However, additional help is needed to keep the laptop from jumping from the original network to the new one; and the printer does not want to be connected.

Wireless interference, physical obstruction, distance, and wireless settings, these are some of the reasons for a weak/slow wireless connection. You may want to relocate the router and minimize physical obstruction. Adjusting the router's wireless channel will also help improve the connection. For the 2.4 GHz, use channel 1, 6, or 11.

While both worked, the first one died in 6 months...just stopped Working for no apparent reason. Technical support through Cisco cost a fort une only to tell me I needed a new router!
