Customers enjoy the Velop AC1300 Dual-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 5 System's ease of use, expanded Wi-Fi coverage, and strong signal. Many appreciate the improved range and performance compared to single routers, finding setup straightforward. A common concern, however, is the relatively high cost.

The Linksys Velop Dual-band WiFi is an easy to use and easy to setup WiFi system that is capable of covering a large area and keep consistent speed throughout. With the option of being wired through Ethernet connections it makes for blazing fast speed throughout the whole house or just using the mesh WiFi allows you to extend the range of your WiFi without having to use extenders and the like.

      Hi,

The Linksys Velop system will work with most Internet Service Provider. You can try to swap the Ethernet cable between the modem and parent node, and make sure that the modem has an active internet connection. Should you need assistance, feel free to reach out to us at LinksysCares@linksys.com with the link to this review for our reference.

I used the nodes from this router to expand my existing Velop mesh system. It was so easy to just open the app and add the node. The app has come a long way since it was first released and it is really so simple to use. The speeds are great and set up is so easy. I am very please with Velop mesh system and I couldn't get by without it. Definitely a must buy!

    Mesh WiFi is the future!

I was having issues with the combo WiFi router modem that was provided with FiOS. I tried two different WiFi extenders and would still experience poor WiFi performance. I finally caved in and made a last effort by giving this a try to solve something I have never experienced before... bad WiFi. The initial setup is very easy through the Linksys App and the nodes beautifully designed. I turned off the WiFi in the modem and hard wired one of the nodes in the bedroom (where the modem was), a node in the dinning room and the last one in the garage. After the initial setup, the WiFi range was solid throughout my property and performance was MUCH IMPROVED. Speed test from all locations that I have tried was very consistent. I can say I no longer have a WiFi issue! I am amazed at the whole mesh WiFi system and never would've thought I would need it since I was using high end routers before I had FiOS... I would recommend this basic version if you're just looking to have all around WiFi performance and range at your home. It solved my issues maybe it'll solve yours! Thanks.

      Hi, Robin,

We assure you that the Velop node is capable of providing reliable coverage and range. However, we need to consider physical obstructions like thick walls, electronic appliances, metal objects, and others that might interfere the signal broadcast by the unit. Running the latest firmware is another isolation to reduce latency, maximize throughput, and improve range and signal strength. For thorough assistance, please have our Escalation Engineers contact you. Just shoot us an email at [email protected] along with your contact details and the link to this post for our reference.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

    Great product

I used to have spotty internet connection throughout my house and yard. My house is not that big (1900 sq. ft.; 0.5 acre yard) so I thought it could be because of my the layout. I upgraded my router and service to the max speed and performance offered by mt ISP (FiOS). I still had intermittent internet so I bought 3 wi-fi extenders and although they helped, they could not support the new faster speeds from my upgraded service. Another downside was that I now had multiple different connection names (2 and 5 GHz for each extender and the router). The BestBuy associate recommended this product and now I have only 2 (guest and home) and the speeds have averaged at about 600 GHz (my service allows for up to 980). This includes over 30 devices connected in my network. I am able to stream HD while downloading work files as well as listen to online radio without any glitch. Setting up seemed pretty easy but somehow the 3 routers were having a little trouble communicating but after about an hour of trying everything is working very well. I wish I had known about this before I spent the money on all the extenders. It would have paid for itself and then some. Besides the hiccups connecting (which are probably my fault) I could not be more satisfied with the product. Starting at about $249, I do feel these devices are a bit costly and hope they become more affordable soon. My product is supposed to support at least a couple cycles of technology and speed advancements as it is capable of handling more than my ISP can offer at the moment so the good news is I am likely to get my money's worth and hopefully will not have to upgrade for a while.

Whole Home Mesh WiFi With Linksys

I now have whole home, reliable WiFi thanks to Linksys Velop. Setup was straight-forward (the Linksys App on iOS is perfect - look at the 5 star reviews!). The only fiddling was getting FiOS to work the right way, but a combination of reading some helpful reddit posts and one quick call to the Velop Concierge service and I was all set! WiFi is solid, fast and I am streaming to a Roku TV (via WiFi) in the basement where I only once would have dreamt of being able to do this. Couldn't recommend this highly enough. Other things you might want to know. Each node has an Ethernet port so you can go wired where you need to. Each node also has its own power switch, so you can turn nodes off if you don't need them. The box only comes with 1 ethernet cable to connect to your main modem. Power banks are little 12v plugs, it would be perfect if they were USB powered. The nodes also have a discrete colored light on top which helps you identify them during setup (and diagnose any issues). Seriously recommended. You won't be disappointed.

      Hello Sting,

We may need to look into various factors that are affecting your Velop System's connectivity. These could be the distance of your nodes, the surrounding objects, or an outdated firmware. Let's have our Escalation Engineers discuss this further with you and provide further assistance. Just email the link to this post and your contact details at [email protected].

Simple way to cover your home with wifi

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Pro: easy setup, self adjusting, clean design Con: no usb I purchased this mesh wifi to replace an old 802.11g router, so obviously blinding speed was not my top priority. My home is roughly 3200 sqft and 2 stories (no basement). I had recently added several Roku streaming sticks on TVs scattered around the house and was having trouble getting sufficient signal/throughput to some of the TVs with the old router. My internet is cable (Spectrum) at 200mbps DL. Setup was simple using the Linksys smartwifi app (on Android). I was afraid I would need to place the nodes fairly close together to get adequate signal/throughput, but it turned out that I was able to place the 2nd node at the opposite end of the house from the primary node and the 3rd node went upstairs. Again, blinding speed was not my primary concern, but basic speed test results showed 150+Mbps near the nodes and at 30ft I was getting 85Mbps. More than enough for my needs. I dropped 1 star because I would really like a usb port on at least 1 of the nodes to allow for networked storage.

So far I am pretty impressed with the ease in setup of these devices. The units themselves take a few minutes to setup, but they do pretty much everything by themselves. My previous router was located in the center of my house, with most devices getting sufficient data streams. However two of my gaming consoles(on opposite corners of the house) had choppy coverage, with much slower throughput. I used the Linksys app to set up my Velop WIFI , it guided me through every step, extremely easy to follow. I added all my nodes, to extend my current coverage. *****Keep in mind that the other nodes, work as repeaters to extended good coverage further. If you place the extra nodes at the edge of your current WIFI area, you will only be repeating a choppy poor signal. However if you pull those nodes a little closer to the source, where they are getting a higher quality signal, you will be repeating that high quality signal, and most likely your devices that were previously suffering on your network, should be enjoying a higher quality signal.***** this worked out very well for one of my corner of the house consoles. The other console was still receiving lower speeds. I had placed the nodes in the best available locations based on my houses layout, but there was a stairway in between that was causing a lower connection speed. I was easily able to fix this by prioritizing that console on the network. All I had to do was select this option in the Linksys app, and everything has been fine since, with very consistent speeds. So, if placed correctly, these units can deliver very reliable performance, especially with the added features of the app.
