Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the AC1200 Dual-Band Wi-Fi Router's ease of use, range, performance, and signal strength, with many praising its simple setup and strong, reliable connection. However, some customers reported occasional connection problems and found the router to be somewhat large. Positive feedback also highlighted the router's good coverage, price, and dual-band capabilities. A few users mentioned experiencing lag, though this was not a widespread concern.

      Hi, Gator,

The WRT1200AC is one of our best AC routers and it should provide maximum signal strength and better coverage on your home network. Proper product placement and adjusting the wireless channel would help resolve the issue.

We would love to know more details about your network environment as interferences in your area could also be a factor affecting the router's overall performance. Please email us your contact details at [email protected] with the link to this review so we can closely work with you in optimizing the wireless settings of your unit.

Fair at first, 6 weeks later...

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I wanted to give my family strong, dependable wifi. I admittedly knew almost nothing about routers, but this one looked cool, had dual band, and I was told if I'm spending over $100 on a router, it would give me all I wanted. All I wanted was internet access in my house and maybe even on my patio. At first, it worked well enough to make me think it was good, though on my patio, nothing. After 5 or 6 weeks the signal strength IN the house was so bad, my phone was logging on to a guest signal 6 houses away because that was the stronger. I figured then it must need to reboot or update or something, so I tried my provider, tried the modem, tried relocating the boxes, but still I had to turn off my phones wifi and use my limited data to open some apps or access internet. So I called linksys for help. After many tests and codes and updates or whatever... I was finally told that the reason my signal was so weak was that there were unauthorized devices "sitting" on my wifi, slowing it down and possibly gathering my personal info. They could do this, I was told, because my security was too weak. So the tech at linksys began installing a variety of anti virus, malware, spyware, showed me where someone in Russia was using my wifi to access internet explorer. Now how can someone in Russia get a signal when I can't get one with my devices sitting right next to the router?! As he continued installing a list of security items, I started feeling a sense of I'm thinking he's working me up for the big finish. Then boom!!, there it is. For a one time fee of $249.99, I would never have a problem with my wifi ever again. Yeah, I didn't know much about routers... but that's not necessarily an indication of a weak mind and a large bank account...... is it? The instant I informed him that not only would he not be getting $249.99 from me, but that I would also be taking my useless, $129.99 router back to Best Buy to plead my case for a full refund, he immediately began removing every single ware program he had just told me I couldn't go without. Granted, it's been almost 9 weeks since I brought this Performance Perfected piece into my home, likely past any standard refund limits, but not only has it at best, been a substandard router, when I contacted the manufacturer of this cool looking, defective device, the rep tries to swindle another $250 from me.... making the total cost of my "good" wifi router $380!! I'll be at Best Buy tomorrow with this thing and all its original packaging along with the basic plot resulting in this 1 star review... and I'm really hoping that they find it to be just cause to not only take my $130 away from linksys and return it to my bank, but to contact linksys themselves to see if maybe their products are no longer meeting the level of quality that Best Buy wants to put on their shelves. I've read other reviews, I know this is not a fluke, and I'm old enough to remember when Belkin was a name we could trust. And trust isn't cheap.

      Hi,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We know how frustrating the experience must have been for you. Based on the details that you've mentioned, it appears that you’ve reached a 3rd party group that was falsely advertising as our official Support partners. We can assure you that we don’t provide that kind of support. Allow us to investigate on this matter, and it would be helpful if you could give the number you dialled.

In the interim, we could try setting a fixed wireless channel for both networks to improve the router's wireless performance. Updating the firmware would also help. Please email us at [email protected] your contact details, location, and the link to this review for reference, so we can endorse you to our level 2 support team.

We hope to hear from you soon.

      Hi, Wifi,

We're glad that your router is working great. However, we're curious about your experience in setting up the router which is supposed to be a fast and easy process. If you have a case number, you may share it with us so we can have a better understanding about the possible root cause of this challenge. This would definitely help us to improve the quality of our products and services. Just send us an email at [email protected], anytime.

DOA out of box, no connectivity, reset, reset.

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this due to high praise of this router. Replacing a linksys wrt160n which died, but had been a great router. I have always bought linksys products and this one left a bad taste in my mouth. I unboxed the router and proceeded to set it up. After initial set up, seemed to work. Wrong. DID NOT RECOGNIZE ANY ETHERNET CABLED DEVICES. WOULD NOT OBTAIN IP ADDRESSES. WIreless seemed to work. Came home from work, no wifi. Reset system. Ran setup again. Didn't recognize wifi devices, couldn't connect. Spent numerous hours to get it working again. 6 or more hard resets and when you do that, you have to run setup again. Total pain.. Every day when i came home, same issue. Seemed to lose the config. After 7 days of frustration, returned it to best buy. Purchased a netgear AC1750. Plugged it in set it up in 20 min. Granted it doesnt have all the bells and whistles the linksys has, but it didn't function as designed. Could have just been a fluke, maybe not. Wasn't willing to try another one. In my opinion, stay away from this glitchy unreliable garbage. Linksys used to build quality, feel quality control has suffered.

      Hi, DL427,

The router should work flawlessly from the box. Our products have gone through rigorous testing before its release to the market. There are a couple of things that we could have tried to get it working and our Escalation Engineers would be more than happy to guide you through the process.

Should you need help with your other Linksys products, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected].

    Reset, reset, reset

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The title says it all. Virtually every other day this router would need to be reset due to it dropping bitrates. My provider replaced their modem 3 times before it came down to this router. Calls to Linksys customer unsupport always came up with the same response, "this is the first time this has been reported" even after my calling them daily for a week. Even Geek Squad was unable to get a straight answer from Linksys. Linksys did finally send out a replacement router, but that one had the exact same issue. This is a NOT READY FOR CONSUMER USE. This router is not worth the trouble. I recommend you do your research, talk to friends and BB salesman to find out what personally use. Wish you could give negative number ratings, because this product qualifies.

    This router is garbage!

Had this router for about 10 months, had issues with the 5ghz channel connectivity after about 3 months. After 2 telephone and 3 chat trouble shooting sessions they finally agree to replace the router. I go online to follow their replacement plan and in the process I have to enter a credit card number to get the replacement. I guess they want to make sure they get paid rather than take care of a customer. I will forego replacement because of this and will throw this terd of a router in the trash and go buy another brand.

    Looking Elsewhere

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I'm experiencing the same thing as many of the other reviews. Rather than list all of them, I'll just summarize that this router has been really unstable and needing to be rebooted at least once a day. While I'm sure there are some things that can be done to hopefully rectify this, this unit made an exceedingly bad first impression. I'm left with the decision to work with tech support to possibly fix it with the hopes that it doesn't act up again after I'm past the return window, or just return it now and roll the dice on something else. I'm choosing the latter.

    Slow wireless speed

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this to replace my ASUS router, because it does not have AC capability. The AC 1200 router will only allow a wireless network speed of 20Mbps. This speed is ok for checking email and light browsing of the internet. If you need more speed than this, I recommend you do not purchase this router.

      Hi, JRKinPC,

The speed of your Linksys router would still be dependent from your ISP's modem. However, there are ways to fully maximize its performance by tweaking the channels for both frequency bands to whatever matches with your current network environment. Please reach out to us at [email protected] so we can tap our Escalation Engineers to walk you through the process. Don't forget to include your contact information and the link to this post.

      Hi, Nick,

Your feedback is of great value, and this is definitely not the experience we wanted you to have with our Linksys WRT1200AC router. Having your device stopped working in a short period of time is not what we expected. We understand your sentiments, and we would like to make this right for you. We would much appreciate if you will give us more details about happened so we can check if your router is still good for reconfiguration. If there are still lights on it, we recommend to perform a factory reset to check if the router will still respond. If not, try a different power outlet. And if there are still no lights lit, get in touch with us via email so we can assist you in getting the unit replaced. Please reach out to us at [email protected] along with your contact details and the link to this post for reference. We would be more than willing to lend a hand.
