The cable modem had wireless integrated, but I found it to be very spotty and would disconnect for no reason (just the wireless). I need a router to handle up to 8 devices wirelessly at any time. Additionally for my ps4 gaming and Netflix. This router has been fantastic. I haven't had one interruption with the devices. I'm very happy with this as with the cable modems wireless, I would lose connectivity almost daily.

It has difficulty penetrating walls in my 3000 sf house and I have called service twice. Is better now, but still not great... but is better at streaming video than old router. Am still learning to fine tune it so will wait for final verdict. Meanwhile would not recommend to friend due to its higher cost.

Access the router's wireless settings by following the steps in this link: http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=143717. For the 2.4 GHz network, test channels 1, 6, and 11.
