I do not recommend if you have spectrum. Disconnected constantly

The Linksys Velop is definitely pretty stylish and cool. That I was going to place three devices around the house bumped up the requirements on that end and the velop delivered. The mechanical design is well thought out and the cable hiding/managing features are a nice touch. It looks good and doesn't disturb the space to which it is added. Setup was a breeze. Download the app, run through the steps for each velop. The process seemed to be slow for each one - you'd think given that the app could use wifi, it could establish a much faster connection and configure each device faster. Then after the initial configuration came a firmware update - though that wasn't too big a deal. Now, to try it out. So, in my home, there are two main areas of spotty reception. I currently have a router that supports 802.11n on one radio, and 802.11ac on another. My TV in the living room uses 802.11n, but for some reason, loses connection to the router every few weeks. My bedroom, on a different floor, has a scale which also uses the 802.11n band, but other devices typically connect on the ac one. That said, throughput to the bedroom sucks and 802.11n connectivity in the bedroom is really spotty. Essentially, the scale is in it's particular location in part because that's the best spot for it to retain a network connection. The scale loses it's connection on a weekly basis. So, in the living room, my TV had no problems connecting to velop. My streaming experience was unchanged. Surfing on my laptop, phones, tablets all just as good. The major benefit seemed to be that I had a dependable network that wouldn't disappear every couple weeks randomly. That said, the performance and connectivity was the same as when my current system (cheaper by half when brand new compared to the velop) works. Next, the bedroom test. So, 802.11 connectivity is great everywhere which is an awesome improvement. . . .but actual throughput - horrible. While I can get a network connection, I can barely do anything with it. The scale seems happy enough, but phones and laptops the crawl at a snail's pace. I see better coverage to the basement, so velop gets the advantage for coverage there. A high definition stream shows the more consistent connection with the velop where the old router would result in my streaming app stuttering slightly once or twice in a show to buffer. So, my conclusion, this is good at what it does, but may not necessarily solve tough connectivity problems. It's a nice design, looks great, but the price to benefit ratio by comparison to performance routers at half the costs cause me to withhold a fourth star.

I have a 3500 sf home and my speaker upstairs connected to WiFi constantly craps out

Very disappointed with Velop system. Had it installed by Geek Squad and twice in the first week I lost the signal. Spent an hour with TTS on the phone the first time to get it reconnected and the second time they told me to call Lynksys because they couldn't fix it. I returned the system to Best Buy and now use the free Spectrum router with no issues.

I would return these if i wasn’t out of date of return policy. I have to restart them all the time. The nodes keep disconnecting once a day. I have you tube tv. It’s always buffering now. I had an old time capsule that I never had a problem with. I have a 1500 sf house. There definitely not worth the money

I didn’t like it’s performance. The orbi and ASUS ai mwah works much better and they’re faster

I do not recommend these. Setup was a pain because that third node is a rebellious one. Had to start the whole thing over from scratch. Then one done, my internet speed was SLOWER than my old Apple AC single tower setup. Returned it the next day. If only Apple continued to make theirs.

Not the best quality. I’d stay away from this item

Less than a year old and the ethernet direct through the first velop is losing 3/4 of my wired speed, wifi is fine. I speak to the Linksys rep and I cannot freaking understand what she is saying. They need to hire people who actually know English. I am disgusted. Will NEVER buy another Linksys product.

My home has 2 stories and a basement. We have always had trouble with Wi-Fi reception throughout the house, especially trying to run multiple devices at one time such as laptops, smart TV's , smart DVD's, printers, tablets, and smart telephones on our network at once. I do not know if getting internet from a rural telephone cooperative has anything to do with the quality of internet signal wired to the home. At any rate, we received this package directly from Belkin 2 days ago and just installed it today. I am deducting one star because what should have been an easy installation was not. My son downloaded the app to his Samsung android smartphone and when we got to the part where it was trying to connect to Linksys, it sat for over an hour doing nothing-not connecting nor stopping. So, I Goggled Linksys' technical support telephone number and contacted them. To start with, the call went offshore which I do not like since there are often communication issues. They said this was their top of the line product and referred us to that area. That area did start troubleshooting with my son by having him disconnect all of the towers except the home one that is hardwired to the router. They said they would call back in 15 minutes to see if it finally connected to their website for installation. They did call back, but it did not connect. I am not sure if it was the ISP of their site not being correct or compatible with us, but they had to work on transferring our download from their site working with a different ISP number. They did finally resolve the connection issues, but from beginning to end it took about 2 1/2 to 3 hours of time. The first part was when it initially tried to connect before we even called them. Then we were on for at least 15-30 minutes between the initial information getting at department one and department two who finally got it done. Then we waited the 15 minutes to see if it would connect before they called back and then another hour or so to finally get a good ISP to download to the home tower from their site. Eventually all towers were hooked up and operational. Now, to the results. My son put a tower in his room on the second floor in the extreme southeast corner of the house. He had a laptop, smart TV, smart DVD, smart phone, tablet, etc. He had wanted me to get his room hard wired to our router through wiring through the attic, but that would be labor intensive and costly. After the installation, he was able to run many devices and have several pages open at a time without constant buffering and very slow internet transitioning from one site to another. Since we have not been using this item for long, I do not know if I can update this review as time goes by if not so great things start happening, but I will try to so. I already got an email from Best Buy to post a review even though I just got the goods and it wound up taking a good amount of time to get it running. One last thing, this product does not come with an operations manual, but rather you have to go on to their website and look up technical briefs. One of the questions I asked my son and need to investigate is whether or not you can disconnect one of the two portable towers from electric power and reposition it somewhere else without having to reinstall or reconnect to the home tower wired to the router at where your internet cones into the home.

I purchased this system in hopes that it would reach out to our lake. Unfortunately, it did not work.

First impression: Nice presentation, the box looks great easy to open with the magnetic closure, opens right to the three stands all the accessories are off to the side. Easy setup with the app you can download on either iOS or Android. Performance: I had no issues with setup. It worked just fine for my space. I like how compact each stand is. I would have liked maybe a sleeve with different color options to put on so it can match your home or personality. I have a different whole home Wi-Fi system that I have been using for awhile, I prefer my original to the velop only for looks. But it's a good back-up if my other system breaks. The 3yr warranty is a plus.

They to hard to stay connected with out calling for support it’s to time consuming

I have a large home with basement and wanted a system that would provide WiFi coverage to my whole home. This system works great and it also covers most of my yard which is around an acre. The speed drops off when I a bit from the house. I am glad I purchased with no regrets. They also have free technical support if needed. I called and they help me set up as I wanted each node connected using Ethernet cable, which is not needed, but it does help provide a bit more speed then just using the units alone.

Piece of sh**. I purchased this setup for my parents. One of the nodes on my first pair was defective. Swapped it out for a new set. Three months later, one of the nodes died. Save your money and buy another setup.

Easy set up but did not boost wifi to areas needed!

I COULD NOT GET IT TO WORK, I CALLED LINKSYS PUBLISHED HELPLINE AND THE PEOPLE I SPOKE WITH WALK ME THROUGH THE STEPS BUT IT STILL WOULD NOT WORK. I ENDED UP RETURNING IT TO THE BEST BUY IN HIGHLAND INDIANA!

The signal was great throughout my 6500 sq ft home but the WiFi speed was terrible. I was getting 25 down 4 up on a 400/25 package. Tried all kinds of different things even had a linksys rep remote in and change some settings to no avail. Returned and got the orbi Ac300 which kills this system.

This review is for the "Linksys - Velop Tri-Band Whole Home Wi-Fi System (3-pack) - White." The concept of "wrapping" the web around my home intrigued me and really made sense. I wondered why this would be any different than extending the web. I also wondered if it would actually make a difference from what I already owned. High speed internet in my area is only 10 mps. I read about others getting speeds of 180 mps and some considering that slow. So I wondered if The Velop system would even matter in my situation. Speed is not the issue here, consistency and simplicity are. The product arrived packaged extremely well. I could tell quickly that I had a quality product in front of me before I even opened the box. There are not any instructions other than having access to an Android or an IOS vehicle to download the Velop app. I downloaded the app and followed the directions. l took the first "node" (the name for an individual tower) and disconnected my current router and ran the line from the modem to the node. I plugged in the node and turned it on. I was following each one of these steps as they appeared on the app using my cellphone. At this point the app asked me to hold as it paired the node to my phone and then connected me to my modem and the internet. I did not have to be concerned with any addresses or any of the stuff I used to have to do when I hooked up a router, it was ALL done for me. I just needed my pass code to connect to my internet connection. I was very impressed with how simple it was. Then the app asked me if I had another node to connect. It told me how and where to place it in my home. I live in a 3-bedroom ranch home (70 ft. by 25 ft.) with a half-finished basement. My main computer and modem are located in the finished side of the basement. The first node went there and the 2nd one I took upstairs to the first bedroom located in the middle of the home. I followed the app's instructions and hooked up the 2nd node. (Each node must be placed near an outlet.) Then I took the 3rd node to the far end of the home in the back bedroom which is about 35-40 ft. from the 2nd node. The app tied them all together and created a "web," which enveloped the entire home. The whole process took about 35 minutes. It could have been done quicker probably, but I was in no hurry. The biggest difference I have noticed is when streaming video upstairs. There used to be a lot of buffering, and now there is very little, if any, and then it is because the given site is having issues, not because my router cannot keep up. I also noticed that the coverage now covers my entire lot outside as well where it did not before. That will be great when I mow the lawn and want to stream music. It is almost an acre lot (about 120 ft. by 140 ft.) I know this product would shine in a bigger home. It may be "overkill" in my situation, but I am happy. When we sell our home my wife and I will no doubt move into a condo or a townhouse which will probably consist of three floors. I know the Velop system will be perfect in that environment.
