Good router
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router was easy to setup and provides good signal in all parts of the house. It lost one star since the USB port is for "future expansion" and is currently unable to support external USB storage.

Replaced Netgear 6x with this
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced Netgear 6x that kept cutting out. This Linksys seems to be operating pretty good. As it ages it seems to be getting slower but does not cut out.

Strong Performing Router
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Linksys MR9000 router is a strong performer, offering up great coverage, mostly modern features, and future expanability in a package that should last most for the foreseeable future. As seems to be common these days, router setup was handled via a free mobile app. This involved nothing other than ensuring bluetooth was on, putting the phone near the powering up router, and waiting a bit. One issue I ran into was that I needed to unplug my modem, likely an IP/mac address issue or something of the like, but after restarting, the app handled the setup work fine. When this type of setup works as intended, it's significantly more convenient than the old ways of doing things. After getting it setup, I ran through the usual speed test paces across various areas of my home. I live in a 2100 sq ft, bi level house, with the router being placed at one far side of the lower level. Generally, this has been problematic for most routers, as my bed room is on the complete opposite end of the house on the top level. Recently, I've turned to mesh networks to help alleviate this issue, which worked well. To my surprise, however, the MR9000 gave me roughly 70-85% of full throughput in my bed room, without the aid of any extenders/mesh nodes. This is easily the best performance I've seen, undoubtedly the result of some of the modern MU-MIMO features on board. Frankly, this is leaving me pondering whether I can get rid of my mesh network. Gaming garnered a similar impression; my gaming computer connected via WiFi had zero issues with latency, signal drops, or slow downs. This thing is made for consistent, reliable fast throughput. Back on the topic of mesh networks for a moment; one of the great features on tap is the fact that you can expand your network by adding Velop nodes to create an expansive mesh network. This ensures you'll have future expandability regardless of what needs might arise. To my disappointment, however, I had a Linksys ME9000 tri-band extender laying around, so I attempted to get this setup as a mesh node. No go. For whatever reason, it seems Linksys hasn't enabled the ME9000 for use as a mesh node, though it clearly should have the capability since it has the back-haul 5ghz band to necessitate it. Plan to purchase new equipment to utilize true mesh network capabilities if you're buying this router. One point I should mention is that it's a slight disappointment that Linksys didn't certify this as a WiFi 6 router. Frankly, it's the only real issue keeping this from being a completely future proof router. While there aren't a ton of devices today that can take advantage, there are more every day and it'll be not long before WiFi 6 is a must-have feature. This router performed above my expectations in ease of setup and performance. As mentioned, it's rare that a single router (in this price range, anyhow) is able to blanket my entire house with usable signal. The icing on the cake is the ability to add nodes in the future if the need arises.

Fantastic Router
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I decided to give this router a full two week test before posting a review. I will break down this review into four categories: Setup/Installation, usage, full press usage, verdict. So here is how it went. My current/previous router was also a Linksys router; a Linksys EA6350 dual band router. I should also mention that I had purchased that router roughly three years ago. Setup/installation: In the old days, you would go to a URL, create a log in, and control everything from passwords, temporary guest log ins, etc... now, everything is done through a smart phone app. The router and app were installed in less than ten minutes. The amount of control the app gives you is more than I expected. Everything can be easily accessible through your phone. Usage: At first I connected five devices to simulate an average household. I paired my laptop, my smart television, my phone, my tablet, and my gaming console. Every device was constantly connected. I should also note that I have 300 mbps fiber internet, so I was able to conduct speed tests to see how it was going in that aspect. I took my phone and tablet around my 2200 sq. feet ranch style house, and the internet connection was not only stable but just as quick as it would be if I were standing next to the router itself. Streaming on my smart tv went just as smoothly. 4K looked crisp and clean, no lag hiccups, no interruptions, constant viewing. Gaming on both laptop and console were also smooth. I've always plugged my console directly to my routers because I didn't want to experience any lags during multiplayer games. I found it to be relatively similar having my console plugged in vs. wi-fi. Full press usage: This is where I simulate usage as if it was a household of a family. I had paired three cellphones, two laptops, three tablets, two smart televisions, two gaming consoles, and also invited two of my friends to bring their laptops and phones as well. For this, I had both televisions streaming content at 4K, all the laptops were streaming videos at 4K from my backyard, and for gaming, we all went to different points in the house/back yard and played a game together to see if we encountered any lag. We then switched to playing a hockey game while all the devices were streaming 4K content. Everything ran smoothly. We tried to run as many devices as the router would let us, which is a limit of 25 I believe. (This was all done without any extra nodes, just the one router) Verdict: The range performance is excellent, I took my phone to the far corner of my backyard, and the inside of my garage, and performance was stable. I connected a total of 16 devices at the same time, and speed was constant, and we all ran speed tests throughout, and averaged around 287-293, so that was great to see. Gaming was just as quick and stable via wireless as it was connected to the RJ-45 port. For anybody with a ranch style house with at least 4 bedrooms, this is a great router to get.
