Changing the router's wireless channel and relocating it at central place of your house is a good move to avoid possible interference in your network. Use the Wi-Fi analyzer app. It helps you to find a less crowded channel for your wireless router.

I was assured by the Best Buy employee that this router would reach much further than my old router. Well it does provide wireless service a bit further than the old one but is still spotty at times with a less than excellent strength in my signal. Too much hassle to disconnect and return but I wish I had not been assured this would work or I may have purchased a more expensive/stronger router.

Thank you for letting us know about your experience with the EA6900. To achieve a dependable wireless connection, Wi-Fi has to overcome many barriers and obstacles. As distance increases, the wireless signal strength decreases, and different types of walls and other obstructions will further impede the signal strength. Changing the router's wireless channel and relocating the router to a central place will also help to improve your network’s wireless performance.
Best channels for the 2.4 GHz network are 1, 6, and 11 since they are considered non-overlapping channels. For the 5 GHz network, channels 36, 40, 44 and 48 are recommended to less likely suffer interference.

I don't think this router was any better than any other router we've had...in fact, numerous times we have had issues with inconsistent internet speeds despite having highest level internet service. Cox out a number of times, made some adjustments; replaced modem, etc. So didn't think it was the router. We still had intermittent issues and just dealt with it. Until today. Our wireless download speeds are consistently 9 mpbs and upload at about our norm at 10 mbps. Testing reveals issue is at the router; modem working fine. So...less than 3 years service out of this one. I guess that's not horrible, but since this was purchased in 2015, and not 2016 we don't get the upgraded 3 year warranty (If I read that correctly). So thats my review. Good but not great - just average
