Posted .Hi Chopper,
Hooking up the Velop Nodes to the internet is easy as long as your phone is running with the latest Linksys App and your modem has an active internet connection. There might be other factors why it happened and we'll take this chance to make things right. Please send us your phone number at [email protected] so we can retrieve your case and endorse it to one of our Escalation Engineers for further isolation. Great System. Solved our weak WIFI Issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We were experiencing slow and lagging internet for years. We purchased several different extenders and new routers over the years and nothing really worked. We live in a Ranch Style home with lots of rooms / walls and the router is situated in our detached casita so strong WIFI has always been a challenge throughout our home. The Best Buy Sales Person was extremely knowledgeable and guided me to the Linksys Velop. I was told that this system will solve our problems. Michael from Geek Squad came out the very next day and within 1 hour we had fast, consistent and reliable internet throughout our home. Michael was great and really knew his stuff. Both my sons are into gaming and are so happy with the speed that they now get. I can now watch videos on my IPad without having to hold the IPad up in the air to try grab a connection. I definitely recommend this Linksys Velop system to anyone struggling with WIFI / Internet signal issues.

Amazing range
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best wifi system I have ever used! I used to have 2 nighthawk routers to reach my entire house. They worked very well, but I would have to connect and disconnect whenever walking through the house. I replaced all my wifi with the Velop system and it easily reaches the entire house.! Everything is on ` wifi network and it really simplified my life. I get full internet speed in every corner of my house and a reliable signal. I really couldnt ask for a better router. Even the app to get everything installed was super easy to use and setup. I am recommending this product to everyone looking to get a range extender or who needs wifi help!

Fast easy and love the civerage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My existing Apple Airport Extream was getting old and needed to be replaced to take advantage of the faster connections. I went to the Best Buy in Frisco, TX and was fully expecting to get another Apple Extreme. After talking to the sales associate I settled I the Linksys VELOP. I down loaded the App and followed the instructions toons and was up and running in under 10 minutes. With the second station, I put it near the back of the house and how have fantastic internet service through the whole house and backyard. Not only was it easy to set up, it has worked flawlessly since I installed it last month. Great Product.

Excellent hardware with simplistic software
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Trying very hard to make an excellent good impression, the packaging for this very well accomplished: The box opens from a cloth tab with magnetic latches, with the units well centered, cables wrapped with details and covered. The hardware itself is very well designed. There are three Velop units. All are the exact same. There is no 'master' hardware unit - The router will be one connected to the modem. There is one status light on top and on the bottom there is a standard round power, an on/off switch, a reset button that is recessed but doesn't need a pin to recess, and two Ethernet ports. There is not WAN/LAN: Connect the modem to one of the ports and the install assistant will figure it out. Also note there is no USB port. Each unit is about 2.5" x 2.5" x 7.5" tall. It's slender with flat surfaces on two sides, a grille on the other two sides and top. Cables are managed through one of the corners. The power supply is rather bulky if trying to put it on a power strip, but It looks right plugged directly to an outlet, leaving enough space for another plug. However, even the power supply has clean lines so it wouldn't clash on a modern home if left exposed. As for radios, it's a 'Tri-Band AC2200' radio, so it means two current-generation AC (5 Ghz) and one 2.4 Ghz radio, additionally each node has Bluetooth, which is used for initial configuration, and the nodes communicate through a private link, so unlike Wi-Fi repeaters, each node can provide full bandwidth. This is the reason why someone would by a 'Mesh' system. Our internet is 100/100 and got full bandwidth from one of the two satellite units, so the mesh system works as promised. Linksys promises 3-year warranty which is exceptional. What left me sorely disappointed is the software, which I hope Linksys addresses in short order: The system is the simplest possible to install. There is no documentation enclosed with the router, only a card indicating to download an app (iOS or Google Play only). From the app (and only the app, because there is absolutely no web access from a PC to these routers), a step-by step assistance guides through the setup of the first router, and then the other two units. Do not attempt to connect all at one or it might trip the assistant, having to reset one of the units as it happened to me. Then after a few minutes per unit, the system is ready, and registers the units with Linksys, so it can be managed and monitored from the app even outside the house. While Linksys managed to achieve a very simple to install product, it's disappointingly limited: If the units are connected to a router instead of a (cable/DSL) modem, it's incapable of working in access point mode, so for FiOS or other providers that require a router, it will create a double NAT. There is no way to configure 3rd party DNS servers (Like OpenDNS or Google). There is limited parent control functionality from within the app. There is also Amazon Alexa integration to turn on or off guest networks, or read the access credentials. The Alexa skill is currently unpublished and Linksys promises it will expand it. I found it after some googling on a 3rd party skill listing, while Linksys is promoting that the Alexa skill is available. Looks like Linksys rushed to announce this device at CES, and while I can wholeheartedly recommend the hardware, and I think it's the best mesh router in the market, hardware-wise, the software is sub-par anything else I've seen from Belkin or Linksys. Because I wanted to keep using my current router and use these as access point, I'm unable to use these until Linksys updates the software on these, and having kids at home, I depend on OpenDNS to filter some content. However, if you don't have FiOS, don't have a service provider that requires to use their own router (ie, you have a DSL or standard cable modem), and have no issues with limited network configuration options, this can be a great solution that will cover most large houses without dead spots, and using full Wi-Fi performance.

Linksys Velop great for vertical brick townhouses
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wifi coverage in our urban vertical brick townhouse has been a nightmare due to dead spots and overloaded channels. By distributing our 3 Velop nodes from basement to loft, and tuning channel selection using the channel finder feature in the Linksys app, we are now getting awesome coverage and bandwidth in all interior and exterior areas. Tip: If you use wired Ethernet connections for other devices like Sonos, do not hard wire any of those other devices to your router. Only hard-wire your first Velop node to your router, then buy a gigabit Ethernet switch and connect that to the second Ethernet port on your first hard wired Velop node. Use the switch to connect all of your other devices that require a hard wired Ethernet connection (e.g. Sonos, printers, etc.). If you don't do this, your Wifi devices will not be able to communicate with the devices that are hard wired to your router.

A Great Idea crippled by horrible App
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great idea. Three routers with a backhaul over Mu-MIMO. In theory could get good coverage for a house and for the people who get this to work I'm sure it is a great product. I have wasted over 3 hours over two days trying to get this router to work. I can only get one Node configured. The other two nodes won't connect event when I place the nodes right next to each other, I still get errors like out of range. My experience has been very poor. Please note to setup and administrator this router IT REQUIRES and IOS or ANDROID DEVICE. This app is not in the Amazon store. I have a few of the cheaper Amazon tablets and figured while I wait for my new Android phone I could use that or worse case like EVERY OTHER ROUTER ON THE MARKET I could hardwire or connect to default wireless network and setup the routers via a web page. No. If you try Linksys Mocks you and tells you must use an app. I had to borrow an android phone to setup this up to test. I should have stopped there. I don’t mind apps and it would be fine if the app was useful. But it isn't. It was written under the assumption you would not have a problem, but the number of times I've tried to add Nodes to this and got told, hey you'll need a plug etc. It takes like 5 clicks to start the add a node process. Not ideal, esp. if you notice someone keeps trying stop making me over click. Seeing it say Uh-Oh press the red reset button and have it not really fix the issue just induces rage, or when it says it is setting up and just hangs, no good. Also, when the nodes don't connect there is no useful information. The Linksys Range extender I have gave me more information via the web page then this app on if they are two far or close. Additionally, I've tried resetting the system, via the reset button, but I have no idea if that is working since I can't connect to the router except via the app and it doesn't tell me if it is back to default connection. Additionally, this app connects to your Velop via an Internet cloud connection. It is faster when your connected via wireless to the node, but still have that little cloud connection, and I'm not a fan of having to connect to a Cloud service that I can't two factor protect and won't use the full keyboard of symbols forcing me to use an extra-long password to protect my router. This setup experience has left a bitter taste in my mouth and crippled what could be a good idea. The single router when it was working I checked my phone, and I know it is using both 5Gz and 2.4Gz still have me a strong signal throughout my house and only needs one. But I was looking forward to using this to extend some LAN ports to a few places and saving me a few 50ft. cords I have in the house. With the backhaul it would have been able to cover the data my switches have. Other cons no USB ports so if you have a printer or USB HDD on your current router, you'll need to consider other options if you go with this. I really wanted to like it, but not providing a customer with additional tools or an easy way via the app to reset or control the router is frustrating. I know my next step is to try this weekend to contact customer service open a case and see if they can fix it. But even if they get it working, the fact that I must use an Android App, and can’t use a desktop to manage it, makes me worry what will happen if it goes wrong or worse since it is app only what will happen when someone finds a vulnerability in the cloud service Linksys uses to connect back to the routers and start messing with them. I wish they would at least have some form of two factor and allow for more complex passwords, or at the very least once the initial setup is done disable the external web connection cloud service and only allow the app to work when I’m locally connected. For everyone who got this to work I’m sure this will be the product, just hope you don’t have an issue that requires troubleshooting. On the one working node I did test the speed and it seemed over wireless my EA9500 was more consistent and a bit faster from the same source and destination for a large file copy, but the Velop was close enough that most people wouldn’t notice anything. I also tested the single working node with some online gaming, both in the other Ethernet slot and wireless and I didn’t notice any performance impact. Since I can’t get all the nodes I have tested true load to report, but I’m sure others who have it working will, and I’m sure once I work with Linksys support I can get this system working it will be fine and provide me with spotless coverage. Just the whole having to use an app, and what I feel a limited and poorly designed app, and have it forced down on us with no backup connection has left a sour feeling and makes me worry about what will happen in the future if these devices go wonky, I won’t be able to troubleshoot, reset/fix as quickly as I could in the past and to be fair to Linksys this is a new product just out and they may fix the app and hopefully add other versions or allow access to the web service locally to manage them. Just know that if you are looking for a mesh like network this isn’t a bad router, but it seems to be crippled by an over simplified app, that is limited to two platforms and requires Internet connectivity to full function.
