      Hi, DMan14,

It’s unfortunate that you already returned the nodes as we could’ve had our Escalation Engineers help you look into the challenges. There are several ways to improve the overall performance of the nodes that our team could’ve shared if only given a chance.

Moreover, we respect your decision, but do note that we’re just here at LinksysCares@linksys if need you help with a Linksys product. We’ll gladly lend you a hand.

Easy set up. Fast speeds. I actually like having the set up through the app. It was very comparable to the Netgear Orbi for speeds. I was very impressed with the network and how easily my devices connected. It worked in all corners of my house which had been a problem before I installed this device.

Just don’t buy this one. I don’t know what else to say other than I just straight up does not work. I consider myself a pretty tech savvy person and this greatly disappointed me. I thought I could handle any technological speed bumps to make this work at optimal performance but I was wrong. It’s just a bad product

I always wait about 6 months to post technology. Worked great for 100 days. Then it started kicking me off and back on for a few days. Called tech support x 3 times. Spent at least 6 hours on the phone. Finally, they said it was motum and to call spectrum to get new. Plugged it in and all is well. I suggest only keep for 60 days and send back. Not worth the money if it’s good for a 100 days. I wouldn’t buy.

      Hi, Stauf,

Setting the Velop Mesh System on a wired Access Point/Bridge mode will disable some of its major features (including Parental Controls, Device List, Speed Check, Device Prioritization, and Wi-Fi MAC Filters). We could have one of our Escalation Engineers look into this matter and do further adjustments. Pricey but probably worth it

First the pros. Installed a 3-pack in a 4000 square foot residence (basement plus two floors). One unit at each end of the first floor, one in the middle of the second floor. This gives 100% coverage of the entire house. We now get the full rated ISP speed of 100Mbs or better down everywhere. Even on downlevel 802.11n equipment. Previously, full speed was only available via wired connection direct to the cable modem. The system is mechanically easy to install. Step by step instructions in the mobile app are clear, although the app itself has problems. Predictably, installation of the master unit did require me to reboot the cable modem. Installation process made me wait through a lengthy failed attempt to "find my modem" before asking for the reboot. And I missed the opportunity to install the 3rd unit because of problems with the app. That was recoverable. Otherwise, installation went smoothly and probably took less than 45 minutes. The management functionality is adequate, but minimal. You can manage the guest network. You can reserve DHCP leases for devices like printers and media servers. Did not explore parental controls, but the options appear to be fully blocking a device or blocking individual sites by name. It is possible to configure port forwarding. And to filter WiFi MAC addresses. There is no control of the stateful firewall or of settings related to VPNs (although IPSEC passthrough is enabled by default). There is somewhat more control from the web UI if you can find it. Cons. The system requires me to establish an online account where it apparently stores my e-mail address, SSID, WiFi pass phrases (main and guest), AND the local router admin password. If you're the kind of person who can unlock your front door from the Internet, you'll be thrilled. If you don't like having your info available to every hacker on 7 continents, not so much. Minor downside to the hardware: Only one wired "output" network port on the main unit. If you were taking advantage of multiple ports on your old router, you will need a switch. OTOH, each remote unit has two available network ports for wired devices at those locations. This is handy. The iPhone app is awful. During installation, it froze for 5-10 seconds between steps almost every time. The Next button was visible, but tapping it produced NO visual feedback and no obvious effect. Tapping repeatedly is what caused me to incorrectly answer no to "install another unit" for the third unit. Online/offline status of connected devices is almost never correct. Most attempts to configure the guest network, or to turn it on or off, fail after a lengthy timeout. App reports failure to "restart your WiFi". As far as I can tell, the operations themselves worked. Never observed an actual restart, even on the rare occasions when there was no failure message. Otherwise, it's just generally clunky and hard to use. Its functionality is minimally adequate. The web UI, once you find it (deep, dark secret), is much easier to use, has somewhat more functionality, and is apparently more reliable. However, it also reports incorrect online/offline device status. AND its speed test is garbage. Bottom line: Excellent speed, excellent coverage, easy to install. Fortunately, you won't need the mobile app much, if at all, once you have it set up.

      Hi, JSPA1,

If you're having an intermittent connection behind the Linksys WHW0303, then physical obstructions may be one of the reasons for it. You may try running its channel finder feature, and make sure to use the updated version of the Linksys App, and check if the same concern appears. Great router...far better than expected. After years of thinking it was our internet service that was poorly performing, I finally invested in an excellent router. What a difference! We have a big house on a double lot on a hill and we could never get full house coverage on both floors with previous routers, even with a NetGear Nighthawk 4S AC2600. So I decided to up the investment and bought the tri-pack Velop ($449). Well, we only need 2. So I'll be exchanging it for the double pack ($349). Even the picture and sound seem much better on the Apple TV and with no need to have the wired connection like before. It's super easy to install with the mobile app with hardly any need for cords. The mobile app is great for updates as well. We are getting 100-110MB consistently which is the max of my plan on Wave Broadband. The lowest speed anywhere, which had little to no reception before, is consistently 35-60mB. Very attractive and high quality router.

Frustrating setup. It took several calls to the help center to get the system running. I spent ten infuriating months moving the routers to different locations to get the routers to mesh properly. In spite of the app assuring me everything was okay, I constantly lost contact with the internet. I absolutely would not recommend this product

I’ve had the system for just over a year and it’s been nothing but trouble. One node continues to drop out at least 1-2 times per week (tried several different locations all with in range) and another node drops out a couple times a month. Also, not having the ability to select 2.4 or 5 on your device is a huge drawback. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this mesh system.

From the moment that you open your Linksys Velop system you know that you just purchased a great product. The system comes very nicely packaged and very easy to remove from the box. Inside you will see a hand out that tells you to download the Linksys App and you are on your way. Once you have the app, it only took me 30 minutes to set everything up. The app is very user friendly and was helpful in setting up the system. Once all of the nodes were set up, that is when the magic begins. I previously had a Linksys EA9500 which provided pretty good signal strength throughout my 3200 sq ft. home, but when many products were being used, inevitably one of the devices would struggle. With the Velop system, all of my family's products are receiving a strong wi-fi signal and none of the 12 devices in my home are lagging. I have had some pretty good routers, but this is hands down the best one! I would highly recommend it for a good size home with many connected devices.

So, I have a 4400 square foot tri-level home where my internet connection is literally set up in one corner of the home (at least on the main floor). This can be problematic, even with a powerful tri-band router, when trying to get good connection speeds on the top floor or lower level, especially when on the opposite side of the home. I had no signal on my back porch at all. So, I was excited to try the Velop system (I have the three pack). Set up was easy, using the phone/ipad app, and I had each of the three identical units placed and hooked up within 20 minutes. So, here's the good. I have my full download/upload speed of 30 Mbps available (measured using the speedtest app on my iPad) in every room in the home. In real world application, this seems accurate, as I can easily stream content, including 4K video, in each room without a hiccup. I also have a decent signal extending out to my driveway, let alone to the back deck. That has been awesome, and a HUGE improvement over the single router setup. So, here are the flaws. First, each of the towers only has two ethernet ports. So, in my office, where the service comes into the home, one of those ports is obviously taken by the line in. So that leaves only one port to left, where before I had hard-wire connections to a network printer, backup drive, and my computer. So that is a little limiting. I was able to connect the computer over wifi easily enough, but the printer keeps dropping off the network when using wifi, so that has been a bit of an issue. The other drawback- which is huge for me- is that I rely on wifi assist to allow me to make and take cell phone calls in my home, where I have spotty cellular service at best. I had no issues with my previous wifi router, but now I find it hard to get my phone to recognize and use wifi for calls. If I toggle the setting for wifi assist off and back on, it works for a while, but then quickly seems to drop off. I'm not sure why this would be an issue with this particular system- my previous router was a Linksys model and it was seamless- but if it is as important to you as it is to me, you may want to wait and see if there is a firmware or software update that might fix this problem. All in all, if you have a large space where you find speed lacking in areas at the edge of your router's reach, this is an awesome system. The good outweighs the bad for me at this point, and once I can get the wifi calling assist working reliably, this will have been the best upgrade I've done in years.
