Customers are saying

Customers enjoy the Velop AC1300 Dual-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 5 System's ease of use, expanded Wi-Fi coverage, and strong signal. Many appreciate the improved range and performance compared to single routers, finding setup straightforward. A common concern, however, is the relatively high cost.

We live in a 2400 sq ft house with an upstairs bonus room. Spreading these throughout the house ensures WiFi coverage. We have one in the kitchen, closest to a detached garage, and it covers that garage too.

    Horrible Product

This review is for the Linksys Velop AC3900, not the more expensive AC4400 or AC600. This product can only be described as incredibly insufficient at best, and highway robbery at worst. If I could give it zero stars, I would. I bought this because of all the buzz and positive reviews of wireless mesh systems, including Linksys Velop. I was going to replace a very good Netgear Nighthawk AC1900, as I was going to move the Nighthawk to use at another home. The quick and easy setup is a joke--to even get the second and third nodes to connect I had to set up each of the 3 nodes as it's own network, and upgrade the firmware, then reset, then add back to a single network. This process took about 90 minutes in and of itself, not counting the 2 hours the night before struggling without success to get another node connected. You do all setup via an app for iPhone (or Android), which is slow and unresponsive if you run into issues with the setup, as I did. The primary node was set up in my basement (same location as my Nighthawk), with the second node exactly one floor up--same area of the home but a floor up. I put the third node on the main floor as well but on the other side of the house (approximately 40 feet). The second node one floor up could connect, but you couldn't stream a single video, in the same room, without buffering constantly, or losing connection. It actually worked better connecting to the primary node in the basement. As for the third node, it could barely get a connection (orange light) so I didn't even bother testing. Please keep in mind my internet was fast (113mb download speed) with my Nighthawk, which is a single wireless router. I have to add that I have a large brick fireplace in the center of my home that is in the basement as well as the main floor. However, this did not impact my Nighthawk at all, so I am not sure why or if it would impact the Velop. I also called Linksys support earlier today and their advice was about as useful as a flat tire--a painful process and won't allow you to get where you want to go. I suggest their Community boards for any sort of answers first--that is where I found the suggestion to update firmware. In closing, I will be taking advantage of Best Buy's return policy and getting a different router, most like another Nighthawk. I'll try wireless mesh in the future, but it will not be a Linksys product.

      Hi, Andy,

For the Velop System to function as intended, we agree that each node must run the latest firmware. However, the setup should be easily done through the Linksys app, and more importantly, the coverage is expected to be reliable once its Channel Finder feature is utilized. Although we regret to hear your feedback, please allow our Escalation Engineers to contact and make it up to you. Just email the case number or your contact details, along with the link to this post, at [email protected].

We look forward to hearing more from you.

      Regards,

      Klaudette

Very pleased. Coverage fantastic with minimal problems with setup. Tad bit disappointed you can’t assign node to particular device. Seemed to slow down internet download speed slightly compared to previous router but not significantly.

We worked with Kyle at Best Buy and he asked us what we were using and how many devices. He explained everything about why this system would be best for us now and into the future should we and more devices. Kyle recommended the Linksys Velop 3 pack.

I work from home and my internet was dropping approximately every 30 minutes. I would be presenting via a video call and would get dropped. My son told me about this so I thought I would give it a try. What a difference this has made. Thank you.

Absolutely reccomend this! My wifi coverage is better than I have ever had before. 3000 square foot house and I get complete coverage inside, as well as my whole back yard, front yard, and even in my metal shed in the back corner of the yard. Buy this!

This is a great wifi system. I ended up putting one unit in each room of my house. Wired them through a network cable and each room has blazing fast wifi. This is my second system that I have purchased to add on to the first existing one.

Got this to add to my linksys mesh network. Easy to add on. My wyze cameras are having trouble connecting well to the linksys mesh network. This seems to be a known issue. I wish I knew this before purchasing as adding towers hasn’t made a difference.

These are ok. A little "clunky" during setup and they don't hand off the connection while roaming through the house. I find that if I go from downstairs to sitting in the living room watching TV and want my phone or Surface to connect at max potential that I have to turn the wifi off and back on again for the device to connect to the best node.

We have tried Netgear Orbi and Google Wifi both were just plagued with issues related to firmware updates causing constant disconnects. Since installing this system our speeds are a little over 600 down on wifi and close to gig via wired.

Easy install. Only took around 45 minutes total to get all three units up and running. Didn’t see a huge boost in speed since my old router has the same speeds but the range and signal strength is much improved.
