Then it started intermittently losing both wired and wireless connection. For the past couple months it loses connection every couple days, sometimes several times a day, and I've been having to turn off and on to get it to re-establish connection. With my home PC, work PC and local printer attached to this router, and having multiple people in the house needing to print through this device, it's been extremely frustrating. I'd rather have my 15 year old Linksys router back.

There are workarounds that could help you have a strong wireless signal with this router. Aside from assigning a static wireless channel, try also to reposition the antennas of the router. As long as your Internet Service Provider supports broadband Internet connection such as a cable or DSL modem with RJ45 (Ethernet) connection, then the router should work with it. Also, there are instances that you must first change your modem or gateway to bridge mode. In this setup, the modem becomes a pass-through device allowing your third party router to function properly.
