Tech support (HUGE language barrier, beware if you need to call them) took me through the requisite steps which I had already done, then told me to take it back. I put in an AC1900 and it connected the first time.

Hooking up the EA6350 Router should always be easy using the Smart Setup embedded on its firmware which allows you to run the setup from your PC's web browser or a mobile device. We thank you for your time in posting this product review. There are different factors that would affect the wireless performance of the device. It is recommended that you place your router on the uppermost floor, and high up in the room. Try changing the wireless channel of your router to 1, 6 or 11 for 2.4 GHz and for 5 GHz change it to 36,40, 44 or 48.
