If you are Yakuza series fan then you shouldn’t miss this title. While the game is a remake of original PS2 game, the visual has been revamped with new engine with new combat system. The story is very engaging and you will see many characters from past titles making appearances. While the games does has its flaws and certainly feel dated in some way but if you are a fan of series then you should know what to expect.

    A Stunningly Immersive Experience

As a 35-year-old woman who enjoys video games, I recently played Like a Dragon: Ishin! And I must say, it did not disappoint. The game takes place in an alternate version of Japan during the late Edo period. It follows the story of a former samurai named Sakamoto Ryoma. One thing that immediately caught my attention were the stunning graphics. The game's visuals are incredibly detailed and immersive, making it feel like I was really exploring the streets of old Japan. The attention to detail in the characters' clothing and the buildings architecture was particularly impressive. But it wasn't just the graphics that impressed me. The gameplay was engaging and challenging, with a variety of combat styles to choose from. I found myself getting lost in Ishin and spending hours completing side quests and exploring the different areas of the city. One of the things I appreciated most about the game was the story. It was well-written and kept me invested in the characters and their struggles. There were emotional and hilarious moments, making for a well-rounded and enjoyable experience. Overall, I highly recommend Like a Dragon: Ishin! To anyone who enjoys action-adventure games with an engaging story and immersive gameplay. I will definitely be replaying this game in the future as a great addition to the Yakuza series. It's a great addition to the franchise and a unique opportunity to see our favorite characters in a new light.

    KIRYU-CHAN!

If you love the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series, Ishin! is a must-play. It takes the familiar drama and humor of the franchise and sets it in 1860s Japan—a refreshing twist. The story is deep, full of intrigue, and the historical setting is beautifully detailed. Combat is fun and varied, with swordplay, gunplay, and wild heat actions that feel amazing. There’s also a ton of side content—mini-games, sub-stories, and customization—that will keep you hooked for hours. It can feel a little dated in some mechanics since it’s a remake, but overall, this is one of the most unique entries in the series and an absolute treat for fans. Highly recommended if you enjoy action RPGs with strong storytelling and plenty of personality!

One of the Best Samurai Games

Back in the PS2 days, I really liked the Way of the Samurai series. Those games didn’t have great graphics but they were a joy to play. Fast forward to 2014 when I first played this game but it was the Japanese version on PS4 called Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin. I had dreamed for an English version to come out like other Yakuza games but that dream was not a reality until this year, 9 years after the original release in Japan. This PS5 version has revamped graphics so they look a little bit better than original release. Everything else is the same, no content is cut. I love the character Ryoma Sakamoto in Japan history, and this game lets you play as himself. The drama plotlines while loosely based on history, it is has its charms from the Like a Dragon formula. I played this game everyday and beated it in a week. The New Game+ option is awesome because I can continue playing after finishing the game. The Like a Dragon series have a lot of sidequests and minigames, ans they meant to be tackled after finishing the game. Highly recommended.

For all the OG Yakuza fans, this is what we’ve all been waiting for. After years and years of begging for a localization, we finally get it. And its every bit as fantastic as we’d hope for. The story is gripping, the gameplay is endlessly addictive, and the combat is fantastic. You’ll get lost in this rendition of Kyoto for hours upon hours. It’s one of—if not—the best samurai games ever made.

I've played the game for about 12 hours. I never played the original. This game is classic Yakuza gameplay with samurai themes and fighting styles and as a fan of Yakuza games and samurai history, it's great for me. The game is kinda empty-ish and slow for the first few chapters, and there aren't too many side quests in the classic format (most side quests are actually just raising bonds with townsfolk by giving them items), but once you get around chapter 5, the fun factor picks up. Not the best samurai or Yakuza game, but if you like Yakuza, this is definitely worth picking up!

It's yakuza, all the treacherous relationships and wacky townspeople included, but with a sword. It's hard to explain why it is such a heartwarming experience, but it is. If something has piqued your interest about this game already, you will probably enjoy it. A long story with many characters, a nice recreation of 19th century Japan, a bunch of serious and silly moments.

Inshin like a dragon draws from the strength of its predecessor, yakuza like a dragon if you have never played a yakuza game, then will like inshin even though its audio language is only Japanese and with no plans on making it an English dub game. You will have fun nonetheless. The game takes place in 1853 edo era Japan. And with over the top action you cannot go wrong. It’s worth an investment if you like these type of games.

One of the best examples of a spinoff done right in videogames! Seeing all the classic Yakuza characters involved in an Ancient Japanese setting and interacting as part of said era is such a pleasure to behold... Would recommend for any fans of japanese history and beat-em ups! The bonus steelbook is AWESOME!

John Yakuza is at it again but this time in the Samurai Age, combat is standard Yakuza brawler with 4 different styles. They are all pretty different and fun in their own right. The story is serious while the side stories are goofy. Just how I like my Yakuza games. Recommend if you want more Yakuza.

Actually had a ton of fun with this one, thought I was not going to be a fan of it. The graphics are pretty good, and the atmosphere is great. The combat NECESSITATES that you try to upgrade your fighting styles, but that's not a bad thing. Anything post-game is insanely grindy and ridiculous. Thankfully, I like to mindlessly play grindy games when I'm on my exercise bike, but for anyone who genuinely wants to 100% the game, good luck. Not necessary at all and if you do it prior to beating the game, it'll lowkey make it a bit too easy so definitely just an option for those who want to grind. Also worth noting that you should probably play this AFTER the other Yakuza games since it's pretty fanservice-heavy, and as someone who played Yakuza Like a Dragon after this one, I feel like I missed out on some of that. Even without that though, really good story on its own. VERY worth it at $30.

You know what these games are about, and it does not disappoint. While this is a remake, it feels modern despite the setting. Its very different than the last game, but still a lot of fun to be had.

Ishin is finally west side with a remake of the original. Set in the Edo period with many familiar faces cast as new characters and a new arsenal to fight with including swords, a gun and a style mixed with both, you'll take on samurai in this great new addition to the Yakuza series
