Many also praise the system's range and performance, reporting consistently reliable connectivity. However, some users experienced connection issues and noted the relatively high price. Great mesh router system with effortless setup

The design is pretty slick and the setup was very effortless. It uses the Linksys Smart Wifi app and connects to the routers via Bluetooth. I was able to get the network up and running in about 10 minutes. The modules stand out a bit and are fairly tall. These routers are a tri-band system and I'm able to effortlessly stream 4k content on my network to multiple devices with no hang ups. This system is a little overkill for my 2 bedroom apartment, but with all 3 setup I get strong signal everywhere which is wonderful. For 90% of people these routers will be perfect as they look good, are easy to setup, and offer a good number of options for the moderate power user. There are quite a few advanced routing features available for tweaking your network, but keep in mind that this system is designed to be very user friendly, so don't expect the fine grained control you find in something like the WRT series. Unfortunately, like most mesh network routers, there are no USB ports so you can't plug in your hard drive or flash drive to act as a shared network storage device. This isn't a huge deal, but something to factor into your decision if it's something you require. An Amazon Alexa skill will eventually enable the ability to turn on and off the guest network along with speaking your router's password. I wasn't able to test this, but assuming it works well it will be a very handy feature.

Terrible, Terrible, Terrible. Had this systems for about 18 months. Very expensive and very UNRELIABLE. It drops your Wi-Fi in the middle of everything... System is wired (means nodes are hardwired). All the sudden in the middle of the day, with no reason, Wi-Fi is down. Firmware is updated, etc. Nearly $450 wasted. I will go back to an old router.

Set up was easy but speed dropped from 900 mbs to like 8 with this router.... called my service provider and they sent a tech out...I have fiber 1gig speed. Turns out the Ethernet cord that came with the router was bad.

I ended up returning this router mesh system due to the fact I was getting very low speeds compared to my previous system. I tried to set it up in different ways to fix this problem, but I decided it was the product and not the software. I ended up going with the Google Wifi mesh instead.

      Hi, Maggie,

We'd like to know how the Velop was set up as there's no need to use Ethernet cables to connect the Node to each other, only the parent Node should be wired to the modem. For further assistance, please send us an email at [email protected] along with your contact information and a link to this review as our reference. Reasonable performance, can't say I was blown away by the speed improvements - but likely down to my broadband provider., Set up was not easy at all. Old firmware and no automatic check for updates feature essentially meant i was on the phone with Linksys doing a manual update for 1.5 hours.

    Awesome System, Set-up and Coverage

Routers have come a long way since I set up my first, geeky-looking unit years ago. However, the latest advances seem to be a quantum-leap. The Linksys Velop Whole Home WiFi System is a prime example. I got the 3-piece complete system. • The packaging is very attractive and well thought out and impressed me before I even began setting the system up. • Setup was the smoothest I have experienced: Get the App (iOS or Android), Unplug the old router, plug in a Velop unit and use the App to walk you through the 2 steps needed to get it online. What that involved was clicking the 'continue' button twice! Oh, and also indicating what room in the house that particular unit is in. • Once the first unit has been setup, you place your other units in appropriate places, plug them In and, once again, use the App for set up. For the additional units, the set up includes an evaluation of whether or not the location is optimal or not. After indicating the room they are each in, you're done. • A smooth, simple setup is great, but what about function? The Velop system promises to deliver optimum speed at each location and I found the speed constant and very fast. • The Linksys App is also a step up from previous versions. Very easy to work with, adjust settings, apply controls, prioritize devices, etc. • The Velop nodes also have a nice look for being set up where they can be seen. You wouldn't identify them as routers without prior knowledge. • The Velop system is not cheap, but it is solidly in line with comparable systems. It does not offer USB connectivity. However it does offer Bluetooth capabilities and will work with Amazon's Alexa. The only other consideration is that you must use the iOS or Android App to set the unit up. The bottom-line is that this is an excellent system that delivers on it's promises and represents the best of the new breed of wifi systems.

Everything is done in the app, which at first seems super easy, and the first connection is easy. Then when you are trying to set up the nodes, its doesn't connect. There is no way to try and do it manually. At one point I had the 2 nodes physically touching and the app said that they could not locate the additional node to connect to the network. The help line is no help, as you just wait on hold for a very extended amount of time.
