So far so good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this router a few days ago and did not know much about setting up a router/network. I did do some research on setting a wireless router for a Desktop with no wireless card. Once I found that, all was easy. I had my last Linksys router for four years. When it started dropping, I decided to get another Linksys. I have read some bad reviews on this product on other websites, but so far so good. It is fast and what I am looking for. I was looking for something to hook up easily as well as handle the small things I am doing such as computer, laptop, cell phone and tablet. I live in a medium size rancher and the router is centrally located and there are no issues. Using the "ears" and moving them around, I was able to get my computer to be super fast.

Tech support is terrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My printers kept dropping off line. The router would see them but the computers 1 MAC and 1 Windows would not. I had a linksys router prior and was just upgrading. The first time I called linksys they wanted to charge me. I thought that was strange so I tried to call back again. The second tech said it must be a printer problem and I needed to call the printer companies, plural as they were 2 different printers that did not work. Okay so I hang up and I am thinking if both printers are from different companies and both are not working it is not a printer problem. I started playing with the settings on the router, both printers are now working fine. So first they try to charge me, then they tell me that is a printer problem when all the time it was settings on the router. YEA GREAT TECH SUPPORT. LAST LINKSYS I BUY

Not Good for Multiple Gaming Consoles
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We are a LARGE GAMING FAMILY. We have 3 Xbox consoles with Xbox live gaming, 3 iPads, 2 iPods, 3 iPhones,1 laptop, 1 desktop, TV's, satellite TV receivers etc.. all which are wireless. Welcome to the modern world everything is WIFI now! We purchased this router because we read that is was one of the newest and best for gaming, had good signal strength, good for multiple devices and good for a large home. We did not mind spending the money for this router as long as it worked for our devices. This router has been dropping signal since day one. We have to constantly reset and even factory reset to get all of our devices Wi-Fi access. Maybe could not handle the amount of devices we have??!! Turns out that only 1 Xbox 360 can have an open NAT on this router. The other 2 Xboxes have moderate NAT errors. Talked with Linksys customer support and updated everything. Talked to Xbox support. Tried everything possible to open all ports nothing worked. The dual band was a nice thing to have, however, the only devices that could access the 5GHz band was the Apple devices which was good. Going to return it today for a different router that can handle our family!

Always needs to be re-booted
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I Got this router because I have always has Linksys and wanted to have certain level of convenience when upgrading. Weeks later I totally regret purchasing this router. After reading several reviews about the wireless slowing down and requiring a re-boot to correct the situation. We have a home of many gadgets and I purchased this model for both the range and the number of items that my family needs to connect to it. With the needs to connect up to 25 devices (PC. Videogames, tablets, phones) not necessarily at the same time. I find that I need to rest the router every few days to correct connection issues. I have experienced slowing wireless connections and in some cases no wireless connection on some devices while others connect fine. I would not recommend this to anyone at all that has a technology driven family requiring many connections. For this price it should just WORK!

Bad Support based on flawed policy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The router actually worked but I was unable to get into the config tool. Chatting with a support person, I was told that the 90 days free support period had expired 2 weeks before I purchased it. I returned the router, purchase a competitors product for the same price, and ended up with the best router ever, thanks to Linksys' bad support.

Keeps losing internet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit keeps dropping my internet connection to laptop and tv. Works ok for phones and tablets but not anything else. Called Lynksys about it and all I got was a run around. Laptop works fine anywhere else with wifi but not when I am on this unit. Very disappointed for the amount of money this unit costs.

Linksys - SMART Wi-Fi Dual-Band Wireless-AC Router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to like this router (especially for the price) but in all honesty, there are several problems I experienced: 1 - The antenna's are a bit unstable. I've tightened them, adjusted them, etc and yet they fall over over time. 2 - After much extensive testing and isolating, I've discovered the 2.4G band drops packets (basic extended ping test (ping 8.8.4.4 -t) ) but the 5G worked fine, but of course at a reduced range. I am taking this back as I need the range and dual bands that I paid for. Perhaps I got a faulty one? Either way, I would not recommend (which sucks as I have been loyal to Linksys/Cisco for a long time).

Reset every other day
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this router last fall due to it being recommended by an employee at the store. It worked fine for a couple of months. Now every 2-3 days I have to reset the router in order for it to work. Big hassle.

PC and Macs Keep Getting Dropped From WiFi
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to reboot the router at least twice a day. The 5Ghz almost immediately locks the browser up. The 2,5 Ghz every once a while asks again for the password. Called LinkSys and they had me go through and upgrade the firmware. Lynksys explanation is that our laptops are too old. Problem is my wife has a brand new work PC laptop and exhibits the same issue. So with 2 PC laptops and a Mac laptop in the household, I find it hard to believe if it is the laptops software, all three would have the same issue. Can't believe I paid $200 for this router.
