If it gets disconnected from the router, you will lose internet on all the devices connected to the range extender. We recommend that you set a permanent channel on your router to stabilize the connection. On the 2.4 GHz network, test channels 1, 3, 6, and 11. For the 5 GHz network, test channels 157 and 161. Allows to monitor users and put restrictions for the kiddos. Great range too. Customer service friendly too. Difficult setting up tough and I'm a computer tech. Be prepared to spend at least an hour with tech support.

I originally placed the unit in the master bedroom along the interior wall closest to the center of the condominium on my TV stand. The wall backed to the kitchen with appliances on the other side of the wall. Connectivity in the living room area, which was diagonally opposite the bed room, was hit and miss at best. I found the ideal place to place the router on the top shelf of a pantry in the middle of the Condo where there was access to the cable service but no power. Had to undertake some wiring modifications to provide a power outlet. Unit is now functioning well but little improvement over the 6 year old wireless router it replaced. I do get less buffering on streaming video but, so far, my experience with the unit suggests that placement is critical. (My primary residence is 3000 sq ft and have not experienced similar problems there).

The range is good (5 bedroom/ bi-level house, and the dual 2.4/5 gHz bands allow for faster, less congested bandwidth. Usually have 4 to 6 devices wireless, plus numerous hardwired in. I'm not a gamer, but I often stream video services and that seems to be working fine.
