Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the Velop AC2200 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 5 System's ease of use, coverage, and setup, frequently citing its simple installation and strong signal. Many also praise the system's range and performance, reporting consistently reliable connectivity. However, some users experienced connection issues and noted the relatively high price. A limited number of Ethernet ports was also a recurring point of feedback.

Let me start by saying I was thrilled when I read the reviews on this product and saw the price. When I bought it was $299 and relative to it's competition was a steal. I really wanted to like this. Pros: - Nice packaging and presentation. - Good form factor - Very basic UI Cons: - Extremely slow wired throughput. I had to put this into bridged mode from about a week into my experience as I was only getting about 300mbps on my wired connection. I put an old R7000 in front of this to use as the router and my throughput went up to 850-900mbps on the same other equipment. - Poor wifi performance. I ended up having to wire each of the nodes in on gigabit and even at that the nodes still lose connectivity. I am sitting right next to a node and it has a red light while plugged in. - Very basic UI. Some slightly advanced features are missing. Overall my experience has been quite poor. We have too frequent drops and I really only use this as wireless access points while leaving the heavy lifting to a device which is nearly 10 years old. I would definitely not recommend this to anybody and will be very hard pressed to buy Linksys again. I should have returned this product when I first started having issues but that is a failure on my part.

The Linksys Velop Whole Home Wi-Fi is a fast, attractive home wi-fi system designed to improve and extend existing home wi-fi. The system comes with three 'towers', plugs for each and a cat-6 wire to connect it to a modem--aside from a couple of papers that is it. All of the set-up is done through the linksys app to be downloaded on your phone. It's an interesting idea--your mileage may vary in the convenience of it I suppose. Once you have the 50mb app installed it will walk you through exactly what to do to get your system set-up. It's very easy to set up and the app walks you through how to do it step-by-step. The only issue I had with this is it doesn't detect anything very quickly, and my phone got VERY hot during the install (it's a google pixel so the phone is new and fast). The set-up is much slower than other linksys set-ups I've used due to having to be done over the app (and is the only reason I didn't give it five stars). Once one node is set-up it's easy to add the other two--linksys recommends setting them up where they overlap. Depending on the size of your house this shouldn't be an issue at all due to the range of each "tower." They look nice and are unobtrusive. Certainly nicer looking than most spider-modems anyway. I'm not sure if there's a way to test which "node" you're on at any given time, but everywhere I went with my laptop got me very consistent speeds--the top end of my download speeds no matter where in my house I was. It even extended fairly far into the yard. Setting up your name and password are maybe the easiest things in the app and a nice feature--it's good security and should be more than enough for any neighborhood. Overall if you have a need for a small, attractive network booster/extender then this set-up should be perfect for you.
