      Hi, Byron,

Your feedback is of great value, and we're glad that you brought this to our attention. Your Wi-Fi security really matters a lot to us. Allow us to get this taken care of. As you know the "admin" password is the router's default password to log in to the setup page and it's not the security key or password for your Wireless network. To ensure that your network is absolutely secure, we need to access the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi page to check the wireless settings. Please launch your internet browser using your main PC, and type in on the address bar 192.168.1.1 and key in "admin" to log in. Just click on the "Wireless" tool to secure or personalize your 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless networks. Should you need further assistance, reach out to us at [email protected] along with your contact details and the link to this review for reference. We would be more than willing to help you out.

ALWAYS NEEDS TO BE REBOOTED NOT GOOD ONLINE GAMING

Well the reason why I bought this router was because it's a PC mag editors choice and one of the fastest routers for your home. Unfortunently when I brought it home it's been nothing but trouble and definently gives the same or worse performance as cheaper routers. The 5ghz option does not work on any wireless device if it does it's very very slow like dial up slow slower than the 2.4 ghz option I tried the 5ghz in my iPhone 5s and xbox one ..it doesn't work. The router always shuts down and I have to reboot it 3 times a week. I have an xbox one that runs slow online all the time or drops from the server because the router gives it a slow download speed and a very high latency. I only have 5-6 devices at home and they are not all on at the same time. The only good part about the router is that it has excellent range and when it does work it works for smartphones laptops and xbox 360 not xbox one tho. Consider looking at the low rated reviews before buying this. Since the highs are the only ones on top and are probably fake. Ps. I'm a honest nerd/geek

    Nice features; Good Performance; Unreliable!

I bought this to replace my old, reliable Linksys Router, hoping to get better WiFi performance out of it. It was easy to set up. I like that you get 2 USB ports (a 2.0 and a 3.0) for printers or hard drives. I set up a hard drive for music and video service to my home network. The service is not always available. Sometimes, only part of it is there. That's annoying. But the really big problem has been the lack of reliability for WiFi! I find myself having to regularly do a physical power-cycle of the router to reboot and get my wireless back. Sometimes, even the wired devices stop working. I bought this after returning the $200 Netgear piece of junk. This is better, but not reliable. Who makes a good, router nowadays that does everything it promises?? Very poor signal strength. Signal is unstable. Tried changing channels and moving away from other devices that would hurt signal strength. When you do have full signal strength speed is great! It appears this item is on clearance for a reason. I will be returning and going with netgear.

Hi. Thank you for sharing this feedback with us. This intermittent signal is probably just a little hitch with the current firmware installed on the router. What we can do is update/reflash the firmware, then reset and reconfigure the router again. Here's the link on how: (http://www.linksys.com/ph/support-article?articleNum=140365). Should the problem persist, let us know by sending us an email at [email protected] and we'll look into this further. Please include your contact details and the link to this review in the email. We purchased this as an upgrade from our old router. It was recommended to us by BestBuy. We purchased it, came home hooked it up and it worked well the first and second night. Since then it is honestly no better than our old NetGear router. Very unhappy with this purchase for the price I paid.

    Speedy wired connections

Gigabit wired ports work very well. Wireless can often be spotty and require a reboot. 5 GHz band only works in the same room. The Linksys app is not well organized and lacks many useful settings. I have not used the print server or external storage options.

    Bummer

Up front, I like link sys products, but this one doesn't work out of the box. The instructions included don't give you the beginner basics of how to set up a router. The on-line download user guide for the EA6900 is good, but it doesn't come in the box. The real problem ... the one I bought was defective, I've set-up dozens of routers and switches, but was unable to access the router's configuration. Set up was laptop to router ethernet port and then again with wireless, tried 192.168.1.1; myrouter.local and linksyssmartwifi.com ... no luck with internet turned on or off. I might try another one, and definitely like the listed capabilities, but wish I had that hour and half back.

Wifi stops working a few times a month.

I've had this router for 5 months and I'm giving up on it. The Wifi stops working a few times a month. I have to turn off and on the 2.5ghz and 5ghz wifi networks from a wired computer or if I can't access the router from a wired machine, reboot the router. I updated the firmware and my router is plugged into a battery backup. No reason for an expensive router to fail on such a basic feature. I could care less about using an app on my phone to control the router as long as the router worked.

    Not a good buy

I bought this to replace my Linksys 6500. The 6500 started dropping connections and refused to reconnect. The EA69000 would not even reach to the floor right above it. You had to be right next to it to try to connect. It is going back on Monday. So I have 2 routers that don't work correctly. I am going to try an ASUS

5GHz wireless band was just not even there and never even appeared. This was the worst router I've ever had. I returned it the same day for the Netgear Nighthawk R7000 and having no issues. I even tried online chat support with Linksys for them to tell me that I was out of my 90 day free support window, even though I was trying to set it up the same day I had bought it. I doubt I will ever buy another Linksys router again.

      Hi RookiePhotog,

We are sorry to hear about your frustration with the router and the Support team. We would like to review your case and do the proper actions. Email us your case number from Support along with your contact details, reviewer name, and the link to this review. You can reach us at [email protected]. In the meantime, if you still have the router with you, we recommend that you adjust the router's 5 GHz wireless channel. Use 161 or 159 and make sure that your wireless clients support 5 GHz for them to be able to detect the 5 GHz signal of the router. DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT. I have gotten a 2nd router from Linksys and is doing the same thing my old router was doing. Which is after 24 to 48 hours of resetting the router the Wi-Fi keeps turning off. Even after unpluging it. The issue still remains.

Wireless routers are usually very easy to set up. Not this one. I spent 3 hours trying to complete the initial set up, but it still doesn't work. I tried to call Linksys technical support, but the wait time was over 30 minutes. I am returning this item to the store.

      Hi IACCOE,

We regret to know about your experience with setting up the Linksys router. The EA6900 router uses the Smart Setup that should help making the initial setup a breeze. There are network setups that require manual configuration due to added device features that is not found on standard network setups. One example is that your ISP requires special settings for the router to work with their modems or if the ISP modem is a modem-router combo which can conflict with the DHCP settings of the Linksys router. Allow us to assist you with the challenges you have with the router. We'll be more willing to help you out with the manual configuration and have your network go online. Send us an email at LinksysCares@linksys.com together with the link back to this review. We look forward to hearing from you.
