After reviewing 4K players, this one had the most bang for the buck. It also in one of the few able to do Dolby Vision. If you have one of the high end LG 4k TV's then you want this player to take advantage of the TV's features. Price and features are very good.

Not a bad unit and I got it on a great sale. Made sure that I got a later build and no issues, so far, with noise. Does a decent job with UHD discs. Bought it to go with a Dolby Vision TV and I'm hoping that since they still are advertising is as 'coming soon' that it will, eventually, have the Dolby Vision FW re-released. I could have been a 5 star unit for the price....until the DV release? 4 stars only.

Picked up this player to go along with a LG OLED 65" TV. Whoa 4K movies are insane on this player. Dolby Vision is a added bonus to bring out even more detail in the 4K viewing experience. This player is a great addition to anyone who has a new 4K TV!!

I bought both this and the Sony UBP-X800 to try them side by side on my 2017 LG OLED. I felt like the sound was a little better on the Sony, and the Sony construction made me believe it might be a better quality overall. However, the picture was slightly better on the LG, and whole the apps are terrible, I’m not sure why those are ever needed with so many smart TVs now. I have not had a chance to verify whether Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos are working, but the Sony definitely did not have both. I’m the end I stuck with LG and decided I need to get a sound bar to get the audio I want.

fits right in with my LG Oled and Dolby atoms sound bar. plays all dvds and in sync with all the LG equipment the picture looks great!!! it is a little larger than old school blue ray dvd player but is still nice enough you don't need to hide it.

We're all waiting for the Dolby vision update at this point. We're told it it will come via firmware update. People have complained about loud playback but I've had no problems. Picture looks phenomenal and have had no problems with it.

This is my first blu-ray player and I can’t be more pleased. It is easy to use, terrific picture quality (it helps to have an OLED TV) and plays both blu-ray disks as well as the older non blu-ray disks. Great addition to my home.

Our new LG - UP970 - 4K HDR Ultra HD 3D Wi-Fi Built-In Blu-Ray Player replaced our Denon HD Blu-Ray player. We were moving up to an LG 4K HDR television and required the upgrade. Best Buy offered a discount on LG's top of the line player with the purchase of our new LG television so we jumped on it. Excellent. No regrets! A 4K source fed into a 4K television is beyond belief. The UP970 worked perfectly. I originally intended to read all the instructions and do the little this or that's, but, because my wife and I were dying to see a 4K source on our new 4K TV, we said "darn the torpedoes". Full speed ahead! I tossed the disc into the drawer, closed it, started it and found my wife and I immersed in one of the best visual experiences of our live's.

    Nice Player pros/cons

I'll start with Pros.... The player plays well for the most part. So far it's been quiet and not noisy as others have stated. It loads movies pretty quickly when inserting disc. Overall it's a nice Player for the price. Cons... Quality is great but I have noticed sometimes on a scene that pans sideways that it causes incorrect display and it's noticeable... The image messes up a bit where there is fast movement. You can't disable CEC on this player.... Which causes issues when plugged into a reciever and I chose to watch Apple TV or play Xbox, the player will power on causing it to over ride my other activity. It's been a pain and still working to solve this issue. Possibly with a CEC less adapter which I had to order and currently waiting for it. Dolby Vision was removed from update and supposed to come later again on new update. For the price it's alright but could be better. There a couple other players in same price range that may be better such as Sony and Samsung, but I have no experience with them. There is a very expensive player I believe called oppo but it's 4 times the price and out of my budget but has great reviews. For the price I would recommend it. I would give it a 4th star if I could disable CEC so it wouldn't power on every single time I try to watch something else. Also along with that bring back Dolby Vision update. With those 2 I would add a star. The pixelating issue when panning sideways in a scene would have increased it another star. That issue is obvious in multiple movies I've tested. I tried different settings but no luck. Definitely room for improvement.

    Exceptional 4K DV 3D Player

Extremely Happy with this player. Exceptional HDR, 1080p, 3D playback. Very high Def, Detailed, Gorgeous Disc Video playback onto my LG E6 OLED. Easy 5 stars in this respect. Can't wait to see DV Firmware update, addition of VUDU App which hopefully will process DV, Atmos while streaming UHD. My unit stamped with March 2017 on the box plays extremely quiet. Even Passengers, Shallows Sony 4K. At a couple feet away all I hear is a very silent disc player. I brought the 4 year Geek Plan just in case. I mean this is new tevhnology. Guess that means at like $10 a year... I can get a replacement if my player acts bad. Heck. If it happens I might even receive a newer model from the Best Buy Geek. I would bet my UP970 has better picture quality than the OPPO 203

Although this player is equipped with Dolby Vision & HDR10 out of the box, there are some major draw backs. Not everyone uses their TV for streaming. I was finally stepping up to a 4k player, and leaving my BDT500 behind. The LG player, ONLY streams 2 services, Netflix and YouTube. I never even got past that fact, it will be returned for a different player, and because I didn't test playback, it still has 3 stars.

I purchased this 4K player after having the Samsung player for a few months. This unit performs just as well and I am excited their will be a firmware update for Dolby Vision, which will pair well with my OLED 4K tv.

The picture is great, and it's fast and quiet as long as the manufactured date is after July 2017 when the insulation was added. 4 stars because it was supposed to have a Dolby Vision update back in August, but it came and went. It advertises Dolby Vision, but does not have it.

Easy Setup, runs flawlessly puts out a GREAT Picture! Like I said, we. have over 150 3D BluRay Discs, so we HAD to get a Player that would. play them, AND have 4K and HDR compatibly for the future.

Not a fan of the look of this player. Looks and feels cheap. Video quality is good. Settings are extremely lacking when compared to other brands such as Sony and Samsung. If it wasn't for them promising Dolby vision update, I would've chosen the Sony uhd player.
