Overall I very much like this router. The dual channel really helps combat wireless interference. The signal strength is very good and I have not had to login to the admin portal to tweak anything since I set it up. My only complaint was the setup wizard froze when looking for firmware upgrades, forcing me to factory reset the device in order to continue. Otherwise the setup and configuration went smoothly.

Let me first start by saying that I received this router from Linksys for my review. With that being said up front, I can honestly say that I would have purchased this router if I had not recieved it for free. I already was looking at the new WRT1900AC when i received this one. When I opened up the WRT1200AC and laid my eyes on it and the Blue hit me, I was almost in tears and was barely able to contain my excitement. Maybe its just me or a Geek thing but the look of my devices is as important as their abilities. Also it looked very similar to the original beast the WRT54G. I can't stress enough how happy I was to see that they brought back the original WRT style Blue and this time it was Open Source Ready out of the box. Open Source means basically that the router can be used with Firmware (software) written and developed by really anyone or any group. I have always been a fan of DD-WRT which I used daily on my older WRT54G. It has the ability to turn your basic router into one with features well beyond this price range. If you are unfamiliar with Open Source I invite you to do some research on the subject. I wish everything was Opened! Before I received the WRT1200AC I was using the Linksys EA6500 and I can say that it is a decent router, however I always felt like it didn't have enough processing power as it would overheat and either hang or just restart. Not to mention it didn't have any visible antennas which just made me feel as if it just didn't have the range needed. I personally have multiple Wi-Fi devices and a few wired devices plus two techie kids with all the latest gadgets, consoles and laptops that all need routing. Plus just about everything nowadays has wif built in. The EA6500 even though it was a dual band and also has the wireless-n standard it just could not keep up with my demands. I had resorted to using two of my older WRT54G's with DD-WRT installed in addition to the EA6500 and was barley getting the job done with all the different devices and traffic we have. I am super pleased and happy to say that with this new WRT1200AC router I haven't had one issue with it overheating or crashing due to throughput. The 1.3 Ghz dual core Processor and 256MB of DDR3 RAM get the job done with ease. I purposely waited to write my review as to collect more real world data. I wanted to push this router to it's max and give it every opportunity to fail. The speed and range of this WRT1200AC is very good and I must say I like the design of the WRT routers much much more. I am a die-hard Linksys fan and user. I have tried other routers in the past and none seemed to satisfy my needs quite like the blue WRT routers from Linksys. With all new gadgets coming out with built in internet access a router with a faster CPU and onboard memory is a must. My refrigerator even has wifi! So far I currently have roughly 25 Wi-Fi connections and 4 wired ethernet connections and as long as I use the QoS feature of the router I do not notice any lag or service interruptions when my children play Netflix or online gaming like I experienced with the EA6500 and 54G's. Before to get decent service at the far end of my home or in my garage I had to use a Wi-Fi extender (Linksys AC750) but now with the WRT1200AC I do not experience any signal loss anywhere in my home. This is an absolutely amazing router. Plus it looks good too.. Thank you again Linksys. Chad

    Easy Setup and Great Performance

The first thing that I liked was how easy it was to setup the Linksys RE6700 AC1200 AMPLIFY Dual-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender. After running the configuration wizard on my web browser, connecting to my existing wireless network, I was able to setup both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. The performance is excellent. I was able to get a strong signal back in my bedroom with no lost of speed. A speed test reported 114mbps down and 12mbps up. Another plus is the integrated power outlet which allows me to use the power outlet without any interference from the extender at all. The Spot Finder was very useful in locating the right placement for the extender. I received a free sample from Linksys in exchange for my honest feedback.

I got this router less than a month ago and our entire house signal has improved dramatically. I was using another brand router that was not quite 2 years old. I always assumed we have thick plaster walls that the signal doesn't work good upstairs or down in the basement. This Linksys WRT1200AC router has no problem getting us a strong signal throughout our home. We have several items: 5 phones, 2 Ipads, android tablet and at times up to 4 computers on all at same time. No one has been complaining about slowness or the spinning circle since we hooked up this router. We have a 25mbps plan with our provider and finally seeing the expected results. Thank you Linksys for such a great product!

This router was amazingly easy to setup and install. The instructions that came with it were clear, concise, and well written. The range was the best I’ve seen in a comparably equipped configuration. With a USB 3.0 port and eSATA port, this router should be viable for many future upgrades. With this router, it is not necessary to customize any ports settings; it just works out of the box. Although there was not an option to install a custom DDNS, no other router currently on the market seems to have this feature as a standard. Even though I received this router as a free sample, to give an honest evaluation; I feel this is one of the best routers on the market for the money.

I have to say - I really didn't think a different router would make any difference at all. Our previous router was one whose name I will not mention but it starts with an "N". We live in a 40 foot RV and the router is located on an end table in the living room about maybe 10 feet from the bedroom area. The internet in the living room where the router is located worked fine. But in just that 10 feet of space between the living room and the bedroom somehow something would cause the signal to go in and out. I have a Roku on my tv and I wasn't able to watch anything on my roku frequently because of the buffering so whatever I was watching would stop and start, stop and start. The bathroom is located between the bedroom and the living room but I really couldn't see how that could make such a difference in the signal. It was such a small bit of space between the bedroom and the living room I just couldn't see out the signal could be so weak in that short of space. Anyway - we did switch to this Linksys router and from the minute it was turned on my problems were solved. No more weak signal in the bedroom - I can watch anything on my Roku without any buffering. Call me a happy camper now! I am disabled so I spend a lot of time in my bedroom lying flat to relieve the pain in my lower back and legs so being able to watch a movie or a favorite tv show is extremely helpful and takes my mind off my pain for small periods of time. I was so frustrated before because the router we were using was brand new and I could not figure out why there was such a difference in signal strength in only a 10 foot distance from the router. Was really making me consider cancelling my internet service. We have internet we can use from the park - it's just slow - but if I'm going to have to pay for it then I expect it to work in every room of my small trailer. I also have a small online business which requires that I be able to check my email frequently as well as do some web design work when I am at home. If I can't answer my emails or work on some of my design projects from home then I get behind in my work which of course is very frustrating when you have deadlines to meet. I have to be able to depend on my internet for more than just entertainment. I need it for my home business as well. I can't tell you how happy I am that it was as simple as changing to a router by Linksys. Should have gone that route in the beginning. Linksys is the company that my work location uses and we've not had a problem with those internet connections so I should have started with Linksys from the beginning. Now I have fast steady internet signals and I am super happy. Being confined to a bed for hours every day makes you appreciate the internet quite a bit but a sketchy connection is enough to make you go blind with frustration. Thanks so much Linksys! I'm a fan!!! I received a free sample from Linksys in exchange for your honest feedback.

I recieved this router about 3 weeks ago..so far signals and both bands(2.4gz & 5gz) have been very stable and strong!! easy to setup with install disk and great instructions. The shipping packaging was sturdy and well laid out. I also like the idea that open source OS's (dd-wrt, ect..) are supported on this router. Updating(flashing) this router was well documented with easy to use instructions( making a dummy like me feel like a pro! ) I am very pleased with this router I received a free sample from Linksys in exchange for my honest review

    Linksys EA9500 Max-Stream™ AC5400 Tri-Band Wi-Fi

    Posted .

Go with the Linksys EA9500 Max-Stream™ AC5400 Tri-Band Wi-Fi Router. I was provided that router by Linksys in exchange for an honest review, which you will find below, about the aforementioned router. At first I was in awe because the router is huge and weighs around 4 pounds. In fact I had to reconfigure my setup because it's probably 30% larger than previous routers I've owned, but this wasn't a big deal. 10 years from now I'll probably laugh at the thought of having a router this big because they'll probably make one twice as powerful and half the size. That said, this is the router you'll want to use for the next 10 years. Setup was simple like they all are. Using the 5Ghz WiFi, I have awesome speeds throughout my house. I pay for 150/10 and with this router I'm getting 180/12. Like: Ventilation - Top and bottom, this shouldn't get too hot Cool design - Lets be real, this commands attention All the GHz this is pumping out - Buffering is a thing of the past Suggestion: Make the antennas removable like on other models. Not sure if I would ever need to for any reason, but why not? Options are always good. Could be better: Range - With 8 antennas I'm kind of surprised the 5Ghz signal isn't stronger in the furthest room in my house. The 2.4Ghz gives me 3-4 bars, or 75-100% signal strength in that room. The 5Ghz gives me 2-3 bars, or 50-75%. That said, I still have awesome speeds in that room, just not quite as fast as elsewhere. Tip: Be sure to name the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks differently so that you can identify which you're connecting to. The 5GHz will be faster, but the signal strength may not be as good far away. I named the networks the same initially and was curious why my speed was inconsistent. I called Linksys tech support and spoke to Kim who was great. After thoroughly walking through the configuration she provided this suggestion. Apparently my phone was auto connecting to the 2.4GHz (slower speed). Now that I always connect to the 5GHz the speed is consistent throughout the house.

I got this for $99 on sale from $149, so it was well worth the money. Speeds are much higher. Very easy to set up. Took less than 5 minutes to physically connect it, and change the SSID (network name) and password so that it was encrypted. I checked all four corners of a 100x200 lot and it connected at the highest speed at all four corners. Like I said, well worth the money. Get it on sale...

The Linksys WRT AC1200 provides N400 and AC867Mbps dual-band throughput. The beam-forming technology makes the router more reliable since it gives the router, improved range, minimal interference from other devices, fast network speeds, and stable WI-Fi connection. The WRT 1200AC has the color, size and shape similar to that of WRT1900AC and the number of peripheral ports is also alike in the two routers. WRT 1200AC is equipped with two detachable antennas. With this kind of design, the device mixes well with other stack-able devices such as the WRT Switch that helps you organize your space. The peripheral ports are at the back of the router and there are white LED's that show you the status of all the ports at the front. Remote Management With the Linksys Smart WI-Fi connection, you are in a position to control your network from wherever you are. You can manage your home network remotely through the internet. To enjoy this feature you need a linksyssmartwifi.com account, and then log on the website using a computer connected to the router. The first time you do this, you are prompted to enter admin password for the router and from then on, you can manage your home or office network from anywhere in the world once you log in. Usability and Additional Features You can use your WRT1200AC immediately after you remove it from its box. The manufacturer has printed all the default settings at the base of the device. It is possible to change and customize names of the WI-Fi networks or other features of the router through the web interface since the interface is similar to previous Linksys Smart WI-Fi routers. There is an interactive map feature that allows a user to view all devices connected, and you can interact with any device by just a single click on its icon. It is also possible to carry out a quick speed test from within the interface. I received a free sample from Linksys in exchange for my honest feedback

I received the WRT1200AC as a free sample from Linksys in exchange for your honest feedback. There is a lot to like about this router. Non-techies will like the ease of which the SmartWiFi (https://linksyssmartwifi.com ) takes you through the routers setup. Techies will like that it can be flashed with open source firmware right out of the box. The 5GHz band seems to work well and gives some pretty good througputs. When using the 2.4Ghz band though, I seemed to get some less than what I should. This may be due to the number of 2.4GHZ routers in my neighborhood and fighting to find a channel not used by everyone else. The router also has some modes built in that are very handy. It can be used as a wireless bridge to another router to provide wired connections to older devices that only have wired connections. It can also be used as an access point to your network to improve wifi coverage in your home or office. (I use this mode. For some reason Linksys calls this client mode vs an Access Point). Probably the biggest selling point for this router though is its capability to be used as an OpenVPN server. Turning on the OpenVPN function, and downloading the OpenVPN profile to your IPad, Laptop, or phone, and using an OpenVPN GUi allows you to to connect securely to your home network and conduct business verse using the unsecure hotel networks. I'll be trying this function in the near future. The WRT1200AC makes this very easy, even for a non-techie. After using this router for about 2 weeks, I am very happy with it. It works great as an access point. I get reliable and speedy connections in both the 2.4Ghz (slow downs probably due to congestion) and the 5 GHZ band.It works great as a Wireless/Wired router (although I did see some slow down when I used my Comcast phone/internet box in bridge mode. Not sure if the slow down is Comcast or the WRT1200AC. I'll experiment more later). All in all I think the WRT1200AC would be a worthy purpose to anyone.

I received this free sample router from Linksys in exchange for an honest review. The bottom line, this router is great. It replaced another Linksys router that I purchased a year ago. This router was extremely easy to set up, only 5 steps, and is much faster than the old router. Only thing I would change is the length of the power cord. It was not long enough to place this router on top of shelves. It still reaches all points of my 2 story house

I must tell you that I received this router from Linksys as part of the F&F program. This router works better than any other that I have had. The range is amazing and the speeds are fast especially when you consider that in my home we have 2 Xbox ones,2 360's, 1 PS4 , 1 smart tv and Dish network hopper w/4 remote Wi-Fi boxes ,2 laptops and at least 3-4 smartphones!! Router has been very reliable and easy to troubleshoot.

I have been testing and trying different configurations of this router for nearly three weeks and couldn't be more pleased with its features and performance. Initially I changed its internal IP to avoid any conflicts with my existing network and devices just to test connectivity. No problems at all. From there the final configuration evolved into a cascade where the WRT1200AC is primary and connected to the cable modem for the WAN. That network then becomes the WAN for my old router (a Linksys E3000). This way I have two LANs, both of which can be connected to via Ethernet cable or wireless. All the devices that were connected to the old router continue to work without any configuration changes until I chose to move them to the new network. The only configuration change to the E3000 was to make its IP assigned from the 1200AC static. All other changes were made only to the 1200AC where the old router was assigned a DMZ connection and port addressing was setup for the three security cameras on the old network. Configuration changes were a breeze. The new router's software is highly intuitive and thus very easy to setup. My newer devices that support wireless AC and 5 GHz are connecting at a minimum of 433Mbps. The E3000 has a bit greater range and signal strength at similar distances, but that might be improved with adjustment of the antennas. I prefer the sleeker design of the E3000, but I am not at all disappointed with the 1200AC. I recommend it without reservation.

I received this router free from Linksys for my honest review of the product. This router is a fast and powerful router, with the 5ghz and USB 3.0 port I can stream 4k movies over the network, it's so great to be able to do that. The setup is very easy, and if you do not like the firmware you are able to flash a custom one like DD-WRT! I have to admit I am in love with this router!
