bluray in 1080P. The LG970's display of 1080P did not disappoint. Compared to my previous bluray player in 1080P there is no contest, the LG won hands down. The DTS audio was excellent as well, I was pleasantly surprised how well it performed. Overall is would say that this LG Ultra HD Bluray player is an great performer at this price level.

When I saw Netflix and YouTube could be viewed via a DVD player, I was halfway to sold. Then I saw we could also watch our own streaming content, music and photos so I took the plunge and bought it. It was SO easy to set-up! I have not needed to also set-up the Apple TV since I can get Netflix just with this player. Easy interface, slim elegant design and responsive remote too; this was a fabulous purchase.

It plays 4k with hdr and bluray 3d. If the promised firmware is released, it will become the second player to support dolby vision, yet at relatively lower cost. Setup is very simple. It supports both wired and wireless ac network. apps are minimum but almost all 4k tvs have abundant apps. beware, however, march 2017 batch tends to have noisy motor/spinning issue. I returned mine and exchanged june 2017 mfg date, which is dead silent.

I have been using an Xbox One S for my 4K movie watching and after buying this cheaper 4K player, I won't watch movies from the Xbox One any longer. Dolby Vision looks great on my TCL P605. Definitely don't have buyer's remorse. Also, three 4K movies came with this player, which was the deciding factor.

4K and 3D compatible, excellent quality and interface. took 1 star off because expanding apps beyond youtube and netflix requires editing an account on your computer and isn't very intuitive.

This player works great. Fortunately, I’m not having the noise problems that everyone else is experiencing, and I hope I never will down the line (knocking on wood). UI is easy to use, and it also play MOST, not all video files when using the USB. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that they are still advertising this player that could play Dolby Vision, but many, and I mean a lot of us, are still waiting for the update. C’mon LG!! You got until the end of this year to fulfill that “promise”.

I have to say this is a great LG 4K Blu-ray player with HDR, Dolby Vision, and all the latest sound capabilities this will be a perfect match for your AV receiver, as far as the smart features go it only has Netflix and YouTube don't know if a future app update could add more but it's a great 4K Blu-ray player.

I came from the Sony X800, but it had intermittent shut off issues, otherwise it was excellent. However, it didn't have Dolby Vision and no plans for it in the future either, so I'm told. I finally had enough, and since I purchased the BB 4 yr plan, I exchanged it for this 970. It is a no nonsense, ultra low bloatware, so far, so solid 4k blu ray player. I have Apple tv for apps and roku is awesome and available low cost too. So for me, I like the simplicity of this player, not to mention Dolby Vision is finally available for it. Check the side of the box for a recent build date though, 11/2017 for mine, because they did have rattle issues early on 2017. Otherwise, be sure to get a protection plan, it surely was worth it for my Sony, as I got back full purchase price and full plan monies. I even ended up with $140 left after finding the Lg on sale. Felt like a fat rat in a cheese factory. Long story short, I'm very happy so far...

Easy set up and compatibility with LG Oled 65". However, when finally purchasing an Ultra HD 4K DVD, it made a very loud distracting whirling noise when loading the disc which continued throughout the viewing of the video. The same was not true with the other blu-ray discs I had watched prior to attempting to view an Ultra HD video. Very frustrating, then after reading reviews and seeing similar complaints, I returned the UP970 to Best Buy and had them load the Ultra DVD on a different (new) UP970, it loaded and played the DVD with no problems. They replaced my UP970 with the new one and it appears to be now working as expected. Other than having to take the time to undo all of the connections, return the item, and then reset it all over again, I'm pleased with the UP970.

Load times are very quick with this unit. 4k and HDR are great as to be expected. I have had no problems with the audio quality. This unit has a second dedicated HDMI port to connect it directly to a receiver as well as an optical output. Set up was fast, easy and quick. However only 2 online services were available.

So I purchased just for dolby vision. With the update I did, D. Vision passed. Remote is better than the first samsung uhdbr player. You can fast forward and rewind so much easier. Honestly bought this just for D. Vision, anf thats what it does. Perfect. Feb. Production date. Not loud like other people say.

Handles both Dolby Vision and HDR which is necessary if you have qualified 4k TVs that handle those formats there are definitely better alternatives but this is the best cheapest one

This Player will give you a Cinematic Feel to any Movie you watch whether it's Native 4K HDR or 4K Upscaled. :)

This player from LG has the latest features and worked great upscaling DVDs and 1080 Blu-rays to near 4K quality. Hard to beat this player feature to feature with other players for this price.

Not a ton of features but price was right with open box and I got a further discount as I purchased an LG OLED TV as well. No noise issues as seen in previous reviews. So far happy with purchase.

The movies played in 4K look fantastic. A 3D movie looks better than ever. I'm not concerned about Dolby Vision. The quality of the movie is fantastic without it. Who needs Apps., I use my LG 4K tv, its loaded with all the Apps that I need. Thanks LG, another great quality product.

I bought this to pair with my LG OLED 4k television. I tried the Samsung player and it died on me so I went with this one. It is loud when playing certain discs. It's not jet engine loud like other people has stated, but it is definitely noticeable. It Is not loud with every disc though. As far as image quality goes, I think it's great, but I didn't do a side by side comparison with other players. As others have stated, the player does seem to be made with inexpensive materials and is light. I give it 3 starts due to being an average 4k player.

happy with the purchase, on sale, gets the job done. kinda hard to go wrong with a DVD player. 4k picture, wifi, streaming, regular DVD, blu-ray. everything you need.

Absolutely amazing abilities as well as picture product. Can't beat something like this, completely amazing options. It's basically the best Mini cpu/dvd player I have seen around. A bit on the expensive side
