    Preorder short changed...

Cons: Would have been 5 stars if netflix, youtube and HDR WORKED.. Says it needs software update, yet "no updates found". bs.. No HDR for 4k discs.. As a result, 1080p movies are MUCH brighter than 4k movies! Its that obvious. Also, it rumbles/rattles loudly for a few secs after inserting a 4k disc. So much for pre-ordering this.. LG dont release a product if it requires unattainable updates needed to function properly. Its going back after a week if no fix itself Pros: Remote is light and user friendly buttons, and better than philips and samsung 4k player remotes. Disc tray is also quieter. This has Hi-Res audio, as stated on unit itself, yet its not advertised on BB, suspicious..

The vibration noise while playing several different 4k discs is unacceptable. I bought one, exchanged it for another - no luck. Comments on the AVS forum confirm this problem, with people exchanging this player multiple times, even sending to LG for repair. Some people have had "good" units which eventually begin to exhibit the vibration noise. My recommendation: buy the Philips 7502 or 7302 (Sam's Club). It is an excellent player that is supposed to receive the Dolby Vision firmware update by year end similar to the 970.

    Very Disappointed. Buggy and Unfinished

After a horrible experience with the Sony UBP X800 I had high hopes for the LG Player. Especially since I have an LG Oled B6. I thought it'd be a perfect match, however I was wrong. The unit was buggy/broken out of the box. It sounded like a jet engine when launching discs and would be loud for about 3 - 5 minutes before becoming whisper quiet. The menu was shockingly slow - considering there's literally nothing to do with it and the unit froze a few times. The Wifi didn't even work! I had to connect using my Ethernet cable to download the day one patch which fixed nothing and can I say how much I LOATHE day one patches? It tells the customer you KNEW you were shipping and selling customers broken products and software. Also unforgivable is how unfinished this player is. Streaming capabilities is touted as a feature yet it literally only had TWO - YouTube (which didn't even support 4K) and Netflix which only said "coming soon." WTH? The menu is beyond barebones, there are only 4 or 5 big icons that have little to no functionality. I'm sure these issues will be fixed with future firmware updates but why should a PAYING customer be at the mercy of developers and have to wait for who knows how long before getting a useable product? I'm really tired of this trend of company's knowingly releasing products before they are ready and expecting customers to patiently wait for firmware updates. I remember a time when companies would delay a release until something was done. Firmware/software updates should be used to ENHANCE products, not fix stuff that should work effortlessly on day one.

Seriously no ability to download any other streaming programs besides Netflix and Youtube. No Amazon, Hulu, Vudu etc. Crazy not to have more online features for the price you pay.

    DONT BUY THIS PLAYER!

I got this for Christmas. I wanted this for Dolby vision. It doesn’t have it and no one can tell me when it will get the update. The player was so loud I wasn’t able to watch a movie. LG took it back to get it fixed. I received it back today and it says the issue it had was ejecting the disc tray. (Not the issue) I plugged it in and now it will not play a disc, it keeps the tray out. I called in and they want it back again and will not send me a new player. Horrible customer service from LG.

    Needs more firmware updates.

I bought this the first day it was released. It's super light and cheap feeling. On par with the Philips player. Right out of the box first movie I saw had banding/ posterization. This is unacceptable from lg. How can they make the best 4k sets but bring this out to pair with it. Please fix this with better firmware. I should have watched this review first https://youtu.be/TF9-6R2Po9g

So many bugs I don't know where to start

This product needs a lot more work. First off, it looks cheap. Just one red or green light and cheap plastic buttons. The unit keeps re-setting or freezing and when it does the only recourse is to unplug it. It barely plays 4K video. It will que the 4K video up and then shut off. So you have to re-start the video two to three times before it will finally play. Sometimes it freezes up the LG OLED TV too so both need to be unplugged and re-set. Sometimes the unit vibrates and emits a loud buzzing noise. Sometimes if you hit backup on a DVD it will freeze, necessitating an unplug. Sometimes it completely quits while watching a movie and you have to start all over again. Blue ray seems to be the only type of disc I've had no problem with. The product is obviously a beta and it should not have been released to the public.

    Loud disc drive!

Very loud drive noise on certain discs, well-known issue on the forums. Not all will hear it since some discs play fine, but certain ones (Despicable Me 2) are unwatchable with the player in the same room.

4K Disc Playback - LOUD LOUD LOUD

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Bought April 13 2017. This unit vibrates when playing 4K discs. It vibrates so hard when playing Planet Earth II 4K that the noise generated sounds like an electric razor buzzing. The 4K movies La La Land and Suicide Squad vibrate, but don't buzz so loud. Standard Bluray discs and DVDs are not a problem. I've noticed lip sync is slightly off when using DTS audio on DVDs. Major disappointment because I wanted Dolby Vision that would fit together with my LG OLED capable TV. This is going back and I'll settle for the Sony without Dolby Vision.

Basic 4k player. Has trouble playing true hd audio. Video cuts in and out when using with receiver. Wifi is spotty. Hopefully future updates or models will fix these issues.

    don't buy!

I've had problems with this product since I bought it. You cannot rewind regular dvd's without the unit freezing up. Then you have to unplug it and start over. Sometimes the 4K player works, other times it does not. Some times it will not connect to the TV and it's as if you don't even have a player connected. If you want nothing but trouble. buy an LG.

    Unit is so loud!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

When you put a disc in, it is louder than the movie. Super annoying. Then LG wouldn't replace it, made me mail it in with a 2-4 week turnaround time. And I have to pay to package it to be returned for repairs. Bad product, bad service.
