I like this router because the app and ease of use are great. Also, the range is better than an old single router. Cons: I have to reset this router more than once a week! I have owned many Linksys routers previously and not ANY problems what-so-ever, so when I saw this device I based my purchase off previous experience - boy was I wrong! Would not recommend!

Installed 4 in my 3800sq/ft. home, quite confident this is one of the best available systems. No signal problems at all. Initial connection to modem to a few attempts but once up and running its pretty solid.

    Problem child...

So I have the older Velop system throughout my apt and was very eager to upgrade to WIFI 6 tech. I thought the MX10 dual pack was my very expensive answer. Setting up of the parent node went fine but trying to connect the second child node was infuriating. This system is supposed to cover 6000, yes, 6000 square feet. I have a 1200 square foot, one floor apt. The child node was always too far away even though it was roughly 25-30 feet from the parent node. I thought this new tech was supposed to travel through walls without issue...well, that's not true at all in my case. After many, many attempts and a worthless Linksys tech call, I threw in the towel. I got a little better connection speed with just the single parent node running than my previous Velop system but that's NOT worth the $700 price tag. They are going back to Best Buy tomorrow and perhaps I'll try the single pack instead of the dual pack.

      Hi spezaled,

There is a possibility that the floor layout of your apartment is causing too much physical interference for the signal. The Velop nodes may need to be placed in specific locations to maximize its wireless coverage.

Allow us to have our Escalation Engineers assist you further with the Velop system so that they can help you achieve the performance that you are expecting.

Just send us your contact details at [email protected] so that we can escalate your case. Don't forget to include the link to this post as a reference.

We hope to hear from you soon.

My wife and I purchased this after moving my office out of the shared home office, while both of us are working from home during COVID-19. For the price, we expected better results. We are having some network issues with only one wall and two closet doors between our current office set up. We only have a 1500 square-foot floor plan on the first floor and we’re expecting much better signals throughout our entire home, much less that close by.

    Wifi 6 "futureproof"

I have been using a pair of 802.11ac routers (Wifi 5), one as the main and one as an access point, for quite some time now waiting for Wifi 6 to hit. The biggest benefit without getting too technical will be this next generation Wifi being able to handle many more simultaneous request at a time. Very few people have Wifi 6 devices yet other than maybe a new cell phone (note 10 and Iphone 11 are wifi 6 equipped) so this will certainly be a system that you "grow" into as new devices begin supporting the standard. Anyways, long story short while these do carry a big price tag you shouldn't expect to have to upgrade anytime soon. Now onto some of the other important features here. These are tri-band nodes which is nice if you want to set your mesh network up over wifi. This allow the node to have a dedicated 5ghz backhaul which will improve network speeds overall. These also support wired backhaul which is always going to be the preferred configuration for a mesh network as it will ensure a gigabit connection between your nodes. Setting up the nodes with either a wifi backhaul or ethernet backhaul was very easy. Linksys uses a system that will allow you to have a single SSID for both your 5ghz and 2.4ghz channels. The node will negotiate the connection speed and consider the signal strength and push the packets through whatever is ideal. I personally still use separate SSID for my 5ghz and 2.4ghz channels. Unfortunately the configuration overall for the design of your network is pretty minimal. Unless I am missing something you cannot create multiple subnets which is a little disappointing. By being able to subnet it would allow you to make a completely seperate network for your more sensitive devices like security equipment. I also do not see a way to configure a VPN for the router to use. These are features that my previous Asus routers had, so that is a little disappointing. I have this system set-up in my ~4200sq/ft home using a wired backhaul and I have coverage all over the house. There are a few spots that have a slightly weaker signal but that is to be expected. Being this is a Linksys mesh system you can always add another supported router or velop node to expand signal to problematic areas. Overall I think for the average medium to large house hold these are a solid option and I doubt most would care about the more technical configuration options I mentioned above so would not hesitate recommending this system to a friend or family member. I did give it 4 stars as I feel like Linksys (owned by cisco) could provide a little more robust router configuration options within the firmware.

I don't write a lot of reviews but thought I should with this. I purchased this because I do not have hardwired through out. I thought this would fix the problem. The Mesh does not travel through walls as it leads you to believe. There are times I'm getting decent speeds, but no matter where I move the second node I can' get above 180mb (I have FIOS GB, and am getting 900 directly to the 1st node). You do not get the choice to choose your channel or are you able to choose which node your device connects to. I have tried doing channel scans it always comes back saying I'm connected to the best channel (no changes made). You do not get any RSSI level between the2 nodes in order to choose the best location for your devices. In theory it being tri-band and having 2 5ghz channels is awesome but you can't manually load balance. I received just as good bandwidth using Verizons Router and bridge. I'm pretty let down by this my home is 2400sqft and a very open floor plan, so them saying these 2 nodes will cover 6000sqft (better be a wide open warehouse with line of site). For $600 this should be the best option out there and should be full of features allowing full administration, instead it is worse then FIOS provided equipment and doesn't allow you to administer the full capability. I will be returning to Best Buy Shortly not sure what I will try next but it won't be Linksys.

      Hi, JeepVB,

The Linksys MX10600 Wi-Fi 6 Mesh system should provide you with up to 5.3 Gbps Wi-Fi connectivity. If you still have your Velop system, we can have our Escalation Engineers provide further troubleshooting and investigate what happened to the system. You may send more details at [email protected] with your contact details and the link to this review for our reference.

I bought this Linksys MX10 system to try and get better WiFi speed out of my gig a blast internet. And my speeds are slower than my 4 year old router. It’s past the return date so I am stuck with an very over priced system that I not currently using any more. Maybe Linksys will do a firmware update and I will try it again. For now it’s back to my old Linksys router.

      Hi, James,

This is totally unexpected as we built the Velop MX10600 Mesh WiFi router to provide next-gen Wi-Fi 6 speeds and whole-home mesh coverage. There could be some settings that we need to adjust to optimize its performance. Please email us at [email protected] with your contact details and the link to this post as a reference. We'll have our Escalation Engineers contact you for better assistance.

I am a tech savvy individual and have had some issues with WiFi calling due to congestion on the network with the neighborhood. Our phones have poor signal where I live but have 1 gig internet so WiFi calling isn't a problem. The solution would be an ideal WiFi 6 network for both increased speed and lower clutter. I ended up setting up the Linksys Velop system and the performance was much worse than my existing Eero system which consists of an Eero Pro, 2 Eero Beacons, and an Eero in my office which is hard wired into my PC. My PC consistently gets 300 down and 30 up. After installing 2 Linksys Velops in my house which claims to be built for 6000 square feet I thought for sure I would be sitting pretty however my 3600 square foot house was apparently too much since the Linksys Velop had dead spots and connection was spotty. Add to this the performance was a fraction of the Eero in the office achieving only 100 meg down. I will be returning this ASAP.

      Hi MarineDad,

It's odd that the Velop System is giving you such challenges when it comes to speed and connection stability after the initial set up. Before setting it aside, our Escalation Engineers would like to take a closer look at your experience and help you figure out what's causing this to happen. With the link to this review and your contact details, please send us an email at [email protected] so they can lend you a hand on this matter. Indicate a small but brief description of your network topology and their LED statuses when they lost connection from the network.
