The fluctuating speed might've been caused by wireless interference but this can be fixed by changing the wireless channel. As for the SSID of the 2.4 GHz network, edit it again and reboot the router. If the same thing happens, updating the firmware can fix these imperfections.

There was no change. Returned it for the Asus ac3200. Way better connection. Can even walk my dog some distance and maintain a connection. Went from 1 of 4 bars in my bedroom to 4 of 4 bars.
