Great wireless solution for the entire home
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This wireless system is fantastic for a large or awkwardly situated home. I am getting consistently greater than 170 mb per second throughout the entire home. My home is T shaped with the office upstairs. I could never get a good signal with a wireless router since the office has so many walls between it and the rest of the house. This mesh system has solved all of those issues and seamlessly allows me to move through the house while streaming HD. Very easy to setup and the application is extremely user friendly.

Simple solution in a single box!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a simple problem that most people have who own a split floor plan with a finished room over the garage (FROG). Too much area for a single WiFi router/modem to cover effectively and efficiently. I tried various methods in the past to get WiFi coverage over the entire house and this is the best. Easy to set up, great App interface, and finally single network while traveling around the house. I am using two nodes to cover my entire house with no issues. Using the App, I have complete and instant control over my WiFi network. Limiting access, setting priorities, and checking on the speed to keep my provider honest. If you are looking for a single simple solution for your WiFi network needs, look no further. This is all you will need.

Fast but needs improvement
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Simply put, if you need a set it and forget it, wide wifi only network, then this may be what you need. However if you don't have a large house, want more control, or need wired connections, this isn't the best choice. There's still much room of improvement. Good - Fast network speed - Small form factor - Wide coverage - 3 year warranty Bad - Set up was buggy and a PITA - Cloud based app only management, no web interface meaning you can't manage it unless you have internet access. - Each node only has 2 ethernet ports, no USB - Can be inconsistent - Nodes can interfere with each other I'm well experienced with network setup, and this is one of the most frustrating setup I've ever had to do. You can only set this up with the Linksys app and each step failed for me. I would recommend not using the bluetooth and use direct connection to the node's access point. Setting up the extending nodes went smoother but not without the same problems. The Netgear Orbi, a similar mesh router, was much easier to set up and didn't need an app. This is the fastest router I’ve seen to date, with the average transfer speed of 25 MB/s. I did, however, have issues with its reliability. I have internet speed of 230 Mbps, and with two nodes set up, I did have a constant max speed, but when I set up the third, my speed became less stable averaging at 180 Mbps. This may be because the nodes are too closed together as it seem confused as to which node it should connect to my device even after optimizing the channels. The main issue I have with it is its lack of common features. Why is there no web interface? It’s annoying to have to use the buggy app. While having one SSID is simple, I would be nice to be able to assign which device uses 2.4 ghz or 5 ghz, especially when the auto handshake doesn’t seem to make the most optimized choices. It's also lack deep network customization, but I don't think the average consumer would be concerned about. The lack of ports is a big one. Next to my router, I have smart home hubs, wired connections set up for my pc (Steam in home streaming) and PS4 (remote play), and sometimes USB attached drive. The problem is that the Velop connected to my modem only has one port left! This seems to be the trend with mesh routers, but you would think Linksys would at least match what Netgear have done. I'm not trying to oversell Netgear, but I didn't have most of these issues with the Orbi. For the price, other than faster transfer speed, this system doesn't really offer anything over the competition.

Amazing Home Wifi
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After looking at all of the new home mesh networks, I settled on the Linksys Velop. My home wifi has never been faster in throughput! It screams, and not just in one location, but the whole house thanks to the three nodes that were deployed. No more dead spots anywhere in the house. Setup was straightforward and took about 40 minutes to deploy all three nodes, including their auto update to the latest firmware version after intitial setup. With this new wifi, everyone in the family is incredibly happy!

Simple set up
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Linksys Velop system is extremely easy to set up. If you are not sure what this system does and why you should get it, think of cell towers. Each node is a cell tower. The more you have, the wider the coverage. The difference between this and with range extenders is that these nodes act together. Meaning the quality of your signal doesn’t decrease. Technology ei? This does not replace your internet connection. You still need to subscribe to get internet to your local providers. The units are white (not the traditional linksys blue and black) which gives you that apple look. It comes with an Ethernet cord and a preset Wi-Fi network (limited paper guide). It literally took me 35 min from unboxing to finish. Download the app and follow the directions. It could take you longer if you didn’t have a Linksys account (which I do). The process took longer as the app stopped and had to re-start. I got side tracked as the app logged me in to the other Linksys router. Setting up additional nodes was fast. The box stated up to 6000 sq feet (2000 ft each node) of full speed coverage, Tri band and 3 year warranty as well as 24/7 customer care. If you are familiar with the layout of the dashboard, you can switch views of the linksys products easily. It is customizable so that you can change what you want to see, or not see, at a glance. Such in my case, I do not use the Guest Access, so therefore I do not need to see it. I also like how it summarizes the online devices, showing that I have a certain number of Local devices and how many of each are using which band of the Wi-Fi. If you click on the number you can see a network map, in which you can modify each device, such as name, parental controls, and reserve the DHCP address. From here you can also see the current internet usage of these devices so that you can see who is hogging your bandwidth. As far as speed, I have not had any issues with it. However, I have noticed when logged into the device at 5GHz that it responds quicker than my home router.

Wireless Mesh King, falling short of greatness
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Whenever I test or use networking equipment, writing a review, at this point in time, becomes somewhat of a "cut to the chase" effort. I can easily talk about the configuration abilities and/or inabilities, the band(s) used, etc. Those things are pretty much standard at this point. There are a few routers with better networking tools than others (ie. extensive logging and monitoring, tracing, cloud based administration, the list goes on and on), but the just about all share the common tools necessary to go beyond basic plug-n-play networking - port forwarding, upnp, dmz, qos... I see no need to mention that unless there is a negative reason to do so. The Velop system has all these things covered in standard Linksys fashion. When it comes to wireless performance, I must say, this may be the best in class, wireless option for the everyday consumer. The wireless range and throughput you will experience with this product is not only outstanding, but reassuring and refreshing. It will effectively eliminate dead corners, sketchy connection spots, slow response spots - all of the above. The wireless mesh concept is nothing new, and has been executed by others with decent products, but I haven't seen the signal strength and throughput consistency experienced with the Velop. I had a couple of very strong wireless routers in my home, one N and one AC. I had very good coverage between the 2, and other mesh systems didn't give me enough statistical or usage improvement to warrant a change - throughput and signal strength weren't significantly better. The Velop trumps them in every way. If you install the number of units necessary for good coverage, and position them correctly, you will not be disappointed. It also handles heavy traffic and device load without a hitch. Solid performance. As great a wireless solution as the Velop system is, it falls short because it is too expensive to not offer a more "total" network-friendly solution. It is awesome if everything you own is connected wirelessly, but if you are like me and have quite a few wired devices, get ready to buy a switch or 2. The 3 pack is a $500 investment, and you need at least a single switch just to add a handful of wired devices to it. Some say, why do that; just connect wirelessly. Performance, performance, performance! Reliability, reliability, reliability! Certain things perform much better wired. I like my home and security controller wired, my gaming systems, my media server, my printers, POE cameras... Does that mean I would have to buy a switch anyway? Yes, but now, I will need an extra to cover the missing 4-port one I had on my former router. My other issue is the lack of a dedicated Web UI for administration - this is said to be in the works, and there appears to be a hidden instance presently. The entire setup and management of these magnificent devices is handled through mobile apps... Not a mobile web UI, which could cover EVERY device, but iOS and Android apps. Well, I'm the guy with a Windows Phone, and I really like it. Thank goodness I have an Android device from work. I still can't agree with this approach, especially when it much easier to create a mobile web UI from a standard web GUI... Set up can be a bit finicky, but the final product is worth it. I will say, that if you have wired connectivity to each node location, you will experience enterprise grade responsiveness. There is a way to trick the setup into allowing all 3 to have wired backhaul... Awesome performance! But the performance is still admirable with wireless point-to-point as well. Recommendation: Web UI and build a hub style device with ports (sits near the modem)

6,000 square feet - no problem
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great “mesh” MU-MIMO network for home access to in-house (or yard) nodes and/or the internet. I currently run a network of 20+ devices in a digitally congested area with 30+ networks running in close proximity to me. The Linksys Velop Whole Home Wi-Fi System (3 node) with dynamic tri-band mesh network & an easy to use set up and manage experience is quite nice. The system is like fine wine “it only gets better over time” as it maps or learns the environment it is operating in. The 3-pack system provides up to 6000 sq ft of seamless roaming coverage over a single network. It also works well in multi-story applications. I followed (to the letter) the easy to follow install instructions and was fully functional with 3 nodes covering all of my space with no dropouts. Unpacking, reading the install instructions (looking online at Linksys info), and setting up the network (rigorously) following the instructions took less than 30 minutes. This is the fastest home mesh network that I have used to date. It is about 10% faster than what I was using. It also seems to be cleaner with less fluctuation in bandwidth. The styling is great as the modules are both functional, small and elegantly designed. Cons: It does not have USB ports for external use (USB printer or storage) nor does it support total dedicated channel control at this time.

Small package big performance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're looking for a whole home wifi I would definitely recommend this system. 3 nodes are all you need wherever you want wifi. This has eliminated my bulky router & wifi extender which together never worked that great anyway. The nodes take up minimal space, were easy to set up with an app & so far I've been able to upload photos quicker, we can be on multiple devices at one time, which we couldn't do before without something freezing. We have one node in our garage rec room which is in a separate building, a metal one no less, and can still get wifi & streaming without any problems .

Very reliable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm using this to replace a Google WiFi system. I would constantly getting buffering when viewing my NestCams with GWF but it's so much better with the Velop, I haven't had that issue since I set it up. I actually had 4 satellites with Google - I have three with Linksys and seems like better coverage. The power cord is a little short for one spot I keep a satellite in (on top of a China cabinet) but it works, and extra for our so would be ideal. Also the app is missing one great feature: ability to see live network access to a specific device. (Google offers that). Overall I'm very happy that it does what it is supposed to do and highly recommend it.

Everyone should buy this.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product is reliable and the benefits are worth the cost. Wirelessly, I get at least the speed my ISP gives me in every room. The range is huge. A single unit could cover an entire house but add one or 2 more and you have full speed everywhere. Setup is so easy you don't need a tech to do it. 2 Ethernet ports on each unit let you plug devices like a desktop or printer in and it just works. Business grade networking is now available to consumers. Buy this now if you haven't already.

Residential Wifi Coverage Solved
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been tracking the many new developments in the field of "residential mesh wifi", since I, like many of you, have the very first world problem of living in a home that seems to challenge consistent wifi coverage. I've been very interested in the Google/Eero/Orbi that have all recently hit the market, but I already own some decent Linksys gear, some of it fairly new. When then Velop was launched, I saw that it was setup the same way as my most recent router, so I decided to take the plunge. Setup: This requires some tech savvy, as the only way the Velop CAN be configured is through the app. This was so extremely easy to do. You have to be careful to follow the order, as you need to plug one Velop into your router/internet source first and then setup subsequent nodes. This is all assisted by the Linksys app which I found extremely easy to use. Build: The Velop nodes themselves feel well made and heavy. The ports are all recessed far into the bottom and have a cable guide coming out the one corner. They look like flower vases or pieces of art. The white color isn't exactly unobtrusive, but it isn't terrible to look at either. The unboxing was sort of a glorious affair with all the velop nodes nested in fitted slots in the packaging. The power adapters are a bit large for sharing an outlet, but are well made and have the newer style flat power cords coming out of them that make placement even easier. Operation: Once I got all setup with the app and got all three nodes placed I decided to tinker with it a little and wander around with the two peripheral nodes, as I was using them in full wireless mode, where they simply repeat the wifi they can see, rather than running wires to them. I found that the configuration that left me with the fastest speeds resulted in the other two nodes clustered closer to the main node than I expected, but I decided to run with it. It was soon apparent why this setup is getting reviews showing its far faster than the others that are out there. This is one point that makes the Velop stand out - a dedicated "back channel" radio for communicating between the nodes, separate from the normal radio for broadcasting/receiving your device's wifi signal. This stand apart feature makes the Velop very quick in overall speeds. After tinkering in the app and placing media priority on my Rokus and Apple TVs, I found that I could stream netflix with zero interruptions from other internet heavy operations where I couldn't before. Cons: There are a few small complaints that keep me from giving this system 5 stars. One of them is the lack of a "Home" node. I think it remains to be seen that if you are someone who is aware enough that you need a three node mesh wifi system, you likely also have some wired devices that you would like connected. perhaps a printer or a media server, or a few things. In fact all four ports on my former Linksys router were occupied, and if it had four more I wouldn't have complained. I found myself having to create a workaround for this by attaching a switch or another device, and I wished that there was a home node that has those extra ports. Also, the app is lacking in some more advanced features (certain types of parental blocking for example) that Google and orbi have excelled at. Overall: This mesh setup has changed the available coverage in my home and I find I have faster internet in more places. While lacking in a few advanced features, This is setup is very fast and works extremely well.

Amazing speed and Coverage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This system is incredible. Having a whole home wifi system, even in a small setting is extremely viable. The speed this product can output is incredible. My download speeds are upwards of 100mbps with zero ping issue. I'm a gamer and an avid streamer so quality is extremely important to me. I'm able to play games and stream 4K content with ease. The setup was extremely easy; only took around 5 minutes to set up and the Linksys app lets you control everything on the router.
