Your neighbor’s wireless networks or any appliance that operates on the same frequency as your wireless device may cause interference affecting your wireless connection and signal. Changing channels is one of the best ways to resolve intermittent wireless connection. The recommended channels for the 2.4 GHz network are 1, 6, & 11 since they are considered non-overlapping channels. The Linksys tech walked me through a problem detection routine and the item did not respond on any level as he said it should. I returned the item for a replacement. So far, the replacement is working properly. I cannot say how many other folks have had this problem and it is unlikely that I will ever need another provided this one continues to work. Maybe I just got the one out of a thousand bad ones. Therefore, I will still give it a recommend.

Solved my WiFi problems

The speed of the router is actually very good, performing as well or better, than advertised. The range however, which is highlighted as one of its many pluses, sucks! If you're not in the same room, forget it! If you live in a small home, I'd say that it's probably going to work well for you. Otherwise, keep on shopping.

Interference in your area could affect the wireless performance of your router. We can try setting a fixed channel on both networks. The recommended channels for the 2.4 GHz network are 1, 6, 9 and 11 and for the 5 GHz network, channels 36, 40, 44 and 48 are recommended to less likely encounter interference. Posted .Hi. A wireless router performance will depend on the interference affecting the wireless broadcast. Place the router in a higher location so the connection will become stronger. Changing the router's wireless channel will also help. Go to the wireless settings page by following the instructions in this link: http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=143717. For the 2.4 GHz network, try channels 1, 6, and 11. For the 5 GHz network, test channels 157 and 161.
