mostly plug and play - improves w each update
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased to pair with an AX6000 to mesh the GF house. Is a bit odd to set up the first time - the final trick was to download the iphone app and use it to auto config the channel settings for the network.

Adequate Router

Set up was a little tricky, the instructions are useless. You will need to call tech help and let them walk you through the process.

Wifi signal is poor vs a 10 year old TPlink router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had high hopes for this router. I mean it just came out, it's 2020 and it's advertised with the latest technology, so to say I'm disappointed by the wi-fi strength of this router, is an understatement. Replaced my Tp-Link Archer C5 router which came out in 2014 with this one. It's not that the C5 was malfunctioning; it's just that I thought upgrading to a 2020 wi-fi 6 model would improve things across the board. It's been setup correctly. I'm no novice with technology and it was installed in the exact place as the C5. Everything that is ethernet connected hits the maximum 300mb download and 30 mb upload speeds, but then so did the Tplink c5. Anything connected by wifi is pretty poor. For example the farthest point in my home with the wifi connected to a laptop, I was getting 80mbs / 15 from the Archer C5. This one, 12mb's download and 2mb upload speeds. I've got a Nvidia shield about 20 feet away that when connected to this router flagged me that my network connection was poor, where as both the 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz separate connections on the Archer C5 were all a solid green light for connectivity. My home isn't huge. It's about 1400 sqft. This shouldn't have been an issue with a brand new 2020 router and I've checked everything and done everything within the settings to improve things, but no dice. Sure, I could add a node with another mesh router doubling the cost and adding another piece of hardware, but I shouldn't have to, and I shouldn't have to change the location of the router to get a better signal when the Archer C5 router has zero issues in my entire home. I'm just going to return this and upgrade to a better model with a stronger square footage wifi distance or go Mesh, but I'm now a bit skeptical with anyone that talks about any 2020 router being superior to an older router. I don't have anything currently with wifi 6 to test that out, but I still think this 2020 router should have surpassed a 6 year old router's wifi signal easily and yet it doesn't.
