I purchased the Linksys - Dual-Band Wireless-N USB 2.0 Adapter Model: AE2500-NP | SKU: 6571616 and the Linksys - Dual-Band Wireless-N USB 2.0 Adapter Model: AE2500-NP | SKU: 6571616 together because the salesman told me I would “issues” with my old router. My old router went years without a failure. This configuration fails several times a day. It is configured with smoke and mirrors so you can’t fix it without access to the company propriety information.

My son in law said our NetGear wireless router was old and not fast enough. What do I know? So I replaced it and I see no difference from the old one.

Handles all of my wireless devices

After talking with a Best Buy salesperson and discussing my wireless needs, I bought this Linksys E2500 to update a Linksys WRT54G which was 5+ years old, because it supported wireless N and was reasonably priced. Set up was easy; just plug and play. Setting up each device was not seamless, however. Some devices were recognized easily, and could be renamed (useful when setting up parental controls). But others required accessing the advanced settings in order to rename them. The router also could not distinguish between more than two of the same type of device. For example, I have 3 ipod touch's and an iphone5, and the router could not recognize all of these individually. I updated the firmware to the latest version released 12/2012, but still had the same problem. There is also a limit of 5 devices which you can set up with parental controls. Aside from that, Linksys has been reliable, and this router has handled all of my devices (9 and counting) so far. I also like the guest login feature, so friends can connect securely.

It's okay for the price, but we find that our internet is a little slow unless you're within 5 feet of the router.

This was purchased to replace a 4 year old router and the range is half of the old one. We returned for a more powerful one.

The internet service I have says my download speed should be 100 Mbps...I am only getting about 40. When I hardware it and bypass the router I get about 98 Mbps. It's only about a month old. When I link to the internet I am next to the router and they suggested that I get an extender for my router.

    Excellent, Reliable Product

I've been in the market to buy a wireless router that will support my laptop computer around my home. The primary purpose, besides internet, is for gaming (MMORPG's). As any gamer knows, maintaining a solid internet connection is vital. I'm a little technologically-challenged, and was anxious about finding a reliable yet affordable wireless router, especially having never used one. Based on Amazon reviews, I decided to try this one. I am so happy with my purchase. It was extremely easy to set up. I just inserted the installation CD that came with the router into the laptop, and it launched an easy visual step-by-step process. I think it totaled about four steps. Tip: If your computer doesn't pick up on the router right away, turn off the modem, router, and computer and then restart them all (in that order). This causes the computer to recognize the router (resets). Anyway, I've gamed several days with this router's connection, and haven't experienced so much as a lag. No connection drops, fast Internet, it's been wonderful. I definitely recommend this router.

This router can not provide a consistent stream to your devices. Also, it can't penetrate through walls easily and you lose even more bandwidth on 2nd floor.

Our home's wireless connection was broken after Cox Communications upgraded our modem. I was told my router was out-dated and I need a new router. So I stopped by Best Buy and an associate recommended this product after asked my home's setup - I have multiple devices (computers, laptop, and printer) needed to be hooked up via wireless. This product serves my multiple devices' needs. It also has a CD that will guide you for installation. It is very easy to setup and it only took me a few minutes to get everything worked again! I was very happy to have everything back to order and appreciate the good advice from the Best Buy's associate. -- I purchased this product a couple of weeks ago and have not found any problem with it.

A week ago I bought Netgear-600, the installation itself was complicated and the speed wasn't as expected. My major requirement was to fasten my 'chromecast', so I returned Netgear and bought this Linksys Router. Ahh man the installation was so easy and my chromecast was super fast no lag between my laptop & chromecast. We have 3 laptop, 2 mobile devices & 2 tablets connected to this wifi and it is super fast.

      Hi, Phil,

The difficulty you've encountered during the setup seems adverse, and we appreciate your letting us know about what happened. The possible reason why it got stuck at 90% was that the router couldn't establish a connection with your modem. Getting in touch with your Internet Service Provider is a good move.

In case you need assistance with your Linksys router, don't hesitate to send us an email at [email protected]. We'd be happy to help you out.
