Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the AC1200 Dual-Band Wi-Fi Router's ease of use, range, performance, and signal strength, with many praising its simple setup and strong, reliable connection. However, some customers reported occasional connection problems and found the router to be somewhat large. Positive feedback also highlighted the router's good coverage, price, and dual-band capabilities. A few users mentioned experiencing lag, though this was not a widespread concern.

This has been a great and easy router to set up. I have only had this for a few days now but so far I couldn't ask for a better router. It has great signal strength and great speeds when i run a speed test. All in all, I am very happy with this router, and consider it a must-have for anyone looking for a faster, or just more stable, wifi solution

    Rock-solid

Reminds me of the old Linksys WRT series routers that people are STILL using today, even though they only support 802.11g! I'm hoping this WRT1200AC is of the same class. I don't mind spending a little more on quality hardware, and this is it. Best of all, if I grow tired of the Linksys feature set, it easily flashes over to DD-WRT.

I received a free sample from Linksys in exchange for my honest feedback. Setup was painless, adding printer, phones, computers, PlayStation, etc. was also simple. I like the website that lets you see what electronics are connected to the internet. I believe there is a app too. overall very good product. I will continue to use mine.

Received the WRT 1200AC for free from Linksys. This was an upgrade from my current Linksys router and I am extremely happy with the results it gave me. I can now use multiple computers, smartphones and TV's on Wi-Fi with no issues. I also was able to extend my wireless range in areas that I had issues with in the past.

I recently upgraded my Linksys WRT300N to AC1200 along with Linksys RE6700 AC1200 AMPLIFY Dual-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender. The result is phenomenal. I got the whole house covered from the basement to the bedrooms. No more DEAD areas!!! Strongly recommend to anyone who wants to expand Wi-Fi coverage home.

    Disappointed in performance

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this router to replace my existing router based on the other reviews. Installation and setup was easy. However quickly noticed that router performance degraded within a couple of hours and required rebooting 2 or 3 times a day. The poor internet speeds were seen on both wired and wireless devices. Will be returning this router to Best Buy.

      Hi Garyp,

We are sorry to hear about your experience with the Linksys WRT1200AC. Looks like we need to adjust some settings on the router for it to fit your network perfectly. We understand your frustration and we would like to offer some troubleshooting steps before you decide to return the router to the store. A firmware upgrade could help both the wired and wireless connections. Adjusting the wireless channel is also recommended to improve the wireless connection.

Does not work with my Cable modem- Returning

As i already own a Linksys G router that has been working well for years, and reading the reviews here, i was hopeful this would be a good upgrade for speed and some newer devices i am adding to home network. Spent 2-3 hours trying to set it up but consistently hit the error message "No Internet Address" error and the Internet indicators on the router never went solid/ were always blinking. Tried the Linksys support instructions to remedy this, as they acknowledge the router does not work out of the box with all cable modems, but no success. Their manual steps are confused by outdated screen shots not consistent with the actual product screens. The final insult is there is a Feedback dialog on their support page http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=135930#a that does not work, you cannot submit the comments. Returning the product and unlikely to use Linksys again.

    Good Reliable Wireless Router

This Linksys Wireless router works very well in an average size house and is very easy to setup and install. Follow the installation wizard provided on the supplied CD or manually set it up with a little knowledge and be up and running in less than 15 minutes. Tech support is very helpful if needed.

    Horrible setup experience

I purchased this router to replace a 10 year old Linksys that was starting to drop connections. Spent 2 1/2 hours with Linksys tech support trying to get this to work with my fiber optics Ethernet connection from my provider. They finally told me that it was defective and to return it, which I did and picked up a new one. Spent another 2 hours after that with Linksys and still was not able to set it up. I even verified the settings with my internet provider. Two defective units in a row? I'm returning it and buying from one of their competitors.

    Slower download speed

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this router in May 2016 when I moved to an area offering faster internet speed. I thought I would get great performance when streaming to my Roku. Turns out my blazing fast speed of 60Mbps (I know, I live in a tech wasteland!) is throttled down to 12 Mbps when connected to this unit. I have adjusted the media prioritization and the downstream bandwidth setting to the recommended number - for me that would be 60000 Kbps and these fixes RAISED my download speed from 2.1 Mbps. I have seen many other owners on the Linksys forum with the same problem. Some are lucky enough to fix the problem, others are not. I don't know what else I can do. I'm open to any suggestions. I'm not technically sophisticated, but I can follow directions.

    It works...?

I have received this router as a free sample from Linksys in exchange for my honest feedback. When I saw this router I wanted to put some open-source firmware on it to test out how far I could go to customize the security and performance, through trial and error; finally managed to get one on it working. I have not noticed anything special about this router in terms of standing out among the rest besides the Smart Wi-Fi (& Auto Update) feature (At this time). If you are looking for a *Smart Wi-Fi* router I would definately look into getting EA instead of WRT.

Better Routers are on the market for same price

I lost a Netgear 6250 due to a lightening storm, and tried to replace with the WRT1200AC as I thought the Netgear interface was lacking compared to the Linksys's I've owned in the past. I was able to get 100mbs plus throughout my house with the Netgear with very little configuration at all. When I plugged in the WRT1200 I immediately noticed several devices only pulling 25mbs through the house.. even in the same room as my router. I worked with Linksys support on the phone, switching setting, changing channels, etc.. and eventually gave up when the advice was keep trying every channel until one works. I took the router back to Bestbuy and replaced it with a brand new Netgear.. and configured exactly the same as the original one (which was minimal changing of anything but SSID and passwords).. and it came back up with full speed on all devices. I think the WRT 1200AC is an obsolete devices as most of Linksys support advice came down to switching channels and constant rebooting. The Netgear requires none of that with all 2.4, 5ghz, or AC vs N vs B vs G devices. Why spend 100 bucks on a WRT1200 when for the same money you can buy the Linksys.

      Hi, mhusak,

The behaviour of your router as what you've described sounds unique with the type of network setup that you have. Optimizing the wireless settings for both frequency bands would address this setback. Allow us to check what happened to your previous phone call for us to have a better understanding on this challenge.

If you have any other Linksys device that needs assistance, reach out to us at [email protected], anytime.

We'd be more than happy to help you out.
