    Good for texting

I love this phone. so far no problems. I don't like touch screen but this isn't to bad. It has no extra stuff on it. No games nothing. Which is fine. If you need a good phone for just day to day texting this is it. I don't really talk on the phone anymore but it seems to be ok. If you want something that can do everything this is not the phone for you but if you want a phone that will work just for texting or calling this is a good phone. I don't have data pkg on it so idk how the internet works.

This was a great first phone for my 10 year old son. It has the features he wanted, slide out keyboard and fun red color. The only down side is that you cannot lock the screen, so if he looses it anyone case use it.

    Disappointing...

Considering how Verizon and AT&T are pushing users towards smartphones that require pricey data plans on top of the voice plan, the selection of basic phones is quite paltry. The C395 Xpression has some decent feedback from users on cellular sites, but my experience was a bit disappointing. My main complaint is a fairly significant problem for me, where the screen goes dark and locks after 2-3 seconds during a call. This requires double-tapping the top button to unlock the screen, but then it locks again after another 2-3 seconds. This is a huge inconvenience when accessing voicemail or you're in a call that requires you entering numbers from the dialpad. Yes, there's an Auto-Lock setting, but turning that off has no effect on the screen locking during a call. There are two games included that run in demo mode, practically worthless. The web brower and other apps are borderline useless as well. If you have this phone get Opera Mini to make the web use bearable. The keyboard is decent for a slider, better than the Samsung. But I think this phone is short on settings in the options. My Chocolate Touch from three years is similar, but a better device than this one. The skeptic in me says the major carriers don't want you using these basic phones anymore anyway, so don't expect much.

I recently added a few additional lines to my account for my daughters and found this phone very easy! This is a great phone that does not require a data plan. They can use better than can.

Great phone for not being a Smartphone

Very nice phone for being in a contract with AT&T and it was free. I don't like to have a data plan and this is the closest phone I found to being a smartphone without requiring the data plan.

    Meh

Mine broke in about the first 2-3 months. The keyboard was putting in way too many of the same letter or putting in a letter across the keyboard curses the one I selected. The camera is pretty low quality, but that to be expected with only 2 mb. Lastly, if you wish to have a phone to connect with wifi so it doesn't use up all your data, get the expression 2. I have had mine for three years, and if think I'm getting a new phone in a while due to my issues. It may have just been that I got a phone with problems in it, but the phone doesn't do much.

    good deal for my child

We bought this phone for my child who is a first time cell phone user. He was able to pick up the functions easily and loves his phone. We have unlimited texting with our plan and he is not the best speller so this is getting him to spell without him even knowing that he is actually working on it. He has not had the phone too long so we are hoping it will endure.

We have a busy family of five and cannot afford the smartphones. We would have rather had non-smartphones phones that were a better quality. The selection of phones with ATT for non-smartphones was very limited. Sadly, in these economic times mobile phone providers are not reaching out to those of us who are unable to upgrade yet.

Great phone w/o data plan required!

Excellent service from Best Buy! I wanted a cell phone with a larger, touchscreen and the ability to text when necessary without being locked into a monthly data plan. The LG Xpression has great speakers, the slide out keyboard is easy to use and being able to select a font size (small, medium or large) makes it easier to read as well as having a larger screen. Very satisfied with Best Buy's customer service as I could not put two phones into my cart online and had to speak with a CSR. She was quite helpful and processed my order quickly and hassle free. Thanks!

    Great Basic Phone

I am opposed to being forced into a smart phone that requires an additional $25/month to have access for the data plan to support the phone. All I wanted was a good quality phone for making business phone calls AND had the ability to easily send and receive text messages. This phone achieves all three objectives -- 1. No data plan required, 2. Excellent quality phone communication, 3. Simple texting features.

    Don't Bother

I chose this phone because AT&T doesn't have too many choices of phones for users who do not want to pay extra for a smart phone data package. Well Don't Bother getting this phone I get poor reception, and my calls get dropped just about every time I use the phone. Forget about trying to retrevie your voice mail messages It is like waiting for your computer to connect using a dial up connection, you just wait and wait until it connects you to your voicemail. The same goes for dialing a call I will dial a number and I am waiting for it to connect and I look at the phone screen and it is back to the home screen instead of making my call. I will have to dial a phone number 5-6 times before the call goes through. I hope I will never need to use this phone in an emergency because it never works. I thought my Sony Ericson phone got bad reception, this one is worse, at least my Sony Ericson didn't drop your calls every time you used it. The only thing I like about it is the slide out key board it makes it easy for the occasional text I may send. My recommendation is to try one of the other phones offered, even though AT&T only offer a couple of chocies.

    Good non-smart phone

Overall the phone has worked good, text and calling is easy, the only thing i really don't like is you can't upload pic from phone to facebook. It gives you an email that you have to use and then I guess you somehow have to retrieve it on an actual computer to upload pics. Other than that it works great, but that was a big bummer to me, because I love sharing pics of my daughter on facebook, now its too complicated

    Not really for me

so many things are wrong with this phone. the screen locks when you are in a call and it is difficult to hang up. for the same reason, it is difficult to answer a call. using the dial pad is difficult for the same reason. photos don't rotate, so if you upload them to facebook and didn't have the camera facing just right, you are sending photos upside down or sideways. it is slippery and hard to slide open. sending text messages and photos are not easy to do--way too many steps and the screen locks up. if you disable the screen lock, then you end up butt dialing everyone on the planet, not good.

Traded up on a contract renewal from a Samsung. Much to my suprise, this is basically the same phone. The OS is almost identical and the buttons are almost identical. For a brand new phone, there is nothing better about this phone than my previous 2 year old Samsung. All I do is make phone calls and text, and unfortunately this is as good as it gets without a data plan.

    Typical LG phone

Bought this phone for my daughter for her first phone. After a week and lots of problems we will be exchanging it for another! It won't pull up the contact list when you hit contacts, she uses it primarily for texting and it's constantly saying she has 8 texts when she has none. It rings all the time with new texts and there aren't ANY!! We cannot send or recieve picture messages even though I have verified with ATT that we should be able to. When you dial the phone it takes atleast 15-20 seconds for the line to connect and start ringing. When you miss a call it only shows the number not the name of the person even though they are in the contacts. AND the grand finale...the worst thing about this phone is an LG feature....it locks all the time. When you make a call it locks, when you try to turn it off it won't unless you unlock it first, it locks when you are texting. It's a HUGE PAIN!!! I had an LG VU that did that too and we got rid of it for that reason!! This phone is a DISAPPOINTMENT!

    basic phone

There are very few basic phone options. This phone is heavy, clunky, and does not have great battery life, but it sounds good and works OK. The main issue is the screen locking up constantly. You have to swipe the screen before dialing numbers, and selecting options which is annoying.
