Linksys should make you happy AND connected

I had been going through WiFi routers every two to three years (probably due to line voltage issues). This is built well, very sturdy, and covers my whole house easily. Make sure to set a security password, as it will probably travel further than you want. Easy to set up, easy to add devices, and great light show on the back!

A Very Stable Workhorse of a Wireless Router

    Posted .

After receiving the Linksys EA7500 I proceeded to go through what I had anticipated would be the arduous task of setting up my new router. I couldn't have been more wrong. Following the enclosed Quick Start Up Guide I had the EA7500 configured and up and running in less than 10 minutes. I manually entered the network configuration settings from my old Linksys EA6500 so that all of my devices would be able to connect immediately to the new router, alleviating the need to reconfigure any network devices. From a wireless perspective, everything went flawlessly, all wireless devices automatically connecting to the router at their optimum connection speeds ( i.e. - AC capable devices at 5 ghz, legacy devices at 2.4 ghz) however, I did run into a minor hick-up when trying to establish a LAN connection to my Vonage device using DHCP. In this instance it was necessary to establish a Static IP address for my Vonage device as the EA7500 was having difficulty in establishing a connection. This observation has been reported to the Linksys Support Team. Since completing the setup, all wired and wireless network devices have been working flawlessly. The Linksys "Smart WiFi" interface makes customization of the router a breeze giving the user an easy way to check the health of their wired & wireless network environment. Utilities such as speed test, guest network setup, parental controls, prioritization, network status, etc., are all offered in an easy to understand graphical interface. Additionally, you have the added capability of accessing your router remotely as well. Our Wireless Devices include: *4 Computers, 4 Smartphones, 2 Smart TV's, 2 Android Tablets, Linksys WUMC-710 Wireless Media Bridge supporting Sony Blu-ray player, Pioneer Receiver, Samsung Smart TV, wireless printer. Wired Devices include: AT&T Microcell, Vonage, WD MyCloud Back-up We tried our own stress test on this router by running 2 movie streams along with 3 large simultaneous downloads, a couple of instances of web surfing along with my son playing Diablo 3 on maximum settings on an Alienware gaming computer. I know that this not exactly a scientific test but I can say that as good as my previous Linksys EA6500 is, it would never have been able to simultaneously support these operations, ever. Downloads did seem to slow down a bit and web surfing was not quite as brisk but the streaming of the movies and the game play continued without buffering or interruption. As a side note, our connection speed is 55 Mbps and it appeared that we were consuming almost everything that the connection speed would support. Faster connection speeds would undoubtedly result in even better results. The Linksys EA7500 has been absolutely rock solid over the past 3 weeks with NO instances of broadcast interruption. I appreciate having a device that can easily handle the load that I am asking of it rather than a product that struggles to keep pace. This router has given me confidence in its abilities and has given me no reason to doubt its reliability. We are now out of the "honeymoon" period with the EA7500 so time will ultimately tell how the router performs over the long haul. It certainly seems to be up to the task based on what I have seen so far! Disclaimer: I received this product “free of charge” from Linksys in exchange for my honest and unbiased feedback and review.

So you really want an awesome router that can handle all of your needs? This router is perfect for you to choose and buy, from a name and brand that you can trust! I am an IT Systems Engineer and have used Linksys products back in the day when they were owned by Cisco. The same technologies that Cisco uses for its networking products are in the Linksys brand. The MU-MIMO channel-bonding technology and the fast AC throughput will serve all of your in-home streaming and gaming needs via Wi-Fi. It can handle the few or many devices that you can throw at it. Also for you, hard core gamers or people that need that hardwired connection, rest assured that the four-port GigaBit Ethernet ports will definitely keep you up and be running at dedicated speeds. Plus when you utilize the Smart Wi-F technology from Linksys, you can make sure that the right device gets the priority needed to keep you gaming, streaming, or whatever you happen to be doing online at the moment. I cannot say enough good things about this product other than go forth and buy this today!

    Experienced Problems

I experienced serious problems with this router's ability to maintain WiFi/internet signals amongst the many other signals in my building. My current router (Verizon FiOS) has no problem with this, but I had hoped that with this being a dual-band router (2.4 GHz & 5 GHz), I could swap some of my devices to the 5 GHz to improve speed while keeping some of my smaller devices on the 2.4 GHz. I did this and experienced problems across the board. The WiFi and/or internet signal would cut out intermittently causing my phone to temporarily lose functionality until I turned WiFi off so that I could use cellular data. Obviously, this is not ideal. I can say that setup with this router is a breeze which is usually not the case. What is even better is the admin app that you can download and use to change all of the administrative functions without having to be directly connected to the network. This is great if you need to adjust something while away. My review is mixed and would've been much better had I not experienced signal loss problems. I'm not certain what caused it as my old router performed just fine when I swapped them out. From what I've read, most of our current devices that use WiFi aren't equipped with the necessary hardware to make use of the new AC MU-MIMO technology. As our devices catch up to the technology of the router, it should become a much more valuable tool.

We were tossed between this and one by Netgear, but ultimately chose the Linksys due to bandwidth capabilities. It was a snap to set up and we have had no issues so far. The speed has been fantastic as well. Really, it is everything we were missing with our old router.

This router provides a strong signal for a large portion of my home and has the capacity to handle up to 12 users at the same time. I used this router to replace a less powerful one and I have been impressed with its signal strength and breath of coverage.

My old router had to be reset often. I have had the Linksys Ac1900 for a couple of months and it has never stopped working. I purchased the RE7000 range extender also but haven't needed it. The Ac1900 covers my 3 level condo without the extender.

Previous to this purchase I was using a Netgear N600 router and was getting speeds of 65-70 Mbps using Speedtest.net. Since I've installed this router I consistently get speeds of 145-160 Mbps. An amazing product with amazing performance!

This Linksys unit is probably one of the best ones they've built. The hardware is very solid and the extra upper vents dissipates heat properly. So far it's been extremely reliable and great connections with my Surface Pro, Dell Tablets, and all of our phones and printers. The instructions is clear and easy to understand. The setup process was a breeze through its wizard.

I was very happy with the product the first week, but turn out to be short lived. I use and this up as an access point. I am not using NAT, DNS, or other function of this router. I use the manual configuration and not the wizard. Set G/N on the 2.4 GHz and AC on the 5 GHz. Channel were on auto. Have about 8 device on wireless with about 4 active at any given time. Pros: - It has an intuitive interface, so I didn't even need to use the manual other than for the login and password. Of coarse, you have to have some basic understanding of how to configure the router. - Wireless security was setup with the highest encryption for home use thus ensure the average user is protected. I just change the SID, pass phrase, and enable access to configuration through wire. - AC speed was 866 Mb/sec about 35 ft away with direct line of sight using Lenovo T450s with Intel wireless Cons: - Really, the only con I have is that the router slows down and need to be restarted about once a week. This happen on the AC side of my old router and never on the G/N side. However, the first time this router slow down was on the G/N at 2.4 GHz. All the following was on the AC side. After the first 3 times, I just do a quick on/off as I walk by the router. Same issue after I updated to the latest firmware which is a minor version update.

I received this product as a free review unit from linksys. Once I got through the new dashboard system for the setup, the router works great. In using this router i have gotten a speed increase of about 10% without changing my internet subscription. As well as the increase bandwidth through multiple wireless and wired device consuming data at the same time. I have had multiple linksys routers in the past and this one blows the others out of the water. Plug and play worked flawlessly, but the user interface of the admin controls could use some improvements. Once I found where everything was located it was a breeze.
