When it works it’s great.
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The nodes tend to disconnect often, coverage is fair. I’ve had better success with a single access point. I would not recommend. The app is lacking, have always enjoyed Linksys products it’s a hard pass for me on this one.

Posted .Hi,
The Linksys app allows you to monitor and manage your Linksys Velop system. For isolation, you can try to use the channel finder on the app, and make sure to update the firmware of the Velop nodes to optimize your Velop system.

Good for ping; bad for consistency.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ended up having to contact customer service to set this thing up because it didn't play well with my new modem, which I replaced after it didn't play well with my old modem. It works well for reducing ping in my office, but doesn't keep a reliable connection. I'm finally breaking down and leaving this negative review after I lost connection for the third time in three or four days. Prior to this streak, it was maybe once or twice a week that the signal would drop, which was already frustrating enough. No amount of "turning it off and back on again" has proven fruitful in the last 3-4 months.

Super unreliable product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.working from home requires a reliable network. My 1gb service connected directly to the mac delivers about 90% consistent throughput. But, I made the mistake of buying Linksys from Best Buy. Linksys support actually told me they would not stand behind a Best Buy purchase. If I were BBY, I'd dump these clowns and focus on higher quality products. I'm stuck with Linksys and would sell on eBay, however, the quality is sub-optimal and I don't feel I can pass this on to another human. Electronic waste!

Not the best for a large home
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was not what I felt was advertised and explained to me by the worker, though he was very helpful and was explaining exactly how Linksys explains it. I don't feel the signal is as strong or has the range advertised.

Not worth it
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These were worthless. The devices on the side of the house that needed the extended range would never connect to these. They were still showing as connected to the primary route and this didn’t work any better. There was no way to manually force them to connect to the nodes. Returned after a week.

Not for us
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Apparently due to the old house the nodes needed to be close to each other, which defeated the purpose for getting them. Couldn't return them so there went a good chunk of money down the drain. Bought a nighthawk instead.

Node dropping
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this end of October and so far in 15 days I have noticed that every other day one of the node shows offline in Linksys app and the only way to bring it back is rebooting that node. I called BestBuy support who were also unable to help with it and requested me to replace the hardware. I'm waiting for it to be available in the store near by since I have store pickup, online support is unable to help.

||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This monument to engineering wet dreams should have been shelved right along with that other beauty the ORBI. ORBI and VELOP should get married, and then go on a long honeymoon together. I know the kook squad or geeksters can stand up for them. These guys want a hundred bucks to help you install hardware that is plug and play right out of the box. They even make you wait on hold for 23 minutes to confirm you were an idiot for buying an overpriced product in the first place. The VELOP was supposed to be better than the ORBI. Well golly it works, but it denigrates an already garbage system from AT&T. Download and upload speeds did not get better, THEY GOT WORSE!!!

Paradigm shift
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to get my head around the fact that this is a whole new way to bring wifi home. I got so used to my old infrastructure approach, and I've been so spoiled with the simplicity of an MIMO system, that I first fought with Velop for hours trying to get it to play nice in my existing network. When I gave up and decided to follow the directions, the install went okay. It was still a bit slow to get started, but now it's pretty solid. There's almost no transparency to the setup; I don't know what the devices are doing when they connect to the internet or to eachother, but it works. Not as instantly as the instructions make it seem, but maybe I confused the devices by re-using my existing wifi name and password. Make it easy on yourself and just make a new wifi name rather than try to use your existing one. Way easier. The setup process is way more centralized than device-based, so when you add another device you add it to your existing network using the mobile app. Velop can't be managed in the web interface. Each station has two Ethernet ports; they are used as the internet input as well as act as a bridge for non-wifi stuff. It does that auto-magically with no additional configuration. The performance seems good. The internet speed isn't as good as my previous router (Linksys wrt3200acm) but for most people, the ease of setup and the range will make up for that. It's really nice that it's seamlessly one network all over the house. I think this is going to be the best choice for most people who have multiple devices and move about the house.

NOT as Advertised
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchase this to extend my range of my Linksys router since I have a three level home. Nothing is different and I will be going back to Best buy so they can help me figure out why I have more buffering now with their latest Linksys router and Alexis message system and a terabyte of Verizon service. I'd hate to think PC magazine and all the other magazines that review tech products were right about Linksys and how their mesh system is overpriced and it drops packets and is not top of the line. I am so disappointed so far hope to upgrade this soon.

Great speeds and performance!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Linksys Velop wifi system has been performing great for about one week now, and have found it to be an amazing system. It comes with three tower nodes (one is ethernet connected and the others via wifi) that look great, and are very compact. They blend in perfectly with pretty much any home decor and look very elegant. Everything that you need to get the system up and running is included. The setup was a breeze, as is with pretty much any Linksys product. I really like their app, which makes it even easier to set this system up. It has a feature that will let you know the perfect placement of each tower to insure the best performance and speeds, so no need to guess there. Setting up the towers in different rooms around your house is probably the most time consuming part of the process, as it is pretty much a plug-and-play system. I've got plenty of wifi enabled devices connected to this system and have not had any issues with connectivity and speed. Many of these devices run simultaneously and the Velop system has had no issues handling them all. What I really love about this system is that it has given me the ability to have an even stronger wifi system in my home's detached garage. I set one of the towers there, and am now able to enjoy streaming music while I turn wrenches in there. The only downside to this system is the power supply for the towers. They are a bit bulky and will be difficult to plug in if you have furniture that is close to your outlets. Other than this minor inconvenience, I can't complain about this system. It is working great and truly delivers great speeds to all of my devices. I would highly recommend the Linksys Velop system to anyone, especially if you have a big home.

2 yrs of horrible speeds
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this system when it was one of he top 2 systems in the market. I have a 1000mbps and the system has never been able to produce consistent speeds throughout my house. I have added nodes. I have rebooted the system a thousand times. Nothing. At any one time I have 2-3 noses offline. Do not buy this system. It has been a nightmare and the only reason that I have never dumped it is because of the high cost I put into it. Well...I am done. It does not work. In fact the Linksys system is not even in the top 5 list on mesh networks anymore. I wonder why? :(. I will move on to Google or Amazon.

Posted .Hi Tammy,
A single node is capable of providing 2,000 square feet of Wi-Fi coverage, so having 3 nodes should be powerful enough to your needs. Aside from the placement of each node, there might be other factors why your Velop System is not working properly. Please send us the link to this post at [email protected] along with your contact details. We'll have one of our Escalation Engineers contact you and sort this out.

Very Good Mesh Home Wi-Fi for large homes
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: The three nodes (one acts as a router, the other two as extenders) will cover very large homes in reliable Wi-Fi without the bandwidth carving of wireless extenders. Up to 6,000 square feet. Easy to setup with a smartphone/tablet app that uses Bluetooth to talk to the nodes during setup. This process is long, but you only have to do it once. Uses one network name (SSID) / Password for both 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz and handles switching between the nodes by your Wi-Fi devices seamlessly. Not much to configure for those who just want reliable Wi-Fi in a large home, and don't care about a lot of technical settings/control. Automatically updates the firmware if needed at night. Cons: Can only use the App to configure and setup. No advertised way to use a web browser on computer for settings. Promised Amazon Alexa voice control is not available at launch Does not have USB ports on the nodes for printers/hard drives. Cannot control a lot of optimization of your wifi/LAN due to limited app, i.e. cannot set DNS servers, cannot shift DHCP IP ranges. Cannot use in Access Point (AP) mode off another established router. Only two Ethernet ports on each node (one available on node used as router or Parent node) so limited wired connections (can use a separate gigabyte switch wired to one of the two Ethernet ports to add more connections). As always, the updates from new firmware and App updates in the first 6 months of a Router Product launch will round out its features/useability. Looking forward most to the Amazon Alexa voice control to turn on/off the guest network, and even say out loud what the guest SSID and password is. Compared to a NETGEAR Orbi system, this is a MESH topology

Initial Installation with Comcast Xfinity Modem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was up and running in under an hour with the entire system. Key to success is first disabling the Xfinity WIFI router (directions online or tech team can do in minutes - I called). Setting up was easy. Had to go through the process on the initial device twice. Also helps to know that Comcast uses a PPoE approach cause on second time you get to pick if not auto on the first attempt. Setting up node 2&3 was very easy. The Linksys APP walks you through the process for each one. Nice to be able to name my own network and password. Key thing to know is when you turn off wifi on your comcast modem/router, ethernet ports 2-4 become disabled. If you use them for other devices then you need to add a ethernet splitter and plug it into one of your nodes. As a result I had to put my first node near the original modem. I have 4K SQ Foot home - coverage throughout. Was getting 90 MBPS download from the farthest point. Linksys Velop has only 1 Wifi Address, One Password, each cube has an ethernet jack. Great for coverage, wifi cell phone calling as there are no "hand-offs" from a wifi device, to wifi extender with different name. I am pleased on the first day - will check back if my opinion changes. This is the best product out there.

Router Device installation failure
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installation, with Linksys customer service help, took more than 8 hours and router never worked. I requested level 2 support but they would not connect me with a more experienced c/s tech. A complete failure and time wasted about 8 hours over 2 days. I would NOT recommend Linksys due to terrible tech support and poor quality install/setup application [windows 10 and android tablet both required, and both failed multiple attempts]. [I exchanged for another brand which required 25-35 min to complete successful install. ASUS Router working perfectly for mutiple security and computer devices.]

good concept, poor execution
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.mesh wifi is a good idea, but the unit never transferred to the next node. I was 10 inches from one of the nodes, and I was still connected to the furthest node. I went to the regular router with some extensions. I would retry if they got the kinks out of the system.
