I bought this for the 5g network it has, and it hasn't disappointed me. The set up was easy and I was able to set up different passwords for the 5g, normal connection, and one I can give out to guests. The only con with this wifi router is that if your not connected to the 5g it can be painfully slow, but other than that it's IMO worth the money.

AVOID THIS ROUTER!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
This has been, BY FAR, one of the worst routers that I have every purchased. Connectivity issues, overheating issues, Internet Issues, speed bogging down issues... you name it! This router took my 100mbps directly through cable modem speed and sent it down to 25mbps. Contacted Customer service (which I will give credit to... They were nice up to the point that I wanted to return the router) which proceeded to turn off almost every function of the router that I wanted to use. Guest network, AC, etc. And, it still didn't work. I found that I had to reset the router almost every day to have it keep the speed, even through cat5 connections.
Terrible router! I would avoid this router at all costs. Replaced with a NETGEAR Nighthawk and haven't had ANY of the issues that I have incurred with this router!
Terrible... Just TERRIBLE!

Great router for home

This router was an upgrade from our previous Linksys router, which was about 10 years old. It has extended our wifi in hour him to reach the third floor bedroom and the speed is much faster. We hav 13 devices on this router and speed never stalls or doesn't work. Overall pretty impressed with the router.

Really does extend the range of Wifi!

I have two of these. It did help to extend the range of the router from a room on the second floor of my house all the way to a barn 100 yards away and through walls to a mother-in-law suite. I did require assistance through Linksys to set them both up and use properly.

No much of a "techie"

Set up this router wirelessly (with my iPhone) All you have to do is download an app. I'm not very "techie" so it took me longer than the average person to set up. Using the 2.5GHz band because it gets better signal throughout the whole house. Sometimes using 5 devices including a Roku and Apple TV.

Bought this router while it was on sale while my expensive router was unavailable. Easily hitting 550 Mbps no issues at all on 5g. Totally did not expect the performance this router is packed with. You can't go wrong if you're going for value here.

okay for first 4 months, not good after that

First 4 months were great, easily covering 1200 sqft condo but it's progressively gotten worse. I have had it for 9 months total and I'm looking for a new router now. This last month has gotten so bad that it's not worth it to suffer any more. Both my computers site only 20 feet away so I know it's not my laptops. The router literally drops WiFi 5-10 times a day, the signal strength bounces between strong and week all day long, and it seems like I'm rebooting that thing daily now. I think it's just worn out. It always ran hot since I got it from day one and I think it's just a case of poor cooling design. The ethernet lights on back side went out. When it works though, it streams great. I've had PS3 gaming on, 2 netflix connections, and general WiFi to the device with no issues. Design is nice & slim, admin software console is easy to use, and it has good security. I was hoping for a new bios update or something but nothing released in a long time. Off to buy something new

i had a previous linksys router before which was the e1000 for 4 years and it worked well but since I have more devices I deemed it was time regrade to this and it was a big mistake this router constantly lost connection all the time and when I called linksys tech support after trying to help me all they could do was try to upsell me telling me this router wasn't good enough for the number of products I had in my home this really turned me off especially since on the linksys site it said otherwise then the guy on the phone is asking me for my credit card before he even told me the total amount needless to say I didn't upgrade I hung up returned the router then brought a netgear an haven't had a problem since fyi the netgear is a 1750ac same as the linksys.

For my first router it is doing what I wanted. Can't really say it's the best because I can't compare it to another. But I'm getting three bars in bedroom now and can watch Netflix. It is running security cameras also. I'm very pleased. Great price.

A router is not an Amazon purchase

If you live remote and have router fail an Amazon purchase is not an option. Drive to town and buy is what you got. Thank your Lord for Best Buy. I go with Linksys because of ease of install. Is the ISP up? Yup. Heading to town for a Best Buy visit. How's the beer stash, honey?

I had this router for almost 5 months now, it's nothing but a useless router. It drops connection every 10 minutes, and signal strength is really really bad. my Wifi Analyzer constantly says noise level is around -60DB. I am returning it or sending back to Linksys.

I used my existing Linksys iOS app after accessing the router. Using the setup steps on the app, I was up and running in under 2 minutes with blistering fast speeds. Wow! Have stuck with and will continue to stick with Linksys routers for all my wifi needs.

Purchased this router as an upgrade of my Netgear N300. It had worked fine for the past 5 years, but we were having problems getting on line with my wife's iPad. We went to Best Buy were the guy told us that it wasn't the iPad, but that we were trying to connect too many items with an old router. The Linksys AC 1200 was on sale for $99, so we purchased it. After setting it up at home we found it to be not only slower that the Netgear, but connectivity seemed to be random on all our products; and in most cases would drop one of our Apple products after only a few minites of being connected. We returned it the next day and purchased a Apple router, which is working perfectly.
