The range on this router is pretty lame. Wishing I would have spent the extra dough on one with better range.

probably good for dorm room, not house

This is one of best brands of routers but I think we may have got a lemon. It wouldn't let me set it up to begin with and when it finally connected has been slow and disconnects unless your in room with router. Sending it back and getting the bigger one.

Hi, Drei.
We want to check on this better. The router should provide you with strong internet speeds of up to N450 + AC1300 Mbps throughout your home. Make sure that it is running on the latest firmware and that the device is centrally located with little to no physical obstructions (such as glass or concrete) surrounding that may dampen its signal. For further assistance, reach out to us at [email protected]. Include your contact information with the link to your review for easy reference.
Hoping to hear from you soon.

More than decent performance for the price

I bought one of these in a kit with a range extender a few months back when my primary router decided it was time to fail.
If you've read reviews of Linksys' routers, you undoubtedly know that Linksys has a cloud-based feature for controlling your router away from home. I won't rehash about that feature, but it does work pretty well from anywhere that you're connected to the internet.
Wired network performance is great, wireless AC performance is great, and wireless N performance is where I expect it to be. Keep in mind that AC1750 is just a number Linksys' marketing department puts on this; it's derived from the AC1300 5GHz theoretical limit and the N450 2.4GHz theoretical limit; I saw around 775mbit/sec on 5GHz and around 130mbit/sec on the 2.4GHz connections. The router was able to keep up with a Google Fiber connection with ease, saturating the connection speed on download after download over direct connections and bittorrent.
Both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz range is decent and will give you coverage in a smaller house or any apartment, but don't expect the kind of range you'd get from Linksys' RangeMax line or WRT line, since internal antennas trade off range for style.
The USB ports also prove handy for expansion purposes. With a USB 3.0 and a USB 2.0 port, you can easily add storage and wired-only printers to this router that can be shared among all your devices on the network.
One other thing about this router is even though Linksys won't advertise it as such, it can be "hacked" easily with alternative firmwares like DD-WRT and Tomato. These alternative firmwares give you additional features that don't come standard with these routers such as VPN endpoint functionality, but they will void your warranty if you install one and the router fails.
All in all, the EA6700 is a good value for what it is, made even better if you're not afraid to void your warranty and tinker with it a bit. Even on stock firmware, however, It's definitely an upgrade over what most ISPs give you for a router and worth looking into if you're still using a single-band or older N300 router, as the performance improvements will help your internet experience.

USB not currentlycompatible with Apple OSX 10.12.6

The set-up procedure requires a lengthy firmware update before the router is operational. If you request tecn support from Linksys to assist with the update, there are several billable service plans. You'll be dealing with tech support in India. The assisted firmware update takes about an hour.
After the update was installed, the WiFi connection was superb. However, connecting a printer to a USB port requires another software update. Unfortunately the current update from LInksys is not compatible with the current Apple OSX operating system version, so a USB printer connection will not work on a Mac for the time being.
Be aware of this glitch if you're planning to connect a USB printer to your Mac.

excellent router but poor signal strength

I really like Linksys routers' software and capabilities, but this one disappoints because without external antennas it provides much weaker signals than an older Linksys that has external antennas.

When ever there's a power outage, you need to reboot the router. We seldom get power failures but rebooting and setting it up again is becoming annoying.

Ok, I am about 1 week in, with using this router and I have had nothing but issues since day one. Mind you, I know quite a bit about networking and this is not a decent router, at least the one I received. Wouldn't even recommend to a stranger.
