I bought this router thinking its what i needed for good coverage in a large home. Upon receiving it and doing further investigating, I realized it was not what I needed so I returned it and bought a one piece unit.

      Hello, peter,

You may consider physical obstructions upon placing the nodes of your Linksys WHW0303 as it is one of the reasons why a certain node will disconnect from the main one. You may try moving it closer from the other node and update us with what you have observed by sending us an email at [email protected] with your contact info and the link of this review, for our reference.

Okay, the price might be a bit much but what you get for it is well worth it. Setup was a breeze for the first and each subsequent unit. A little longer for first then rest. Once all three connected, you have mesh network coverage with 100% speed throughout your home and most of yard, too. Obviously, it depends on house size, but each box supposedly covers 2,000 sq. ft. With minimal overlap, you'll get 6,000 square feet of coverage. Unlike extenders which drop throughput as you hit each repeater, this keeps sped up at the max amount no matter which node of the trio you're connected on. If you keep the same network name and password, you won't have to reset all the devices in your home, too. I wish I had this sooner. Will enjoy the stronger outdoor coverage once the weather gets warming.

Range connection is ok. It loses connection or gets weak from time to time. We have a 2 story 2700sq ft house which this router should easily extend throughout the house. The other thing is the app is great to know if you’re connection is weak, but ultimately the routers should be stronger. I would like to exchange this but since I have a baby, it’s not easy to get back into the store.

Ths was my first shot at a mesh wifi system, I had read reviews here, elsewhere and on sites like cnet and pc magazine. Linksys and Velop have a great reputation, even if this this is a nascent version of the new mesh systems. When I hooked it up, we were very pleased immediately on streaming devices (Roku, Apple TV, Samsung TV's), but noticed throughput issues on our phones. We gave it a week and found that our iphones struggled with downloads and streaming. Also my son found heavy web wiki gaming web pages struggled. So a mixed bag, ultimately had to return because of the issues.

    Seamless Home WiFi Network

I received this product in exchange for a review. From the start, I can say that Linksys took a lot of time putting this system together, from the marketing and packaging all the way to the hardware and software. It’s an impressive set up that provides a lot of power while being easy to setup and use. Setup Linksys has made this extremely simple to set up out of the box. The only prerequisite is that you have an iOS or Android device, because you need the Linksys app. Once you have that installed, getting started is simple. If you haven’t previously used the app, it’ll get you to sign up and add a device. If you already had a previous device, there is a section of the app for adding new devices. Once you get to that point, Linksys has put together step by step visual instruction screens on the app to get the Velop system set up. You start with one of the nodes of the system hooked into your modem. The app must be able to connect to the node via Bluetooth, as I didn’t have to connect to the wireless network to get the device set up. I just had to be physically near it. Once all the configuration completes, you’ll be asked if you want to add more nodes. Since this review is for the 3 node system, you’ll probably want to do that now. But, if you’d like, you can skip it initially and add them later from the app. Setting up new nodes is even simpler, since the network has already been set up. Hardware The system consists of 3 nodes, one of which is the primary access point for Internet connectivity. It has to be connected directly (by an Ethernet cable) to the incoming source of Internet connectivity, which is typically a modem of some sort. Once that is set up, the others only need to be plugged into a power outlet within signal range of another node. The nodes themselves are sleek, white devices about 3 or 4 inches per side and about a foot tall. The power cable connects to a concealed underside that also has a power switch, reset button and two Ethernet cables. Additionally, there is a single LED light at the top in one corner that indicates the status of the node. For the size of the device, I wasn’t expecting a great deal in coverage from an individual device, but I was quite surprised. I placed on on the middle level of a 3 level home and couldn’t find any areas without signal. While the signal would obviously decrease in strength above and below, it wasn’t by as much as I expected. I measured the signal strength with an application on my laptop and it only dropped by about half at the worst. But, with the other two nodes installed, the signal is always strong. I received the full Internet speed I pay for at multiple measurement points across the house and using both fast.com and speedtest.net to gauge the speed. I also noticed that it outputs on multiple wireless channels and frequencies in an attempt to get the best connection to all devices. It’s quite impressive. App Since the app is crucial in the setup and management of the Velop system, I figured I should write about it as well. Other Linksys devices could be managed from LinksysSmartWifi.com, but if you visit that page connected to Velop, you reach a landing page pointing you to the app to work with that system. I’ve used it before with other Linksys routers, so I have a little bit of experience with it. Linksys pushed out an update to the app when the device was first announced so that it would support Velop. They regularly update the app as well, so I expect new features will become available over time. Not only does the app allow you to set up the device, but it allows you to manage your network. The initial page tells you whether your network is Internet connected, how many devices are connected, as well as giving quick links to the wireless password (which can be shared), a toggle switch for the guest network, and links to parental controls and device prioritization. The app has several other pages as well to troubleshoot and configure the network as well as a dedicated “Velop Administration” page. On initial setup, it asks you if you want to automatically download and apply firmware updates, but you can configure it from the app as well. All in all, this is a very good app that Linksys actively maintains and improves. Amazon Alexa Integration One neat side feature this system has is the ability to work with Alexa. Initially, you may wonder why you would need your router to work with a digital assistant like Alexa, but the implementation can actually be helpful. The two commands I know are “Tell Linksys to turn on my guest network,” and “Ask Linksys for my WiFi password.” These commands can be used to help get a new device or guest connected to the Internet in your house without having to go find the password. I imagine they’ll add more features in the future, but this is a great start. All in all, I would highly recommend this system to anyone looking for an easy to use WiFi network for their home or anyone hoping to seamlessly improve WiFi coverage area. This system would work in a home significantly larger than mine with little trouble. I’m very happy with the performance.

While I am not a technical person beyond basic setups and following directions... this set up was really simple but did take me about 2 hrs. I was a little skeptical having to do the setup from my phone but the visuals were great! The 1st node connected quickly with no issues however the 2nd and 3rd took some time. Not sure if the location placement was a problem but I figured it out and we have great coverage throughout the whole house! My husband does a lot of work remotely with many different systems and has noticed a great difference from when we just had the other router hooked up to when I surprised him with this hook up! We have 3 computers, a tablet , xbox and 3 phones hooked up and there is no lag time - great performance!! The packaging of this product was really nice! and the design of the nodes are attractive sitting out on the end table and desk. Looks like a speaker or nice air freshener! Great job with this creation :-) Hope to never have to find a replacement!!

I was excited to set up this network. I replaced a first generation Eero. Set up was not bad. I have a 2500 square foot ranch house with a finished basement. I purchased a Linksys MR8300v1 router and Velop 4 nodes. What a mistake. You would think from the box recommendation that 2 nodes would be enough, however they would constantly disconnect. I would go through the reset procedure and it would ask me to move the node. I have moved them all over the house. Same problem. So I added 2 nodes, big mistake. What a waste of money. Now I have 4 nodes disconnecting instead of 2. I reset the router and nodes last night and as I write this two of the nodes are offline, different then the ones I reset last night. It is incredibly frustrating, especially since I have my security system and cameras in the network. Node goes out, so does the camera. Please save your money, the network is completely unreliable.

Repeated problems with this system inside the first month. One of the nodes keep going offline and after many attempts of resetting it will it come back. Have moved it, plugged into to different locations, etc. Still have repeated "going offline" problems. Contacted tech support twice and spent several hours with no resolution. Problem repeats itself. I asked for a replacement node from Linksys, but they will not without numerous other "troubleshooting steps". I've done all of it twice. I regret buying this brand. Problem probably best solved with acceptance of my lost nearly $400 and moving on to another more reliable product.

The Linksys Velop system was literally the easiest setup of any device I've ever used. I had an existing Linksys Router and simply unplugged it, plugged in the Velop and reset my modem. Setup from opening box to online was less than 10 minutes. The iOS app was easy to use and walks the user along each step. Pros: - The Velop nodes are esthetically pleasing vs. the usual drone looking routers with antennas pointing in all directions. - Setup is a snap - Ease of use of iOS app for setup and maintenance - Blazing fast speeds and covers my 3,000 sqft home with full bars Cons: - Lack of ethernet ports on each node - I have a handful of wired devices and needed to by a switch to support them with the Velop system. - Large head on the power cord, doesn't not play well with my surge protector. - Power cord could be a bit longer The Velop System is the real deal, I would recommend to anyone looking to update their home wifi setup.
