This really worked great to bring wifi to our 2-story home, however, I really wished they would enable more user control. If you need to extend your wifi into a large home or to handle dead-spots this is a great system, however, it's pricey.

This product has been a game changer in my house. I had a standard wireless router and a wireless network extender before and they made going between floors in my house a chore and an exercise in frustration. I always had to change networks (to the Extended one) every time and broadcast issues, etc. With the VELOP system its all the same network, on every floor and for every device. This purchase was worth every penny!

These worked as described, easy to install/set-up. Provides speeds that I am actually paying for. Took advantage of the Ethernet option on each device since I already had cat5 ran to each location.

We have a larger home and I purchased this product because it had the range we needed. It is more expensive than some of the other systems and I chose it because of the name reputation. It was simple to install with easy to follow instructions. I would purchase this product again.

Was looking at the various options for the Mesh Network for my three story townhome. I have had ongoing problems with coverage with just one wireless point. I have a hardwired Ethernet in the house, but more and more devices are using wifi. I also have Verizon Fios with a MoCa interface with television using their set top boxes. Several options are available for Mesh Networking, but I wanted an ethernet backhaul, true Mesh Network with just one SSID, and MuMimo for a chance at some future proofing. Velop had excellent reviews on the various tech sites and I purchased a set of three. I believe it is important to understand my needs and underlying issues as I discuss what happened with installation and final setup. The box had three devices, power supplies, and an ethernet cable. A card was in the box that said to download the app and follow the directions. Linksys is trying to make this device as simple as possible to install for the everyday consumer. I installed the app on my Moto G4 phone and followed directions. It did not go well. Multiple attempts to setup the devices over the course of the day were unsuccessful. There was no way to log in by hard wire into the devices to set the device up. At least that is what I thought. I called the support number and within a few minutes, a very pleasant young lady worked with me to set the devices up. After 100 minutes of time, using a laptop and remote access through my laptop with Windows 10, she was able to get the three devices up and running. Kudos to her and Linksys’ 3 year warranty and 3 year 24/7 tech support. Now I had the three devices running, but wanted to use the ethernet backhaul. Plugged them into my network and the blue it’s working light changed to red. I had watched the tech support closely and realized that there is a way to access the more sophisticated interface via a browser. I had two networks, double nat and needed the verizon router to provide a guide and on-demand to my set top boxes. I disconnected the fios router from my home wired network and only connected it to the primary Velop router. The 2nd port of the Velop router was then connected to my home wired network. I then entered the fios router and made the Velop router a dedicated address and moved it to the DMZ in port forwarding. This makes the double NAT much less problematic. I then went into the interface of the Velop and changed the WAN port to a static address with appropriate DNS servers and the fios router as the gateway. All the devices in my house except the set top boxes and the Velop were on the Velop network. My various devices and computers had no issues other than being rebooted or reconnected through the wifi interface, but this was a minor issue. The red light changed to blue and the mesh Wifi was up and running with excellent speed test. My other issue is that I have two Slingboxes that my children use to watch TV via the internet when they aren’t in town. This was easily done, by finding the address and port the devices use and creating a port forwarding rule for each. Directions were on the Sling site. This could be done via the app or with the web interface. I also gave them dedicated addresses through the device. This also worked well. Sonos devices needed to be reconnected, but have worked well since. My dell wifi printer needed to be verified with all devices and worked well once old printer drivers were removed so they couldn’t accidentally be used on my Windows 10 computers. So, in summary, the Velop has given me an excellent Mesh Network WiFi with ethernet backhaul and only one SSID for all devices to use. Connectivity has been good and all my devices are working well. The double NAT is not an issue using the DMZ approach and allows you to use the Velop interface on both the GUI on a browser and the app on the phone which works well though is a bit more limited than the GUI. Linksys’ approach with only the phone app is honorable, but at the end of the day may not be the best approach given the variety of different setups that people have in the home. I would recommend Linksys be a bit more open about the web GUI with directions on their website to help setup the various options that people have. A more complete FAQ to help with issues like Verizon Fios should also be made available. Calling for tech support for every problem can be frustrating for the consumer. Overall, I am very pleased with the Velop. It is exactly what they say it is. It is not, however, super easy to setup. The android app appears to be an issue at this time with setup as well. I am uncertain if I would have had the same setup issues if I had used an Apple devie. Most consumers would have just returned the device if they ran into the problems I ran into. So, 5 stars for the device and 3 stars for the setup “simplification.” I am giving it a 5 star rating, because it does work very well and the phone tech support was excellent.

Have tried multiple routers before like net gear, and apple extreme but the Linksys Velop is the best. Easy to connect with the available app, option of extra nodes for extension and terrific performance. Even though expensive this is the router to get. Recommend it highly.

Velop is excellent! Dead-simple setup without ever getting on a computer, fast access in every corner of my house that was previously spotty, reliability (a month in so far) and trivial management and connection of devices from anywhere with your phone. Life-changing!

This was amazingly easy to set up and the coverage is fantastic. The best is that I don’t have to manually switch WiFi connections when I go to different parts do the house! Where I use to switch to connect to an extender. Well worth the investment!

I read reviews, talked to Best Buy employees and even had the teenage “gamer” with me when I purchased these wireless routers. I’m so glad I only sprang for the 2 pack instead of 3. The area for this particular (highest package by Suddenlink available in our area) internet service isn’t large enough to have actually needed the third one. I absolutely hate these routers. They are constantly losing connection. Even when they are 20 obstacle free feet from each other. I was planning on returning them within the week of purchase, but an accident filled month kept me at a bedside in the hospital and then a rehab center. We have lived with the horrific service long enough. Tonight was the final straw. No devices were connected except the TV and we could not even watch a movie on Netflix. Finally hardwired into the modem and watched it on a 17” laptop. Ugh Ugh Ugh!!!!

The Linksys was easy to setup and greatly extends the WiFi coverage that was provided by ‘enhanced’ router-modem provided by ATT. I had to request ATT to remotely turnoff the function on their device in order for the wireless printers to find the Linksys wireless network.

Used to have 3 separate routers to cover my house. It was a biotch to try and bridge them, especially if the main one lost power. These guys cover 3x more space and took less than 10 minutes to install. Worth every dollar.

Purchased a three node system and placed in a 3,400 square foot single level home. Added another node for a total of four as coverage would drop off or completely drop. When using WiFi calling, which I must use due to poor signal strength, the call will drop. Never had this issue with my Nighthawk X-6 but would get beyond the range of the Nighthawk. Even paid to have the Geek Squad come out and check the system and said it was fine. So not sure what the issue is other maybe I should have looked at other mesh systems. Would only recommend if you have the funds to keep adding nodes, looking at adding a 5th one as am in so deep with the existing one that to scrap and start over would be expensive.

I've waited about 3 weeks to make sure I gave this system every chance to work and it just hasn't. I bought the 2-pack for my 2 story, 2500 sq ft home. The setup was very easy and the app was very user friendly. When the system is online everything works great. The speeds are good enough to max out my Xfinity internet speeds of 150 download on many of my devices. I was able to watch Netflix and Firestick without the buffering. Everything was great... but then... The 2nd Node drops off at least 2-3 times a week. I reset the nodes. I even took them offline and restarted like they were new devices to get them back up to speed. I've had to call in to customer service several times, including again last night, as all my devices went offline and were either extremely slow or not working at all. This has happened several times within a 3 week period. After an hour on the phone and some trouble shooting the problem was resolved.. only to go down again about an hour later. As for the app its very inconsistent, which Linksy tech support acknowledged. It will show devices offline that are online and vis versa. It has an option to prioritize 3 devices so they get maximum speed. The problem is when try to disable that function it may not work. The app will automatically prioritize those devices again, on its own, which causes other devices to slow down. It takes multiple times trying to get the app to cooperate which is extremely frustrating. The customer service team is very patient in trying to help overcome the issues, but there is really only so much they can do. My 30 day return window is about up so I have no choice but to return the product. I really wanted it work but it just didn't.
