Finally!! I have wifi throughout my entire townhouse!!! I love this product!! Pros Easy to set up! I have an excellent signal with 150+ download and 12 upload in every corner of my house!! Finally I can use my iPad in my bedroom on the 3rd floor!! Cons The only issue I have is the lack of of Ethernet ports.. i have a security system and in order to use Plex and my media server, I had to buy a switch.. this isn't a huge deal to me.. only $39 extra. All in all easy to set up, great coverage and super fast!! I can use the speed I pay for!!

This item does not work. There are only a few steps and right away it couldn’t even find the router. Every other device in the house connects to the router just fine. It then suggests calling customer support but they won’t answer and you’re stuck on the automated system. Avoid this product.

      Hi, Bondasteri,

Setting up the Velop system should be easy as you only need to hardwire the parent node to your modem or modem-router and run the setup through the Velop app. To isolate, you can try to connect the Ethernet cable to a different LAN port on the router and on the Velop node.

For further assistance, please send us an email at [email protected] with your contact details and the link to this review for reference and, we'll have our Escalation Engineers assist you further with the setup.

    Best wireless mesh router

This is a review is for the Linksys Velop 3-pack. I have replaced my router to try this one. First and foremost, you need to download the Linksys app to setup this device and the entire process is fairly easy. The app also guides you as to how far or too close the additional units are so that you can place them at optimal distance. I wish there was also an option for traditional web setup like the other routers. The design of these units look good, like a tall speaker and blends well with anything on the table. This becomes a wireless mesh router by using multiple units similar to Google WiFi and Eero. Each unit supports triband wireless technology. You setup one as your router and the remaining two are like extenders. If you prefer, you can connect the units with network cable to eliminate any wireless loss. You can add more units if you have a bigger place or you think the 3 units doesn't cover your entire house. The base of each unit has two ethernet ports, a reset button, AC adapter pin and an ON/OFF switch. The router has a small light on top of the unit to indicate the status. The first unit's ethernet port is connected to the modem. I am sure you can use a switch if you need more ethernet ports, although I haven't tried that part yet. The unit has a small hole at the bottom of the base where all the cables can be routed through which makes the wire management neat. It comes with Amazon Alexa integration for voice commands to control the network. I with Linksys would add more choices like Microsoft Cortana or Apple Siri so that users will have the option to use with their existing home automation assistant. The speeds have been blazing fast and the connection is reliable pretty too. Overall, this is a pretty good system and I have been happy with this so far. This maybe my preferred mesh router system over the others.

I'm going to try and remain positive in this review. Essentially I didn't like the device at all. But I'm not the target audience. The target audience is for those who have little interest in being engineers and simply want to plug'n'play. Unfortunately for me I simply wasn't able to just plug'n'play. From an engineering perspective this is simply a wonderful idea. One SSID, multiple devices building a mesh enabling your tablets, phones, etc to easily jump from point to point as needed with zero consumer involvement. Who wouldn't want something like this?? It took me quite some time to get the first node up. I went through the Linksys app of connecting and disconnecting routers and so on. I had to reset the node multiple times as it would keep failing to connect on the first, second, and even third pass through. I decided I needed a little break and opted to pick up where I left off in the morning. The next day it fired up immediately with no problems. Who knows what the deal was the night before. Once I got the first node online so easily I thought "this is going to be smooth sailing". Boy was I wrong. I went into the adjacent room and placed another node in the kitchen about 35 feet away. The app informed me this wasn't close enough. I then moved the node to the arch between my kitchen and living room, which was approximately 25 feet from the first node and it too wasn't close enough. It was at this point I decided to pause on adding more nodes and simply test the functionality and features of the router itself. It's armed with the most basic feature set. There's no way to alter your IP configuration that DHCP uses. I hope you like using 192.168.1.x. There's no way to set up a dynamic DNS service. There's no way to use a service like OpenDNS rather than your ISP. Put simply, all the advanced functionality is stripped out and you're left with a device that is made for entry level consumers who simply want to turn it on and walk away. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. There are scores of consumers who want this sort of technology. It's simply not for me. I have far too many advanced needs in my home network. To conclude. I'm uncertain why I was being given such a hard time with connecting the nodes. One would think 25 feet would be no problem. Nevertheless, I've heard of others who had no trouble whatsoever getting it to work at that distance. I have a lot of WiFi interference around me so it's possible that was a culprit. I think this would be a great device for those who simply want to turn it on and have it work. It's ideal for those in really large homes. No 2000 sq ft home is really going to need a device like this. If we're talking about much larger multi-story or basement type homes then I could see this being a huge benefit. As of now, I am not recommending this to my tech savvy friends.

      Hi, GrizzlyD,

There are a few and easy configurations that has to be done to get the Velop system up and running. You could be right that the interruptions were due to interferences but we'll definitely have our Escalation Engineers help you get the other nodes up and running. As for the other features that you've mentioned like changing the IP address range which can be done, the team can also provide you with the details. Please email us at LinksysCares@linksys.com with your phone number and the link to this post or you can give us a call anytime at 800-986-0518.

These are a bunch of junk. The idea is great and they started out ok, but constantly drop signal despite having a reliable feed. Terrible product that should not be purchased by anyone. Oh and their support is next to nothing. I purchased a terrible product and they won’t do anything to help other than have me sit on hold or DM their twitter account.

I'm not a tech person, so I struggled with installation. It went back to the store after being on hold with Linksys tech support two different times for two hours each time - being told how much they value me as a customer without ever picking up the phone. It might be a great product, but I ran out of time and patience trying to figure that out.

This is the easiest WiFi setup I have ever done. The only catch is it requires access to the Linksys App. I had already used the app before for a previous Linksys product, so it was easier then it would have already been. I can also say that the setup wasn't instant. Follow all the steps carefully and you too can have a home WiFi network in minutes. I do recommend that when you are done with setup, run the channel optimizer. It made my great coverage even better.

I was shopping around for a new router and had used another Linksys that I was happy with. However, we moved to a much larger house and I was concerned with getting a strong signal. The Velop was extremely easy to set up and the app is really user friendly. The guys at Linksys made this foolproof to set up. I have had really smooth, fast and consistent coverage around my house. I love the option of being able to prioritize with devices get the signals first. We are extremely happy with this product.

This was great for the first month then 1 velop quit working. I’ve tried everything to reset it and the whole system. I’ve spent hours trying to fix it, paid a network guy to come out and he said 1 of the devices was bad. Tried to get Linksys to send me a replacement and they wouldn’t. Awful service and awful product.
